  • been tring to get this sport legalized in missouri for over ten years. texas does it less than a year. my family loves it. wish missori conservation would step up and do the same. thanx

  • I just found you! My first video I watched was how to male gelatin air fresheners. I -3 your videos. This one was so funny!! :)

  • ROFL I am with you on everything that you said. How stupid is someone putting their hands down in a mud hole. What if they pull a stub back up because an aligator bit off their arm or they pull an anaconda out.

I am afraid of worms and noodling is the last thing that I would do.

  • funny lol the government is involved...is funny

  • Me being from texas didn't know what noodling was til now my husband did it as a teen though lol.

  • i caught a 40 lbs. fish noodling it was a thrill but his rough mouth scraped my arm up pretty good

  • Yeah, I would be curious to know why noodling is illegal. Is it because of the safety risk or because it being unfair to the fish? Either scenario does not make sense to me. Let us know if you find out the reason that it is illegal in Texas.

  • My daughter's boyfriend is a successful noodler. It's creepy to me. But I guess it is a good survivor skill if you're ever up $#*t creek without a pole.

  • Our government is going to legislate the human race right out of existence one of these days. If somebody doesn't understand it, make it illegal. That solves everything. NOT

I've seen videos, and I've seen at least one NatGeo documentary on it, and I think it's nuts. I wouldn't do it, but a lot of good ol' Rednecks have considered it great sport for a LOT of years, there are remarkably few injuries from it (because they're usually drunk), and passing a law against it is absolutely stupid.

  • my husband use to noodle here in oklahoma when he was a teenager

  • Traditional fishermen are the ones who created the law and are fussing about it. They say it is "unfair to the fish!" The fish are essentially trapped in the hole and have no chance of getting away. Noodling is when the noodler sticks his hand into the fishes hidey hole and pulls it out. (Not just reaching into the mud.) I think the argument is bull. The anglers just don't want their territory trod upon.

  • There's a new show coming out called "Hillybilly Hand Fishing". Sounds like the same thing. Too funny.

  • Well idk, because people loose fingers and arms and things noodling, but its their choosing

  • How do they figure that sticking your hand in the mud is any different than catching them with a hook?

  • I don't see the problem with noodling if that's what the person wants to do. If it's dangerous and they die from it hey it's there problem. I love catfish it's the best when it's breaded and deep fried, there's a restaurant in Scottsville, KY called Harper's that has the best catfish I have ever eaten. I have gone fishing before, no way I'd catch a fish by hand. I don't like killing anything so I prefer to have my fish already headless and filleted.

  • Cleaning catfish is a lot different than cleaning scaly fish. I used to do it when I was a teenager and Dad took us out fishing. Had to peel off the skin, and cut off the whiskers. However, they do taste really good.

  • I agree with you as well lol Buying them, so much easier.

  • Hey you changed the walls again!!! Home Depo must love ya!!! As for the fish I say eat farmed not wild. It may not taste the same but its fed a better diet. Tainted Tuna anyone?

  • I have eaten farmed catfish and river catfish. Far prefer them from the river. Pond fish get musty. Best catfish I ever tasted was stewed in Ugandan peanut sauce. I ate it with ugali (kind of like thick grits that you shape into a doiley to pick up chunks and sauce.) OK, an acquired taste. ;) As for noodling, seems more sporting that bait. Sometimes you eat catfish, sometimes the gators eat you. So we come up short a few people too dumb to checkl for water mocassins. Darwin Award time.

  • I don't get it. If you catch them by hand or by net or hook...it is all the same. It's food. Why can't they waste their time on other more important things?

  • I prefer Farm Raised....not as wild tasting. There is an art to cleaning catfish as well so it does not taste fishy.

  • Love the paneling! My trailer has faux worm word. Who ever thought that was a good idea?

  • Nothing wrong with noodling fish. It's more humane, too! I love river cat, but lake cat is good, too.

  • @genmama1955 I guess if I had to have it, it would be Fried....

  • i dont find the problem. its the poor mans way of fishing for catfish and being self suficient. i think there are more important laws that should have our senators and law makers attention. haha but it does make for a funny topic of discussion.

  • @Goldpeople1 Yep! They should be working on more important things!

  • I don't see a problem with it. I love catfish, but only eat it maybe once every two or three years. Wouldn't it be better then a hook? I use to go to fishing with my uncles, and had a few fish get away. They took the hook with them, and I would worry bout the fish, swimming around, in pain, with a hook in them! I would had more fun and felt better about trying to grab it with my hands.

  • @MileyMessersmith I don't think I would be catching many... might have to go to the store and buy one instead ;)

  • I imagine you'd feel quite prod to be able to catch a fish with your bare hands? America should definitely allow it,it seems more sporting.

    Love you too Jolene

  • @yogangel7 So good to see you!

  • I have grabbed rainbow trout, steelhead and salmon by hand. Don't tell anybody cuz its illegal as all hell.

  • @koalman I think that's silly too! Why is it NOT against the law to stab them with a hook?! Great to see you!

  • I bet they catch less fish that way, but have more fun. Maybe it's a good thing.

  • @OneCrankyFemale Yep, I sure wouldn't be catching many!

  • I have never heard of "noodling". After listening to what it is, I figure that is up to whomever wants to put themselves at risk...unless there has been a very high incidence of injury from doing it. I personally wouldn't do it cuz I can't imagine grabbing hold of a snake. LOL! But I LOVE farm raised catfish! In fact, since the oil spill in the Gulf, farm raised catfish is the ONLY fish I will eat.

  • @MyRealityBytes So good to see you! Yep, the Farm raised ones taste like chicken!

  • Hello Jolene, I am a proud Texan, that loves to catfish. If I so happen to aquire that wild hair ;), I would like to have that option in case my ol' fishing poles had failed me in a crisis. When great hardship falls on our families here in the near future, and we are working to get a meal to put on the table, then I would be glad to have the option to noodle for catfish without breaking the law. Most folks are afraid of snake bite, like I am. :) Great Videos! :) Catfishchic

  • I have never had catfish. I didn't know about noodling either! Can you tell I am a Yankee??!! The whole thing sounds nasty but if that's the only way people can feed their family, then go for it.

  • No catfish noodling should not be illegal...a lot of those guys go out there to noodle just so they can feed their family.

  • I have given up on catfish.... always tastes muddy to me :(

  • @freitasex You gotta soak the meat in buttermilk before you cook it....that gets the "mud" taste out.

  • If somebody has the ability to hold onto something that's slippery & slimey & wiggling around frantically, (s)he should keep it!

  • I don't have a problem with it, as long as they either put it back or eat it. I don't think it should be banned....i mean they have a show on cat fish noodling. I don't like cat fish, i am picky when it comes to some fish. I love flounder. Some people do this to eat...not all have the money to go to store to buy food. I try to grow all the veggies i like, so i don't have to buy them in store.

  • I think anyone should fish the way they want to as long as they aren't using chemicals or something that is going to be extremely harmful to the environment. For instance, people use those plastic fishing lures, and using those on the pole doesn't really harm the environment.Maybe there's people who can't afford to buy a fishing pole and they need food,so why not go catch some fish?

  • I believe that it is more of a sport then the hunters that have all of the ;tricky aids for deer hunting or any other sport...what about fish finders on boats??? I dont understand what the problem is with fishing with your hands???? this truley baffles me.

  • I'm with you< Jolene. i think Catfish noodling should be banned. Love you!!~Moonchime ❤

  • Hey Jolene .. Catfish is good.. but my fav is red snapper
