rokcp1303 you are so biased....you only uploaded a handful of videos that mostly shows the violence of demostrators while they are soooo many related videos showing police brutality elsewhere in Youtube. I don't see a single video of yours that shows riot police stomping on a woman's head and aggressive beating the shit outta protestors when they were only armed with candles. Yet you demand sympathy from the people by uploading animation of your rough time. Care to expain your one sided mindset?
I think that they are simply a huge number of rioters that the police find hard to manage. And that is obviousely because of the social and political problems south korea face today.not one side is right in its ideals and that is why not one side is the victor. All this proves how the government is disconnected with the majority of the people in south Korea You can call cops pigs or police brutality, or anarcist and public offenders but the truth of the matter is,not one side has the right.
it is difficult to understand why police let the demonstrators arrive up to the trucks and not stop them before. Then policemen let themselves to be squeezed between the rioters and the trucks with no space to fight back and look so scared
More when a policeman is surronded and beaten by demonstrators obviously no one in the police try to help him.
Apparently there seems to have no reel command and strategy from police.
Does not that explain why rioters can be so efficient against police ?
dont you morons see that the union , is being shoved in your face as an alternative and that the world bank benefits from unions anyway, so although protests are happening, its actually making them richer...
It is not allowed to use rubber bullets in Korea. Tear gas were used during dictatorship, but civilians are affected by tear gas and participated protest. Greatest riot to protest dictatorship in 1980 and 1987, about a 5% of people in ROK participated and that was real riot. You won't believe that they attacked police office and got a gun to fire against army, and occupied the office of a provincial government.
If McArthur has gone all the way to China, there would have been a nuclear war. Do you honestly think soviet union, which was then led by Joseph Stalin, would just watch U.S. building military base 500Km off its border? Remember that this was before sino-soviet split and sino-soviet border conflicts. Also, you should also consider the fact that U.S. showed its nuclear weapon capabality at the end of the WWII.
although these protestors are protesting for wahtever they believe. i still believe that violence is never the answer. i really think the korean combat police should consider using rubber bullets for the protestors thats using weapons and shit
"i still believe that violence is never the answer" Ok that's just fine. "i really think the Korean combat police should consider using rubber bullets" But wait a minute. You just said that violence was never the answer.
i am a korean. i dont blame koreans hating americans but i strongly believe that no matter what, koreans should always respect the americans/american militia for helping us out during the korean war. im not a big fan of us's politics and foreign policy, but everytime they go on war, they are helping someone so plz ppl, dont hate americans too much
Why do the riot police only have shields as a form of weapon/defense? The South Korean police dont get any other form of riot control? Ex. rubber bullet guns, tear gas, etc...

If the police were given the right to use brutal force as response, the civilians will be quite raging.

So is protesting Illegal in Korea all together?
Seems all these protests on these videos are 'Illegal'.
If workers are getting treated unfairly then they have a right to protest, anywhere and anytime.
Seems the government would rather send police to beat up protestors and instill fear than reason with the workers.

Well, Dictatorship is away from us now, but they still use violent power to resist.
According to Korea's history, We fought for Japanese and It's puppet, Communist, Dictators, and so on.
Historical reason may explain why riot in Korea, especially against government is violent.
