I lived in Germany for 2 years in Berlin and my wife who has a degree was jobless for the past 3 years there and her mom with a engineering degree was job less for the past 8 years,so I dont know what your talking about! The public option is the only hope for those who can't play the game of offering a profit for some corporation. The problem is, what do we do to get health care for the rest of America that can't afford it, or buy it for that matter, due to their health? It comes down to what we want....profits for insurance companies? Or health care for Americans.

I only have a problem with the public option because its setup to fail, not because its a public option, In my opinion, Single Payer is the only way to go. That way we keep the healthy young people in the public plan, to pay for the old and sick, a public option would become a dumping ground for the for profit system to dump the sick and they would fight to keep the young and healthy. We need to get rid of the for profit sector. Single Payer not for profit HC is the only way to go.

I think its great what they have there, I got sick in Germany ones and dint pay a thing. What I fear is the power the private sector has in our politics. That there will be heavy lobbying to have some coverage cut in the Public Op so that the private sector can make more money. It would leave a constant battle in Washington and always leave the public option at risk.

Reason they would use is that they need to cut funding.

Single Payer would be public option with health people.

We have this system in england. On one hand everybody pays into the national health system. But if you work for a big employer or you are rich enough you can use a private system (which sadly parasites off the national health system) which does cause problems. I believe the private system should have its own hospitals, clinics, staff instead of using national health facilities!

Well our facilities would not be national health facilities, they would be privately owned, we just pay via public funds. But a public option is set up for failure and here is why. Insurance companies are corporations, legally bound to maximize profits. So they HAVE to cherry pick the young and health and leave all the sick on the public option, the public option would drain government funds and would become a problem, we need the healthy in the public option to make it self sustaining.
