  • wasn't the 'hitch' just a statest at the end?

  • Comment removed

  • Did the second interview ever happen?

  • I don't agree with a lot of what Hitchens says. However, he makes you think. I give him that.

  • RIP

  • A once in a generation intellect, and a great example of not giving a damn what people think of you!

  • He's a good interviewer because he knows when not to speak.

  • so... this music is bumpin!

  • The world just got tangibly stupider. Hitch, you will be missed. :'(

  • @blackestjake The world also just became tangibly dumber. ;)

  • “My own view is that this planet is used as a penal colony, lunatic asylum and dumping ground by a superior civilization, to get rid of the undesirable and unfit. I can't prove it, but you can't disprove it either.”

    ― Christopher Hitchens,

    R.I.P. The Hitch

  • Epic theme tune.

  • @dizzythenotsogreat...give up the wanna be intellectual angle, you are not up for it

  • I think it's utterly tone deaf of the usually quite precise Hitchens to say that Capitalism is the slightest bit revolutionary. It's utterly, entirely institutional and it, by nature, must always be and remain aggressively counter-revolutionary.

  • Hitchens' style of constant interrupting at its finest.

  • Step one: sack the guy on that cheap 80's synth!

  • @Gonzoidzz LOL yeah. I posted this link to my Facebook and captioned it "Despite the cheesy intro music these videos are very good."

  • @Gonzoidzz but it's soooo good!

  • @karstd

Me, too! Like, I saw ur comment 1st and then scrolled down to read his BEFORE I watched the vid, so I didn't get it at first...

But then I hit play and just about died! WTF?! Do they have an SNES in-studio? LOL! "Music brought to you by...Mario Paint" WTFLOL?!

  • I loved the fact he was at university in his early days with Bill Clinton at Oxford, his description of Clintons college days seemed remarkably accurate, .. the philandering pot ( eating) draft dodger.. yet he goes on to become President of the United States, .. Hitchens must have thought Clinton was Forrest Gump.

A great interview, .. get well soon Hitch , a truly great writer/speaker of our times.

  • "Mhmmm, mhmmm."

  • @Cripptic I totally agree! I've seen this comment on quite a few Hitchens clips ad I think it's a load of crap!

  • Take me world; leave Hitch.

You have fans in Boise that don't dispute your scientific evidence pal.

  • @TheMatthewfortuna WTF?! Here I am thinking I was the only Hitchens fan in Boise! Small world.

  • I only wish I could sip scotch with him and discuss the past, present and future of this fickle world.

  • I'm a 21 year old man that has always claimed allegiance to the right and clung to a Christian upbringing. Christopher Hitchens opened my eyes to truths I was too proud to dig for myself and led me to a new found intellectual state of thought. I now claim political allegiance to my own believes and look at Christians as future anti-converts. Christopher Hitchen's is one true geniuses of our time and the world will be a darker place when he passes; which I hope isn't for decades.

  • get better hitch! id probably linger a finger if u were a lady

  • @tooshlong Yuk. ! Was that the best comment you could muster ! ?

  • @thehitchrules sorry! but i still would. i love u and ur logic so much. i coumpletely disagree with his views about religion and the benefits of faith... but at least he uses rational thought processes before deducing an opinion and i could have a debate with him in a way Dawkins wouldnt allow. I really hope u get better, the world is a worse place without u sir.... GOD BLESS! Much love.

  • i need this soundtrack

  • Well Done Hitch! ...you´re The Man.

  • such calm, measured delivery

  • MIDIgasim!

  • I like how he continues his train of thought even when interviewers start speaking. He doesn't let anyone cut him off. That's confidence.

  • "I was cold to drug taking---i thought it was a pathetic pursuit" ---says the scotch pounding chainsmoking Hitchens ahahah

  • yes!! a willing surrender of responsibility. why would anyone do that? why are so many people afraid to grow up? approx 33:30

    Get a life :)

  • yes!! a willing surrender of responsibility. why would anyone do that? why are so many people afraid to grow up? aprox 33:30

    Get a life :)

  • What a miserable interviewer... Seems to be only content with his own boredom.

  • anyone else notice that google's transcribed captions are useless?

  • lol the opening music is straight out of a videgame from 1994

  • @JS1989RENEWED The opening jingle from Battle City comes to mind

  • Truly epic - this is a million times better than EDDIE MURPHY: RAW! Hitch U r my new hero & why have I only now just discovered u?! More crass than Howard Stern, more provocative than Sam Harris, more scandalous than Lady Gaga, more authentic than Sean Penn & less of a flamer than Anderson Cooper - thank u for your rants - they rock & inspire me!

Your command of the English language more than makes up for the holes in your scientific evidence (we forgive the outlandish claims) - GET WELL!

  • @Idahoprospector Hi, can you please give examples of the 'holes' in Hitchens' scientific knowledge? Cheers.

  • @Idahoprospector lol 34 idiots

  • @waste0fspais 34 hippies

  • Comment removed

  • versus 1081 complete fuckin mongoloids

  • @Idahoprospector Why do I see this comment on every fucking video and you always have the same amount of thums up aswell.....

  • a mental chuck norris crushing verbally

  • At least Hitchens himself (not known for his humbleness) admits that this is on a part of the interviewer nothing less then an ass kissing interview! 49:15

  • Hitch u r a brilliant guy. Although the thing is u have loads of hate & even teen angst that thunders through every one of your arguments. W/o love what's the use of having all the intellectual brilliance in the world?! Unfortunately, it's obvious there's not a lot of love or joy in you, I'm afraid; but Jesus the Son of the Living God can help fix that. Christ loves u & died for you. I hope one day u will be able to accept that! Get well soon, and we're praying for u!

  • @alexdeltoro4 Where's the proof Jesus died for anyone? The bible wasn't finalized for centuries to come as the thing had to be morphed over the centuries and hand copied with human errors creeping in. So the bible is a bad source. Roman historians other than Josephus (whose writings were doctored by Christians thereby making them useless as well) never mentioned Jesus. In fact no contemporary records exist of Jesus. So please, leave the assertions of Jesus until there is proof of Jesus...

  • @bl91978 Your completely right, i made a comment on another page questioning WHERE?? is any, not evidence but things, materials, the cross, the steaks that he was nailed with, a diary or writings of a man named jesus with his seal or signature clothes any damm thing that would make it EVIDENT that yeah hey these stories are looking credible. But alas, zero, nothing, scrolls, jewlery fucking watever other then yup this is true because? I might as well search the matrix for neo.

  • @bl91978 Yeah we might as well search the matrix for neo! Give me the cross he was killed on, the nails that he was stuck with, where is these objects. Theres egyptian artifacts specific to certain characters wheres the jesus diary or writings(he wrote nothing down ever??) clothes, any thing.

  • @unified599 uncanny isn't it.

  • I must add ---if the world would have shed this religion thing---never will really go away---and I actually think it's ok and good to believe in something---(bigger than ourselves)...but if we didn't have religion, not god, as an enemy---then we wouldn't have enjoyed CH as we have--there-in---the Catch---err..Hitch22---REALLY---CRis-pris femine--sexual bla d da---Ive heard every reason from him why he demands "Chritopher"...Then I read (I HATE) memoirs---but I see he has the more likely reasons-

  • replying to myself---Y? Well, does anyone SEE the sadness in CH? Why the hell is he dying? Smoking---If this world would begin to grow, or would have, he wouldn't have to put up with us 'hicks'...Yes, I say that and incluse myself---but, UN-like me, He truly (seems) to genuinly like people---I suffer in that area..well, as he says, he drinks to make people more interesting----Even the brightest among us here are dullards---I see Hitchens weakness (ok, I'm crazy loon)---but I do---love him...j

  • CH---(if I still exist) , we will all have an interesting day if he can't get past it and dies---but beware of the coming emptiness---Yeah,...it might even make the national news--but beware--we MUST stick together---fuck generations to come--(although they will have a beter chance)---but what I mean is we will FEEL the loss---believe me---cause the news cycle will go right on past---SHarris? Does HE have the Hitch inside---I hope a bit---I like him. A lot--but, Iitterally am so sad for CH. Y?

  • I love how this is 2002 lol.....looks 30 yrs old

  • @44SuperShredder I love Kreislers suit. He's like a professor from the seventies! :-)

  • @Idahoprospector he's like dumb n stuff---Al got him good---jesus lives praise him--he loves u bro------wes side-

  • @charliesecho--hi

  • @charliesechos It's so sad. Jesus is our Lord and he died for y'aa and we repay his love by questioning him. I think we need to get back to church, or Jesus will be hot. I wouldn't mess ith him. He wasn't afraid to die for his beliefs----Hitchens is beyond saving--he will burn in hades for questioning religion and Jesus. I and we all shoud pray that he will see the light.

  • @charliesechos

I also heard the other day on some show that he said -and you can even look it up if you don't believe me,..he said that it's most likelythat man <--- created god. I think he must have been drunk---He totally drinks ya know...

  • @charliesechos Haha, yeah, he'll burn in Hades for questioning Jesus. Right. And he'll never end up in Valhalla if he doesn't start worshiping Vishnu.

  • @TheStann toatalle. he likes to jus say shit n stuff - like if u look, Al got him god---hitch is like stunnned and SHarpton is SHRP---that's why he was named shept-ton---a ton of sharp, and hitch is a bitch---he even is so stupid and shit that his tweeter name is bitchhitch-0--no kidding---he doesn een know---Jesus is Lord,...and cris is like whoa and hit---Al got him good here--I wrest my case...GOd be with you ad payz jesis---

  • @charliesechos Clearly being a mindless sheeple does something to your sarcasm detector.

  • @TheStann You cracked me up bro.---and I really am laughing as I reply,..well, smiling at least---I don't do the (lol's and the lmao's)...if I am laughing, I type it---takes an instant- ok, for hotties I will, but---well anyway->I wrote that as I actually (admin) a page on Hitch. I just write crap like that at times just to see who thinks I am actually serious---peace---no making fun of you---I love the Hitch too since the Mother Teresa shit in 95-Then he writes relign bk. We all fell n luv-j

  • @charliesechos Cheers

  • Hitchens, like most people, is right about a lot, and horribly wrong about a lot also.

  • @bwmcmaste um that was kind of my point, I don't read FASHION magazines - I can think of nothing more DEVOID of intellectual content. Your point is taken, may have to start.

  • Search: Time 100 Christopher Hitchens and vote to make him one of the most inspirational people of 2011!!

  • @slye1991 most dumb n stuf maybe-he like doesnt even no we were born in cristesz imige---he jus talks and shit--- Ican do that but im not goin on tv and shit,...i meanhe got his dipppy<___lolplaoma from a craker jak box probubly....Jesus loves me and you.

  • @charliesechos

    ughhhhh what????

  • @slye1991 he's like dumb---he doesnt even know jesus ids the way...whata duffass-

  • Wait a second, we're following an editor of a FASHION MAGAZINE. Whoa, I had no idea, um does everyone know this?! R we totally screwed or is there someone else? VANITY FAIR editor telling us what to believe, this is actually pretty embarassing! Can anyone help me out wrapping my head around this.

  • @timjdong I'll try to assist you, but your thinking skills are really amiss. VF is a collection of cultural essays and a fine venue for CH to reach cosmopolitan thinkers. Relax your physical and energetic mind and adopt the mantra: "I don't know anything" This will help you more clearly assess new information and hopefully override such preconceived misconceptions. I mean this sincerely and wish you the best of luck.

  • @Ncyim 'Cultural Essays,' is cute, but let's be honest - VANITY FAIR is a joke & FASHION is not the medium of intellectuals! I love Hitch & will continue to, but how can you not say it's kind of embarrassing my friend, that one of our guys draws his pay check w/ them. I get your point on reaching cosmopolitans, but the 'thinkers' bit is more than a stretch. Wish you the best as well - let's paint things as they are though.

  • argh... the music like for atari game -_-

  • Tim Curry looks like Orson Welles in this infomercial o.0

    ~DISLIKE

  • Those obscure Quakers would be worth billions of dollars today. Moses Brown was the second wealthiest man in Rhode Island after John Jacob Astor.

  • @24:24,

Slavery was a dwindling institution seen as an outgrowth of indentured servitude until the cotton gin was invented. Most people advocated gradual phasing out of slavery until the standard of living of freemen increased and became much greater than that of slaves. Before the 1820s, most people had living conditions comparable to slaves and slaves were buying their freedom according to De- Tocqueville.

  • @joesoap81 cheers! lol

  • @joesoap81 ‎^____________^

  • @joesoap81 LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @joesoap81 Haha wtf! Are you high?

  • @joesoap81 I know you wrote this comment like 5 months ago, but I just laughed until I started crying!!!

  • @joesoap81 How odd. It made me want to play an 80's video game.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR

    OK, thanks for sharing.

  • @TRUNDLETHOR

    Nope. Try again.

  • @emotionalinvalid pricks like you only ever just state their opinion.

  • @emotionalinvalid

Besides being turned off by his character, is there anything specific you disagree on with Hitchens?

What exactly makes him a hypocrite?

"He's no social democrat" - any examples to support that statement?

  • I'm sure I've seen the interviewer in Water World

  • Socialist? O.O.....You have a wonderful standing on religion and I'm completely acquiesce, but your politics bring me trepidation to the fullest.

  • Comment removed

  • The opening music sounds like a Super Nintendo theme for a Final Fantasy game.

  • I can't stand the interviewer's incessant "uh hm, hmm hm, mm hm"ing.

It's like being interviewed by Terri Schiavo.

  • i respect his iconoclasticism, even with chomsky, a man i admire very much. their disagreements over foreign policy represent the realest discussion of world affairs that's available in any major media

  • It's interesting getting a little insight into the man I admire the most.

I wish and want to be more like him.

  • oooh, hitchens, how i love thee..let me count the ways......i made this declaration more than a year ago and i am still counting.

if loving hitchens is wrong, then i am the wrongest of the wrongers...and proud of it.

  • This man is greater than Elisha, king David, Joshua, Samson, Moses. How? because the so call heros of the bible at one time or another kill and shed the blood of another precious human being. You guys keep on debating because the truth cannot reach you until you come to know the perfect and spotless teaching of the LORD BUDDHA. Go find some book on buddhism and start reading, trust me because i am a former Christain now turn Buddhist, may you be free from delusion..........sadhu! sadhu!

  • @12timlow To paraphrase Chirstopher Hitchens, a lot of the members of Hirohito's army were Buddhist and they commiteed some of the worst atrocities in human history.

Also buddhism was the dominant religion in Southeast Asia and that of the Khmer people but that didn't keep them from massacring each other in the 70s, did it?

  • This theme made me jizz in my pants a little.

  • Hitchens is far too intelligent for the Americans, I imagine they will shoot him soon.....

  • @Kralhonj lol

  • @Kralhonj Such bigotry.

  • honest mistake at 11:40/50 ... Salazar was not a dictator... he was an economist!

  • i'd like to know his opinion on cannabis

  • @lelkish

Hitchens? If so, he's pro-legalization, not just for medical use; for personal use also. He says that even if cannabis was poison, he would still recomend decriminalization.

What did you expect from such a logical man?

  • @lelkish /watch?v=vvIAQ2UIIJQ

  • @inswoon great vid. thanks

  • You-Tube's vast congregation of "atheists" write abysmally. Why is this so? Why are they so poorly represented in this venue?

  • @procommenter I think you've fallen prey to confirmation bias. I've seen some atheist who are quite eloquent with words, and seen some theists who can't tell the difference between 'your' and 'you're'. From what I've seen, it seems that theists are generally the ones who have problems expressing themselves without using redundant and unjustified language. I think all of us need to learn to write better, personally. Let's keep this civil, people.

  • Hitchens' alarmism feeds on ignorance and the public library system's deep pockets to make his books, that the public-at-large does not read, into best-sellers.

  • @procommenter no actually the opposite is true he is the voice of reason. you on the other hand are not very well informed and probably borderline retarded

  • Crontrarian?

  • I'm a hitch-addict, the first step is to admit it people...there are others

  • @camaelburro3 i cant stop hep me hep me

  • @camaelburro3 Christopher Hitchens is the ULTIMATE SHOCK JOCK!!!!!! I love him. More crass than Howard Stern, more British than Noam, more convincing than Rush Limbaugh, more obnoxious than Bill O'Reilly, more captivating than any televangelist & less of a flamer than Anderson Cooper!

Everyone gets BULLIED, all of his opponents go down! Even if he gets cornered he can command his superior articulation to ALTER scientific evidence & come roaring back! - Long live the H-slap!

  • @camaelburro3 When I think I hear Hitches voice.. It makes me feel bad-ass.

  • "Nazi Reagan"... LOL Hitchens, the Jewish Trotskyist tool.

  • @Counterrevolutionite He said "Nancy Reagan"

  • Comment removed

  • Hitchens' alarmism feeds on ignorance and the public library system's deep pockets to make his books, that the public-at-large does not read, into best-sellers.

  • @procommenter that is one of the dumbest things ive heard on so many levels but ill just ridicule you for 2 things....1) The fact that your username is "procommenter" and then you make that statement....2) Saying that public libraries have "deep pockets." Shame on your mother for not having you aborted.

  • @GBeesing Regardless of whatever else you said, that last line is one of the best insults I've ever read on YouTube - and I've read a lot.

  • @Nizlopi2 haha thanks

  • the intro is so dope hahaha

  • @dhide14

    ...........Whats wrong with you?

  • @dhide14 what is so funny? You may very well die of a disease yourself, no matter what you believe. At least Hitchens understands cancer does not discriminate. I hope, for your sake, you don't find that out for yourself the hard way. In the end, you will turn to science just like the rest of us my friend. Mark my words!

  • @dhide14 how humble

  • Oh my god.... Whats with the Ivanhoe-intro?

  • @azzy314159 What do you mean by his reading his shallow? He only reads thin books, magazines, celebrity bios ... And what are 'dugs'? And is having a 'deep grasp' being able to tag unnecessary French words at the end of your argument?

  • Comment removed

  • @GRJones92hk Dugs = Drugs. Yeah the bit of French was unnecessary. But I stick to my stand . He is kitschy.

  • @azzy314159 Ok, concede you that one. He is kitschy! I think he does know some stuff, but there's a lot of playing it up to keep his TV appearances, magazine columns and book deals going.

  • @GRJones92hk Thanks, That is generous of you.

  • @azzy314159

If you know what you're talking about you've yet to show it. Whats exactly lacking in his arguments? Hows his reading shallow and what "deep grasp" do you think he lacks on the topics he tackles? You just throw stuff out there without taking any time to explain or expand on your positions.

  • @Pervyable Actually, I've heard Christopher talk about Islam, and he is as well-researched in it as any scholar of Islam.
