Why do all rhythmic gymnasts roll on their side? It doesn't look good.

So they can always see which direction their apparatus is falling in. The blind spot is quicker than if you rolled traditionally

hehe my friends always ask me why i do forward rolls on my side, and over my shoulder x)

It's much better doing rhythmic rolls, it doesn't hurt the back of your neck like normal rolls do!
