In the song he's talking about a girl that's lost all of her trust. She's emotionally exhausted from being in relationships. There are many metaphors that suggest there were lot of difficult things going on in her life. He takes than in, he understands it. It sounds like the girl needs a break from all of it..I think he's saying, 'I know that you can't do this now so I'll see you soon.' It's just such a beautiful song. One of my favorites.

It's the feelings that u get hearing the song that give its actual meaning..... Personally I agree with you but that doesnt matter..... To sum up.... I think that most of Coldplay's songs are metaforical intentionally..... in order to be able to express numberous emotions!
