  • @jazzturtle...considering i do the whole gospel, jazz and neo soul thing on my trumpet....you and me both know the importance of originality in those genre's of music....we have our own style....block chords are a no-no at pv...what about famu...originality is a must at all times......

  • Tubas need work. Also, band should work on releases!!! It was better than some I have heard! Loved the ending!

  • Sounds great...but why are members sittting while our anthem is played. Let's remember those who are currently in the fight for rights and freedom. As well as the lives that have been given. This is why we stand in honor and in memory of those souls. Peace & Love .....

  • @fronetta they are sitting because that is the woodwind section...they sit always while the band plays (brass)...in every school band and HBCU they remain sitted......nothing rude about it!

  • best on youtube and in the world your number one fan

  • very very good....good job pv....finally

  • whys it so slow

  • This is the best i have ever heard this song played or even sung!!

  • If u dont beleev dat itz da best, re-think your decision afta you listen to dat modulation at the end

  • Diz arranger iz da best out dere kauz it waz played wit much emotion and heart. Prof. Edwards put his heart into diz arrangement which iz y we kan feel it in our heartz wen we hear it. R.I.P. Prof. Edwards

  • To all of you who think you have to play everything traditionally... you will never stand out. The reason Prof wrote this was to make sure we stood out from the rest.

This rendition is the best I have heard and I am not biased. I hope we all can enjoy it without bashing. Listen to the chords, and the movement, feel our PROF put his heart into this arrangement.

  • dat was beautiful. who wrote this arrangement. please tell me.

  • This was arranged by the Late, Great Professor George W. Edwards...Director of Bands at Prairie View A&M University.

    RIP "Prof"

  • yea he must have been a wonderful director. and arranger. i luv the mello part its very colorful. the arrangement is jus so beautiful. makes u proud to be an american.

  • RIP Prof. Edwards

  • As a fellow musician, it is beautiful and the chords are nice even in the fleeting tones with the major 7ths and all, but I also agree that this is too much of a traditional song to have all these fleeting interpretations going around. Once again, nice rendition of the version that Whitney Houston performed at the Super Bowl(I can't remember the exact one or year), but the furthest that I can go from the standard version is the arrangement done by UAPB.

  • IDK...I'm having mixed emotions about this arrangements....granted, very nice chords with the escaping tones and major 7th and all, but I feel like its not appropriate for such a traditional patriotic song. Some stuff should be left more traditional than others. Just my opinion though.

  • Its traditionally a beer drinking song to begin with. I really don't see the problem with it as I have seen other dramatic interpretations of the National Anthem that haven't been criticized for their liberty.

  • @jazzturtle this arrangement is actually based on a performance of the Nationa Anthem by Whitney Houston when she sang it many years back at the NFL Superbowl to honor troops in the Pursian Gulf War...so to knock this "arrangement" would be to knock that performance which the whole stadium and pretty much all of America (except you) loved. I honestly think its beautiful(chords, dynamics, fell period) and is awesome for its originality, im almost sure we're the only school that plays it this way.

  • its not all about the band and the athletic program now. U gots to get yo Edumacashun

  • This is the way PV has played it for years. Even before I went there.
