Hi Ive had SI joint pain since 2000 at times so bad I get depressed. Recently I acquired a wheelchair as walking distanes, steps and slopes are near impossible. As pain increases when sitting for long periods I have to regularlry get out of wheelchair for relieve I get funny looks!
hey, i was just curious to know if you have ever been a runner/jogger? Even if you dont run regularly, have you tried running/jogging lately? If so, how does your back respond afterward? Are your legs the same length? or is the right one still shorter than the left? thanks for your reply!!!
1-The correction(s) happened so gradualy and i saw so many specialists that its hard to exaclty figure out why is it that im feeling better or should we say that im feeling less pain. I do have some specific things that im doing in order to get ride of pain quicker when they occasionally come back.
2-The belt, I'm not using it anymore as stated in many posts, i should redo the video.. I had another ready for release about this problem. The belt didnt really solved anything, m-b in rly bad days.
right ankle under my left leg and above my left knee. Then i push my upper body up, push up style, while pushing my hips toward the floor, my inside right thigh toward the floor. It helps. I finally realized this isnt about stretching.
Above all physical attempt, one things thats really helps me is when u get out of an HOT bath you BRUSH ur skin kinda hard with a rude towel in the SIJ areas and also all arround the pelvis, a litle bit softer on the abdomen...
Pain goes away so quickly now.. but it's kinda hard to explain everything like this..
Some of those thingS can look ridiculous to some but damn it helps.. I'll try to write down a complete guide about the things i did to feel better and then ill sent it to you. We are all diffent, in my case, stress is having a direct impact on the pain so managing the stress really was a good starts. When im in pain the massages with the towels really helps to relax the pelvic muscle and release the tensions.
When you were corrected, did the therapist give you glute excercises to do to help it hold. The glutes are what hold the si joint in place.
I am curious to know how you are doing. It is very hard to find someone who knows what they are doing but I hope that the people at DMC can help me. They work with the TIgers and other sports people and seem to know so much more than most therapists.
true, and yeah i'm doing a lot and a lot better but i think ill always be fragile..Like ur telling if some of the therapist made the correction, it didnt hold in place... So thats why i started to do things on my own. I'm feeling great most of the time and by the way im going to do some roller-blade just now with some friends ! I think the muscle in the area are still very fragille and unbalenced and for sure i Look foward to know those exercise ur talking about!
My right side is hypermobile. I have been through a lot of therapy with people who don't know what they are doing. I am going back into therapy but at DMC in Detroit. Because I have been out for so long, my muscles are not firing correctly. When dr. puts me back, my muscles remember to be out of place and just pull me right back out. I am facing muscle retraining and corrections at least twice a week.
I've suffered with this for many years and I'm really sick of it. Frankly I'm skeptical at any physicians ability to help SJD sufferers. I feel the only hope is a supernatural healing or a shorter life. I resist drugs but every now & then it's so bad & I get so tired of seeking stretching or pressure relief that I may drink or take a narcotic pain reliever. A large margarita from Tacos Garcia in Amarillo does wonders for it, if only for a few hours! Tennis balls & belts, I'll try anything.
Yep, ur right, i'm really starting to learn how to live with it, i gave up on physicians also... I used to suffer for monts, now i'm only feeling bad for 2 days when pain accur.. Most of the time its because i was feeling so great that i forgot i had a problem, or because i had a drink and i went doing sport.. :)
Hey how's it going, I came back to check on you now and tell you about my way of getting rid of the muscle spasms when they cause great pain, I lay on a tennis ball to make it relax, as in pressure points are done sometimes like this, at least it is something I can do for myself and maybe you can get some relief sometimes. Let me know how your doing and have a beautiful day.
Hey, i tryed the "tennis ball thing" a years ago but back then i didnt knew that the misalignement was caused by invuluntary muscle contaction (spasm) i'l try it back now that i know wich muscle to message. I'm curious to know the exact spot where you need to roll that ball to get the releive.. Man, getting ride of those spasm as soon as they show up looks like the best sollution to me !
I don't massage with the tennis ball I just lay on the floor and put the tennis ball under me in different spots until I find it hurting a lot believe me you will know when you are on it it hurts more putting the pressure on the spasm but it smothers it out like pressure points in Japanese medicine I think it is, after you get up you will feel way different because the muscle will be relaxed
Great video, very informative,. How you feeling these days? Is your correction holding still? I could really use some advice with SIJD cause I'm pretty sure I have it. I have all the symptoms with no back problems. I've seen 3 PT, all agreed I have a stuck SI joint on the left side which makes my right side more too much. What ever that means. I've had a X-ray which was perfect, no problems with spine.
I'm doing so GREAT! What a releive, those pain were really terrible.. as soon as they show up, make sure they go away! From what i've read, every one gets cured from different methods... basicly you have to correct the missaligment and the musle spasm/contraction thats goes with the pain. Stay away from the stress and dont let that problem ruin ur life !
Hi I have had arthritis since I was 14 years old. I will be 38 this month. I also have SI joint pain and a ruptured disc at the L4/L5 region. I tried injections floroscopically in my right SI joint. No releief. I had an epidural done in May, my pain went away but it is back again. I will likely do more injections soon. I think I will ask my Rheumotologist at my next appointment about that belt (I am female so I hope they have one). Do you wear it all the time or just around the house?
I know your pain. The SI pain is worse than pain I have ever had in any other joint. It is on my right side too. It sends shooting pains to my hip, knee and sometimes all the way down to my ankle. I see you posted this sometime ago I am wondering how you are doing now? Any updates?
Hey, i'm feeling better! really, like WOW! it's been 2 month i don't really have any serious PAIN!! :)
I have a question for you when you say "I also have SI joint pain and a ruptured disc at the L4/L5 region." Is this visible on X-rays or RMI or it's only from a specialist diagnosis? Anyhow, sorry for my previous answer i just read it back and it was barely readable ;) Keep in touch !
Sorry I just went through all the comments you left others to see where you mentioned you stopped using the belt. I didn't see it as an actual reply to my comment 2 months ago or earlier today just that you are controling the pain and feeling better. I'm glad you found relief. Good luck.
What's that belt doing for you? Taken some of the pain away? That's why you're still wearing it and still complaining of some pain? I have this problem and I don't know what to do about it. Warm Wishes
as i said a litle bit sooner, "Just want to say that i'm not using the belt anymore... there were'nt any result out of it."
sometime when i'm in deep pain i use this huge lumbar belt that help by removing weight on the sij but it's not really handy and gives abdomen pain... wich really isnt good...
if you think you have say an upslip and you actually have something else, messing around with it yourself can make things much worse..i speak from bitter experience.but also, like i said, many "professionals" who said they understood the problem didn't have a clue and made things almost catastrophic in my pelvis .. so this is the biggest problem you face. sorry.i'm starting a phd in this next year to help people like us from going through unncessary suffering.i'll keep u posted. bonne chance
you are 100% right thanks for commenting, I realy think there is sumthing wrong with my scarum. Sacral problem should be fixed before pelvic bones or together... Ill find somebody competent enaugh soon! (i hope)
sounds like a misalignment in the SI joint. perhaps a sacral torsion accompanied by an upslip and/or rotation .. firstly, find somebody who can diagnose what you have and correct it ... this is the biggest problem, most people i saw made me worse!!!then, get tightness out of muscles with massage and strength core muscles and relengthen limb muscles (especially leg muscles) with pilates. don't use SIJ self correction techniques unless you can restrict rotation of sacrum
if u do have the same problem has me i have to say "im sorry". To feel better i must stay active while i must always be careful. Take a 20/30 min walk everyday, stech in the morning and most important is to be careful when going from crouch to standing while you have some heavy things in ur hands... do it slowly and listen to ur body. Other then that, Swimming can help, here i'm still searching and hoping to have a miraculous correction cause there is sumting mis-align in the SIJs regions.. G-L
I'm feeling so much better, as soon as i'll be sure i'm fixed i'll post a guide about how i've got ride of the problem. There is many different way pelvis and sacrum can be out of sync so i guess evrybody have to find the proper treatment/exercise according to its own situation. As i'm feeling better groin pain, leg, knee, foot and for sur lower back and sij pain are going away as well. I'm kinda not feeling crooked anymore when when going from crouch to standing. Good luck every body...
if use the belt too long time then it will make that part muscle tight and smaller and not work there. so after using it, must do pelvis exercise and some other exercise to train muscle again.I think u have known many method now. I feel happy to know u feel better.I can not drink wine to replace .medicine.
Hi, I also have SI jioint pain for many years . I understand the feeling of it.hope u feel better now.I cant catch all ur meaning bcos my english is not so good. I will try to watch it again and see how much i can understand
I have the exact same thing. Many people do, Search SIJD on any search engine and on youtube. Stay in touch, Im trying just as hard to fiqure this out. Some people have fiqured it out but only with the help of a doctor in Finland.
Anyway stay in touch, the more information the better
So I forgot to tell you that I'm having problem standing on my right leg (no balance, the side of pain and the instabillity is)
And if you know where to fix it in Canada/Qc we could have a chat with utube msg system
Also forgot to tell you that i found out that in order to use this belt when you are in pain it's better to lay down on the ground, do some exercises and then put that belt when you are lying on the ground, before going back on your feet. Hope this help ppl !
Hey, Im struggling with the same problem. You should keep in touch with your progress and I will with you. I have spoken to many doctors who claim to be able to fix it but location is a issue. Im in Calgary. Same age, same problem, Ive dedicated my life pretty much to fiquring this out.

Dudez, I feel for you, but please...
1. What were the mechanics of the 'correction'? What did the therapist do?
2. Doesnt the belt force the wings of the ilium toward each other in an unnatural way?
I got it bad too, man.

Any help would be great.
What i do is: Laying face down, i cross my

When the adjustment is not holding means the ligaments are not holding the SI, maybe due to long injury to those specific ligaments.
A solution for you, and me (I have the same) is to do the adjustment and get prolotherpay.
This may help to heal the ligaments and joints to keep the SI in place.

So you stuck with the belt and got all your relief from that?

Hi smash,
Thanks for your video. It feels good to see that I am not the only with ths problem.
I was wondering where you come from??? From you video I can pick up that you speak french. I speak, since I am in Montreal.
Anyhow, can you tell me which specialist helped you the most? If you happen to be in the Montreal region maybe you can give me some referals.
Thanks and take care of yourself.
