Im struggleing to make a descent deck, i got the full set of innistrad and magic 12 and a few from the phyrxia/scar/mbs block, but i recently came back into it but im lacking the ability to stick cards together and how many to take.
@JB22881 there is a minimum of 60 cards in 1 deck, and if your gonna make a mono colour deck, take 26 lands of 1 colour, and if its non mono then look at the card colour to adjust the amout of colour land, but always have 26 lands in 1 deck.
@RealShaun to start off thats good, if you dont have all the pooling and sometimes are in trouble getting land, its the best to start off with much lands
@RealShaun He's wrong, maybe not mad though. Lots of decks, pod, solar flare, wolf run, they all have 24-28 lands to ramp ASAP. It all depends on your mana curve. Other decks like Tempered Steel only run 19 lands. It varies incredibly.
Well 26 definitely is too much. You want to have 3-4 Lands in youre starthand, so a ratio of 1/3 is good, equals 20 Lands... With fetching in a Ramp deck thats even more efficient.
@RealShaun I try to be polite but when people are fucking wrong and continue supporting their fallacies I get pissed. In the World Championships a few months ago, a top 8 deck used 26 lands AND Bird's of Paradise, Primeval Titan's, Solemn Simulacrum's and Rampant Growth's. Yes, fetching AS WELL AS 26 lands. Why? Because Wolf-Run needs to hit all it's land drops in the hopes of hitting a turn 4 titan. 20 lands is only good in a VERY low cost deck, like tempered Steel.
@RealShaun And 20 lands = 1/3, and 1/3 of 7 cards in your hand is closest to two. 26 lands is 26/60 = 13/30, and 13/30 of 7 is only 3 lands, so if you really want 3-4 you'd need even more. Think before speaking next time.
Also, in those World Championship decklist, another deck ran 25, one had 24, one had 21, and four had 19. The last five were all very, very, very low cost decks. Unless you're running 8 zero-cost cards like Tempered Steel does, you'll need the ~24 I mentioned.
@AlexeiDmitri its about how every deck plays. take my B/R vampires for instance. its a 70 card deck with 25 lands, 11 mountains, 11 swamps, 2 shimmering grottos and 1 stensia bloodhall. In almost all my starting hands i get at least 2 lands with a maximum of 5. And also my other deck eldrazi-chandra combo is an 80 card deck that has 28 lands and ramps mana. Its how every deck plays. But, a very good advise to have dual lands to be able to add more cards in yur deck. :)
@vanory1997 Yeah, dual lands are essential, and you're very right that every deck is different.
Just commenting on what you've said, I'd cut cards from your decks. If you're just playing casual then it's no deal, but in any sort of competitive game NO ONE (mostly) ever goes over 60 cards. It's true that some do run 61 or even 62 cards, but no top 8 world championship decks have EVER run anything other than 60. I really would recommend 60 cards, but do what you want first, of course
@AlexeiDmitri yes i know thats why i built a werewolf deck with 60 cards and im trying to cut cards from my other deck too, but i find it very difficult to reduce them. As for my playing, u must know i live in Greece, so not many players are around to test how my decks work. But from the few players i've played with, i think my 80 card eldrazi deck can make it to the top 8 cause i've added a few more lands to a total of 31, with more ramps to make it more efficient.
@vanory1997 No offense but no deck, no matter it's build will get in the top 8 if it has 80 cards. The less cards your deck has the bigger the chance you draw all your essential cards. If you crowd it out, even with really good cards it will immediately start to lose efficiency. You must ONLY go over 60 if you have to add a card in that is utterly essential to the build and your win condition, and even then you shouldn't need to.
@SeishinBunretsu at the moment im playing only with friends but i really want to compete in a tournament to put my deck to the real test. Thats why im trying to build now a blue black control around 60 cards
@ArmageddonAxel * Guys sit at a table, and open an unopened back of Innistrad (The newest set at the time of the video). They take one card, and pass the rest to their neighbor. They do this for all of the first pack, then do that two more times, so everyone has three packs worth of cards. You then try to build a 40 card deck (including 16-18 lands) with what you've picked and play against others in a best 2/3 tournament. It's really fun
I think I know that guy! (David Saylor) I can't quite make out his face but I knew this guy who went to our card shop who we called 'sailor', but I can't quite make out his face, although his hair is the right length. Except he isn't wearing glasses.
Wish i could play like that! no one round here plays magic :(

@vanory1997 No worries, this is only for competitive games mind. If I'm just playing friends or something I think 70-80 deck size can be more fun.
