Father, also help my friend Lusine, help her, guide her, clear her heart and mind, for I care for her. You can do all
@VeryArtisTiC It doesn't matter buddy. You're a human being just like everyone else. We try to find things that would define us as different from others and ignore the ultimate truth., that we're all the same and we're all related. If you go back some generations you would see we all have common ancestors.
The word 'beauty' does not even come close to capturing the somber peace and reverent grace of this moving music. The Duduk, in my opinion, is an instrument that is a gift from God to allow us to hear the deepest groanings and emotions of both God's and man's hearts expressed as holy melody and holy prayer. To Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior - Amen!
Waow ... This music is just a masterpiece , it makes me thinks about my armenians ancestors , their life , their face , their feeling ... Armenia always in my heart .
I appreciate your photoes, I went to Armenia without a camera, but now I can look at yours. Thank you very much. And I like your norwegian video as well. Familiar places. The duduk isn`t sad, the sound is touching, make you feel uplifted and spiritual.
Incredible song, in Mexico we dont know much about these far ancient cultures, but thank you for the post. Could you please tell me the name of some cd's of Levon Minassian and some kurdish music albums? Thank you.
I am having difficulty putting in to words how this moved me! It is music that seems to have reached out from the long, distant past. Very soulful and beautiful! Thank-you for sharing this with us!
(HYMN OF DOXOLOGY) THE FATHER HOLY, the Son Holy, the Spirit Holy. Blessing to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
It's somewhat sad yet inspiring. It is very broad, a wide, endless landscape. The music itself needs you to be complete and yes - music is a way of approaching, searching and unveiling the truth about ourselves. It is God that we are searching.
I wouldn't describe it as dark. What is being played here is an ancient Armenian Hymn, a powerful prayer that gives us hope and a gentle light in a world that itself has become dark and burdened with injustice caused by greed, selfishness, violence and the persistent persecution of innocence.
Let me clarify what was intended on a very positive comment for wonderful music. Some wind musicians have a good sound but don't have that special sound that only opening the throat can make. Listen to the double reed english horn musician who can open the throat while playing beautiful phrases and you will hear a "dark" or "beautifully lush" sound rather than a "bright" or "tinny" sound...incredible musician and the sound makes my heart full of a response I cannot describe in words.
I used to live in Beirut and once I took a road trip to the south of Lebanon and stayed there at a vegetable plantation. There were a group of Kurds working there who used to live on the plantation in a humble one room house. They honored me by inviting me for sweet tea in their modest home.
Over many glasses of sweet tea and listening kurdish music, I learned that they were refugees from the Kurdish villages that Turkey attacked and destroyed in the 90s so they moved to Lebanon to work there
The oldest man there who was near his 60s told me a story his grandfather told him, about how the Turks told the kurds in 1915 that they were having a holy war against the Armenians and encouraged the Kurds to help them in killing the helpless Armenians. Many did. His Grandfather was one of them and many decades later he told his grandchildren of his regret for joining the murderous killing parties that again and again attacked Armenian villages and pillaged them and killed their inhabitants.
Then something magical happened, I remember very clearly how the elderly Kurd started apologizing to me in the name of his people for what their ancestors did to mine. And I looked around and was touched by the sincerity of this man and the regretful and humbled looks on the faces of the younger Kurds sitting around him who also were shocked to hear of this story. I felt a sudden lightness in my soul. I had no bitterness in my heart, only gratitude for the recognition of my people´s sufferings.
May God bless those who made this music. It gives me so much peace in my times of anguish. Brings me closer to my God when I stray away from Him. It reminds me of who Armenians are and who they are supposed to be. Keepers of the faith, True to God and humanity and all that is good. Loyal friends to those who are weak and stand alone. Fighters for righteousness and Justice and the truth.
I can´t wait till I get the chance to light a candle and pray in each and every one of these churches. I look forward to the day I will be in the welcoming embrace of my motherland.
There have been rumors about that since as far back as I can remember. The Turks are very cautious and suspicious about any activities on Ararat since it's right on the Border with Armenia. The Russians have had a huge military presence there ever since the 90's when the Turks threatened Armenia with military intervention because of the Nagorno-Karabagh conflict. It's good to have a powerful nation protecting us. I just hope they don't bail out like they did during WW1
It´s sad to think that this is only 10% of Historic Armenia. How much more did we have that is now lost forever? Churches dismantled stone by stone. Khatchkars broken into pieces to hide the memories of the nation that carved them and planted them there. The earth still is soaked in the blood of our noble ancestors. The mountains and hills still echo their chants and prayers. God knows the truth and He will bring justice to our martyrs.
Brother, thank God that you still have your own land and culture. We Assyrians have lost everything, most of our people lives now in diaspora, only a few thousands still live in our historical land!
I know, we keep forgetting how your people suffered the same fate as us. Can you point out some literature that can teach me about what happened to the Assyrians?

May God bless all people and nations.
The true Church is that of those people all over the world, no matter what their race or religion, who
practice righteousness, who fight for justice, who give to the poor, who love those around them and help
them in time of need.
The true Church is made up of those whose actions are their prayers.
The true Church is made up of the merciful, the gentle, those who thirst for righteousness.

It's Mount Ararat. Considered by Armenians as Holy.

I should have known that :). I believe the Turks do not want archaeologists going up there as there has been found the remains of a very large boat.
