@BassManGilbert If you listen to the lyrics there are quite clear links to 1984 in most of the songs. But i agree with you, we, as muse fans should support muse' decisions. Personally I liked the resistance (album) it was different and it came out just after i read 1984 for the first time, but i must admit, there is a showbiz shaped hole in my heart these days...

One song was. If you take issue with lyrics based off literature there are a number of brilliant musicians you should not listen to. To span the genres and give two examples, Bob Dylan's early work and The Cure. You did not have the analysis to back up your statement, therefore, you shouldnt have made it.

There's also a large difference, to me, between songs on "The Resistance" which are drawing heavily from themes found in 1984 (there isn't just one) and songs of a similar nature like, say "Killing an Arab" by The Cure. Namely, that I enjoy the latter but not the former. Why does it bother you?
