lol Well if they are all on road bikes and lycra, then how is it any different to a 'tour de boring' downhill stage?
But on big dh rigs, (ok with slicks) & armour, would still leave it an even playing field, but be a fish out of water scene! Then roughing could come into play; hence "road rage"......would be waaaaay more exciting! superdhderby
OMG get off your high horse ya hypocritical poser! Of course, an 8kg road bike is going to be faster down a road course than an 18kg DH bike! But, you completely missed my point, blinded by arrogance i presume!
I reckon it would be more entertaining!
As for the tour de boring, yes its like watching paint dry, sure they are great athletes, they certainly can pedal well, but that doesnt really interest me! I race DH, now thats exciting, and takes REAL riding talent to be fast, not just fitness!
don't get me wrong i love dh too. i'm just sick of the whole roadie vs mtb bs... all the good mtbers I know ride road too ... even the dhers. the aim of racing is to be as quick as possible. i don't see how being slower will be more entertaining just because they are riding dh bikes. that makes no sense at all
@wheyez If you were a real cycling athlete you would appreciate and respect riders of all disciplines. You would also understand that road racing takes a tremendous amount of skill...in addition to more physical fitness and mental toughness than you will likely ever understand. I've done both and I can tell you that road racing is harder...also more likely to get killed or injured. So, don't be a douche and talk about something you don't know about.
Guy in the yellow has his Rock& Republic team kit on with no padding whatsoever! Dont crash... Some of the guys on here can sprint 45 mph on the flats... As far as dying, you wont as long as you dont hit anything! Just miserable road rash that allows you about 3hrs of sleep a night!
dude i know i love that buz noise it is so fun i like that feeling when the steering feels akward when you pass 25mph, riding bikes on dirt is so over rated
Some of those guys were hitting speeds of 65 mph. At those speeds, hitting the brakes too hard could cause rapid tire deflation. If you go down at even half that speed without a helmet, chances are you're going to die. Pussies? I hardly think so.
You can crash at very high speeds and come out alive and in good shape as long as you dont collide with anything. The rider you saw took quite a bite of time to come to a stop, im sure he only suffered some bad bruises, was probably pretty sore for awhile but quite probable he didn't even break anything.
@boostedbird23 "hitting speeds of 65 mph" Hell, it's downhill -- you don't need hair to do that, sometimes abject stoopidity is all it takes. But going UP a 15% grade for 4 miles at 7 mph... that's where you won't be finding any pussies.
@skoockum Well, sorta. It's pretty scary to ride downhill on a road bike at those speeds. It takes mental fortitude to push yourself at LT up grades like you are talking about. Mostly, I agree with you.
I'd rather be a road cyclist pushing 70mph with class than some retarded meat head downhill racer. Break your bones, you useless turds.

Crazy, Tuna Canyon has some insanely tight corners.
Hard to believe this road used to be two lanes, until part of the road fell in the canyon.

Just find some hills and start practicing.
You get such a buzz from zooming down a hill at speed. Overtaking a car is always fun! LOL

65mph is an insane speed.
I have hit 50mph a few times without pads, helmet and that was super scary!
Big respect for those guys, would love to race them though!!

@boostedbird23 50mph isn't a big deal in a road race, its pretty common. i've done this in tights and a small styrofoam helmet. good fight.

I agree, dude I hit 50mph on my local team rides..this whole Road Rage thing isn't that cool.
