  • @HaloCE14 I hope they do, but i have a correction for you its not a Niagara its just a northern that ran on a railway in Mexico.

  • @modeltrainman12345 The Mexican railroad called their Northerns Niagaras like the NYC did.

  • @sgprailfan ahh I did not know this thanks for the info

  • @modeltrainman12345 Any time.

  • Thanks for uploading! I believe the caboose went to the Tyburn RR, don't know if its still there. Art gave me my first cab ride in a Baldwin diesel!

  • It's either 1986 or 87. The closet squirrle was a pun on the town of New Hope itself. I'm suprised no one raised a stink about it. I'm sure today things would be different.

Bill Coffey, Danny and Art...Ed Sevasco...all instrumental people in keeping the RR afloat at the time. Art patined most of the coaches into the Reading Green. Lettered them too. That would be Danny's girlfriend selling the tickets in the baggage.

Only one person left up at NH today from back then.

  • If it's '86 or '87... then by this point the McHugh family split, and thus the downhill spiral of the NHSR would begin.

  • Actually "closet squirrel" referred to one of the McHugh bros. "Squirrels" were railfans and after the split between the bros. (Jimmie and I forget the other), it came out that the other brother sort of liked trains. Hence, he came "out of the closet."

  • Anyone know where that caboose is located now?

  • the one behind the baggage car, i have no idea of what became of it.

  • that wood sided baggage car has seen better days. it's on one of the sidings at wycombe, rotting away.

  • very rare footage, great to see the old faces too. I knew Mr. Coffie, he was a nice guy.

    Len.

  • Both New Hope and Strasburg moved away from the colored "circus train" look of the 60's, 70's, 80's to a more serious, authentic look. Yes, #40 was out of service between 1987-1990 and the SW-1 was used, it was painted PRR. Looks like here it wasn't painted yet, it said Amtrak on the cab.

  • Great footage! How things have changed.
