Meh - bought a GuitarPort and none of the software works in Windows 7. Finally got it working and it wanted me to pay to use any effects at all.

Anyway, this was just to get it working on my wife's computer. I'm quite happily running it through Jack on Linux, with Rakarrack for effects and Audacity for recording. There's also drum track and synth software, all mixable via Jack. Oh, and it's all free.

not to criticize but you should probably plan out your video a bit more b/c it seems scattered and disorganized.

Maybe write down a list of topics you want to cover AND mount the video camera on a tripod.

You can use the guitar port also with something like reaper or any other recording software, and the gearbox acts as a plugin, so you still have the effects and models, plus you arent limited to making loops in a set bar length. Plus you can use ezdrummer with reaper and do full drum tracks too.

@barrybar22 well it is easy. plug the GP into the pc, has to be online. follow the window prompts, to register the GP and you will get the line 6 monkey, to load gearbox and drivers. riffworks will recognize the line6 device and you will get amplitude also, i believe, if you buy the standard edition of riffworks. the line 6 riffworks version is no longer. i'm not sure how that works now, i've had the program for over 2 yrs. and have a line 6 ux-2 and podfarm. in my opinion, the ux-1 or ux-2

@Ninetentown Not quite sure about Logic express, but GuitarPort shows up as a standard input device in a lot of softwares I have tried it with (Audigy, GarageBand, Reason).

pay attention to your levels. if your levels are peaking during recording, turn them down. peaking levels cause distortion during playback.

well you can either plug it into a speaker, a pair of moniters, or a guitar amp if it has the red and white inputs. it will not come out of your computer speakers

it will take a microphone with a guitar jack input. but it sounds like ass even with if you compress the sound and everything. so no it really dosent. it would just sound horrible. even acoustic guitar wont work miced.
