I think this song is about heartbreak and how people change from it. Those "broken hearts" are jagged and broken at places they weren't before. But those hearts may find their way into new relationships with other broken hearts. Somehow, these relationships may work BECAUSE of how breakups and hard times changed them. Forms in tessellations fit together perfectly, despite their jagged edges so maybe broken hearts tessellating means the broken hearts may fit together, forming something new?
