  • Its amazing for me to see this. Some of this footage I have never seen before, like the footage of the Carpathia with I think the lusitania in the back ground

  • All of these people are dead!

  • 07:04 Jack and his mates!

  • It's amazing that this footage is nearly 100 years old...

  • This video has one 'dislike.' Gonna go out on a limb and say it's the iceberg.

  • I shears that as titanic was pulling out it accidently tore off one of the steel things on the dock that are used to hold the boats. As this happened some one said " oh, oh tearing that off? That's bad luck"

  • Is the Olympc, not the Titanic.

  • So the titanic, sails from new york to england and then from england to new york, and happend the acedent?????

  • @enginelover1 Why don't you just READ the caption with the video? Engage brain BEFORE opening mouth please

  • il titanic rimarrà la storia x sempre quel 14 april non lo dimenticherà nessuno

  • they should do another maiden voyage on 14th april 2012

  • raise the titanic and get some restoration and use it again. or leave it respecting the dead.

  • Ive had some glass plate negatives in my possesion for some time which i only recently got round to contact print and scan...bit of a rush job..anyway, theres one of a large four funneled ship moored up with some tugs at its side which looks, though i cant be certain, like a famous ship possibly mentioned here. would you be interested in seeing the picture and letting me know what you think.? I very much doubt this image has ever been looked at before. martainmiller@hotmail.com

  • The guy punching the air is fantastic. Just goes to show that you can do the, "Look, Ma!" anywhere. :0)

  • Sad thing is when titanic when down the people that never made the lifeboats would have died very fast due to the temp of the water so in a way 'twas the best way to go rip x

  • 04:24, why is it that the stern is the one who is moving forward??

  • @sontriggerman21 Because the Olympic had to reverse out. Usually that would've been the case but for the Titanic because it was the maiden voyage they wanted her to move out more gracefully so they had her turned when the ship went into port.

  • kool :)

  • Carpathia looks like a really small ship. I can't imagine where they put the extra 700+ people.

  • @Joe145631 - My video caption clearly states this is OLYMPIC and NOT the TITANIC

  • This is the Olympic - not the Titanic.

  • Wow.... Heartbreaking.. It almost brought me to tears.. Where'd you get this video?

  • Interesting that they should have gotten the name of the Carpathia's captain wrong. It was Arthur H. Rostron, not Rostrum! Not only was the man a hero in the eyes of the American public (in the inquiry conducted by the US Senate, he was the standard against which all of the other ship's officers involved in the disaster were measured), he received a loving cup from the Titanic's survivors and a gold medal from President Taft himself.

  • Starting from 4:21 notice that someone has deleted the names of the tugboats. Who and why would do something like that? Same in the beginning of the Captain's scene. Look at the door!!

  • @toy2day - It's to obscure the fact the tugs are New York harbor tugs.

  • @Jonno71 Really? How does that came from? And what about the door behind the captain at 00:33??

  • makes me cry

  • Vcs estão se enganando! Aquele trapaceiro!!!! Essee vídeo é do OLYMPIC, Não DO TITANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ThomasAndrews1912 - If you had read the video caption you would have noticed it clearly stating it is THE Olympic and NOT the Titanic.

  • R.I.P to all those who unfortuanly did not survive The disaster :/

  • I can't figure out why starting at 4:21 the film editor blanks out the names of the assisting tugs. Liability issue? How so?

  • @mayonpi - It is to disguise the fact they are New York harbour tugs

  • 1:05 emergency telephone to be used in case of AN ICEBERG!!!! HOLY GEEBUS

  • @CohiodaMohio22 - Good job the ship is berthed up in dock then, as it was when this film was when recorded onboard ;o)

  • why the heck do they call the ship SS Titanic at 0:20?

  • @rgur90x - Did you not read the video caption?

  • @rgur90x the titanic was the RMS Titanic and the RMS means Royal Mail Service

  • @ADHR26 uhm... i know that. why do you tell me this?

my question was why it says ,,SS Titanic" at 0:20 when that was NOT the name of the ship. people dont seem to get that question.

  • @rgur90x dont know then maybe its a typo

  • @rgur90x because it's a steam ship?

  • @OlympicClassShipping yeah that's the only reason i can think about. OR this newsreel is just really really porrly researched.

  • @rgur90x it is because it's a steam ship, I also believe it says 'SS Titanic' on the Lifeboats... Not to sure.

  • as of this past year all of the survivors have now passed away.

  • I wish some of you would just shut up.

Like any of you really know "anything" about the "real" Titanic. Once you get a clue, contact me please.

well done video :) thank you for sharing!

  • Can people please READ the video caption I posted AND the 2nd caption at the start of this video. If you read those there would be no need to keep saying "this is not the Titanic, this is Olympic" because I already stated that fact

  • @RaiseTheTitanic1980 sorry, I've read only the Title.. it should be the most important....

  • the ship at 4:57 is not the Titanic, this is the Olympic, because Titanic has windscreen at A Deck (windows at the front half of the deck) and Olympic does not... its a great video though!

  • @JourdannChrisstian - As my caption in the video states, this is NOT the Titanic, but her sister.

  • @JourdannChrisstian i thought that too about the A deck promenade but later found out that titanic's promenade was not enclosed until 3 weeks before the maiden voyage

  • this videos are from the olympic!!!!! not from the titanic !!! the titanic and the olympic are sisters, they are nearly equal!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrmsiCX600 - Yes, I know. As the caption to the video states the ship seen in the footage is Olympic. But this movie was shown to theatre audiences in 1912 and labelled as 'Titanic' to make those believe it was the ill-fated liner.

  • Posted by "silenceofthehills" - Sorry I accidently deleted your post by mistake

I was wondering why he passes over the white thing that looks like an ordinary film scratch in the beginning, and then when the camera goes over it stays in its place.

I asked myself weather it was ment to be an after effect that was ment to be smoke or steam.

  • @RaiseTheTitanic1980 - The "scratched" out panels you see are on the negative. They were put there to cover up any named connections with the port, which in this film is New York. The footage shows OLYMPIC and the film makers removed the connections such as harbour tugs name plates so to confuse people into thinking it was the TITANIC at Southampton.

  • I would give so much just to stand on the deck of Titanic.

  • olympic and titanic are twins

  • They were sisters, not "twins". Both ships may have looked similar to the untrained eye, but they were both very much differant to one another.

  • i know but because the looked the same i assumed they were twins sorry xx

  • No problem :O)

  • This is amazing footage. It's fascinating to see footage of the people I have been reading about such as Captain Rostrum and especially Captain Smith. One of the survivors, Rev. Stuart Collett, is from Syracuse, where I live!

  • Thank you :O)

  • Thank YOU for all of this excellent Titanic material you share. I was hoping to find a good Titanic-themed channel on YouTube!

  • Wow Fanstastic! thIs is wonderful quality! Thank you so much for uploading this! But do you know where I find more newsreels like this?

  • Thank you for uploading! I have never seen some of the footage before...and it´s in good quality too! 5/5

  • You're very welcome.

  • keep on posting ;-)

  • Some of this footage was used in National Geographic's Secrets of The Titanic . It is played very close to the thought lost footage of Atlantic (1929) ,which was a film about Titanic ,even being stated that this newsrell is part of the film .

  • BFI's 'Atlantic' has been released into the domain. Although its not a genuine release, I have 'Atlantic' on dvd.

  • I did not had the luck of seeing it . Do you consider uploading in parts ?

  • Something has been painted out to look like an imperfection at the beginning

  • Yes, both the name of the dock and tugs. This was a crude way of covering up the fact the footage was filmed in New York.

  • The Deliberate Scratching Off On the Footage Is Because This is Moslty The OLYMPIC Titanic's identical Twin, Those Imperfections Were made To Cover Up nameplates Etc So The Audience Wouldn't Be able To Tell The Differences. However The Footage of Carpathia, The Captain the Survivors Are All Genuine.

Lets Take A Look At Captain Smith, Umm yeah He's Still THE SAME CAPTAIN So it Really Doesnt Matter, the Footage Is AWESOME though Because we can get an idea what these liners looked like.

  • hey....videos are very common....see my videos.

  • Yes, this video is fairly common if you know where to look. But what is differant is the quality. The quality vary's. This is a nice clear video, hence why I posted it.

  • Here in the UK, the BBC (British Broad Casting) have in their archives much clearer version of this film. Sadly they have watermarked it when viewing via public domain. The BBC footage may be posted elsewhere on YouTube, but I wanted to post up a version, this version, that is still original and un-watermarked.

  • Thanks, i´ve never seen all of these scenes.
