This is an eternal episode where the ultimate truth is making the great warrior Arjuna to follow the path of truth and fight the holy battle but the dumbo king or a cruel gestry of imprudent evil Dhitarastra is rueful about this fact. Instead of moving in the right path, he blames supreme and eternal truth for puddling Arjuna. What a jack?

Is this great epic Marahabata and the battle of Kurukshetra a very good description of what is happening today. It is not the battle between (religious and political) ideologies, but between the two choices we all have - truth or untruth. Individuals, political leaders and nations all have to make this choice - truth or untruth. And the real truth can not be known until we have defeated the dark shadows in our own hearts - shadows such as fear, arrogance and greed.
O Mahabharata so dear to me, I am back to hear again the pastimes of my Lord Sri Krshna. This happens to be the first episode I watched and after watching all 94 episodes twice, I'm starting here, again for the 3rd time. This has to be my favorite episode, the beginning of Bhagavad-Gita. All glories to Lord Sri Krshna.

Also u not differ the word swyam bhagwan and bhagwan.because u follow the Suraha where said.
And they ask you (O Muhammad ) concerning the Rûh (the Spirit); Say: "The Rûh (the Spirit): it is one of the things, the knowledge of which is only with my Lord. And of knowledge, you (mankind) have been given only a little."
-Surah Al-Isra' (The Journey by Night)
First read the other scripture before comment.Krishna is jagat guru. And our religion guru is the god.Not messanger.
Krshna, you and I have always existed and always will. The real question is the state of mind not just the belief. Ask yourself would you like to spend the rest of eternity in the same state of mind you are in now.
Everyone has written something important and deep about this episode, and what I am about to say should have been said earlier on rather than when there's such an intense discussion. I've always had a crush on Arjun even though he is not as handsome as Krishna. I think it has to do with his character's humanness and intensity. He sort of represents what the audience is thinking.
The notion that we should fight regardless of the body has led many people to state hinduism believes in renunciation, but I think it's the opposite. Krishna tells you to embrace life, to live it passionately, to fight and accept risks and pain as a natural thing. On the contrary, we Christians are so used to the idea of a "salvation" that we avoid pain and therefore, we avoid life itself. We are so obsessed with fame and success that we forget to enjoy life regardless of what we win or lose.
that's not true. renunciation is an important message of the gita. chapter 5 of the gita is even named renunciation, because it's devoted to explaining that subject. but krishna's renunciation is not going to the forest and escaping society's troubles or your duties. nor is it giving up life in battle. krishna's renunciation is to live life, not for the sake of enjoyment, but for duty. renounce the fruits of actions and surrender them to god. do the actions (your duty) for their own sake.
I was saying exactly what you said, that Krishna doesn't preach about a passive renunciation, I only used different words.
I have noticed you use the "that's not true" phrase a lot. It's just my opinion, but I sincerely think there isn't one single truth, but many interpretations and multiple levels of understanding. Even if you have read the hindu texts and I haven't, my truth is as worthy as yours.
"Krishna tells you to embrace life, to live it passionately."
This is the part of your earlier statement which made me think you and I were talking about different things. Because Krishna says that we shouldn't live passionately, that our senses should be withdrawn like a tortoise withdraws its limbs.
As for "that's not true," you're right. I use the phrase way to often. Still, I should clarify that I'm talking about truth in terms of fact, not philosophical truth.
I'm not saying we shouldn't live life passionately. In fact, I personally agree with you. I just don't think that's what Krishna is saying in the Gita. Perhaps I'm wrong about this; I'd love to discuss it further. :)
As for relativity of (philosophical) truth, doesn't that work only up to a point? If your interpretation and mine are mutually exclusive, how can they both be true? Mustn't there be some absolute truth behind the apparent relativity?
@GiselleKan the life isn't mainly about renunciation--that's just the LAST stage of life;because that's where you can attain salvation...
krishna says that so that one lives life fully, completes his duties and jobs in the lifeime, and when it is time, to renunciate and after ataining moksha;he may leave the body.
I love this episode! It almost brought tears to my eyes to see how Arjun is afraid of killing his own kind, just as we are afraid of killing our own habits and all the things we got used to when we need to transform and seek the new. When Krishna said "rise up and fight", it made me realize the hardest and yet the most necessary ability in life is the capacity to take a decision and act firmly when we need to fight our inner wars in every day life. .
@GiselleKan The need to fight is to fight for justice (which is Dharma) as pointed out by Lord Krishna "Tumhe un shaktiyo ka vinash karna hain jo kisi draupadi ka vastra haran kar sakte hain",when we fight this war its not us but the supreme lord himself who fights through us.
Tibetan book of living and dying gives a plausible explanation of transmigration. Also, the kathopanishad. The thought that the mind and the soul die with the body is just a belief too. Boiled down, the soul can be equated to pure conciousness. The analogy of light works well. We cannot observe light, but confirm its existance by the objects lit by it. If there were no objects, we could would not know if light was there or not. For instance, when we are in deep sleep:
the objects of consciousness are not there, but we are alive and the pure consciousness is there as subject, yet we there is no awareness of it. So similarly, after dying it could also be said that objects disappear but pure consciousness remains. It is one point of view...
hindusim believes in the notion of reincarnation, that you are not a body, but a soul that dies and reborns into different bodies and lives with the objective of acquiring a greater spiritual consiousness in each life, so you can finally rejoin to God.
god and the soul don't exist according to YOUR BELIEFS. I have no religion at all, but I am happy believing in such concepts (I respect the puranas but they are just texts written by certain people with certain beliefs in a certain culture and time).
exactly, they were written by people not gods as most people believe. however it is a problem if people belive a convoluted version of the texts. and they arent just 'my beliefs' they are fact-God dont exist
I won't start a useless debate of the fact that there is no evidence of god's existence, but you cannot also prove he/she doesn't exist...and I don't care whatever book says about it. God exists for me.
Who said god dont exist, the truth is god exist in our mind and our belief but certainly not as shown in mahabharata, 4 god sake Shri Krishna is not god, he is a messenger. If you a brahman, please read ur vedas to find correct defination of god (formless, can't be seen etc),,,if you still dont believe it , then u r simply accepting that vedas are wrong which I doubt, if u want reference let me know,,,god is one, no form, no birth, can't die, can't be seen etc)
Krishna is not messanger, idiot vedas never said anything about messanger or prophet its the Abrahamic religion thought.Never speak idiot god never exist in some unknown place it exist in urself who knows that he is self realised and after getting purna gyan he is become ultimate or he is indifferente with ultimate.
But is he a god as per you? If yes, then from tomorrow I will take away clothes of young girls when they are taking bath and will say"I will do what my Lord has done"....idiot, i agree with a lot of thing what krishna has said and taught e.g. stand against ur own if they r wrong...but certainly not all .....and I defy him as a god...there is only one supreme lord.....whom we call allah, bhagwan, waheguru, god....no one will ever c him, this is his amazing creation
Allaha is not ultimate. Its a pegan diety and if there exist god which not exist us then where it exist.Take an example of Zakir Naik,Allaha creat VCR.but Vcr has many owner as universe has many owner then where ur logic stand for a suprem lord.Krishna is swayam bhagwan.Means the bhagwan which exist in us but we not know him due to our selfish desire. The name of krishna remove this selfishness and the God then seen by us.
U idiot what a stupid answer to my question, And whr am I saying that Allah is the only or ultimate god. I said there is only one and one lord and u call it allah, bhagwan, god, waheguru...names r different but belief is one. But when u say krishna is bhawgan that is when things r not right, how can u compare a mere mortal to the supreme being. He is the one who created krishna, Prophet Mohamad, Jesus and ten gurus. These ppl have done more then krishna has ever done for humanity
U r so pathetic brain not understand a simple thing,if god creat us and god not exist in us then wat happen?Any one control us.Also u may said krishna dwipayan vyas was mortal but the krishna is God.Because first krishna is ultimate in every para of mahabharata. Also Muhammad done nothing for mankind only teaching kill the other who not belive me.Read suraha tauba properly.
Continued: So shoud we also call them god's. No coz ecven they have said they are in the world bcoz of the supreme and to spread his message. And u also call Ram god.I beg you for one act that rama has done to be considered as god. He killed Ravan coz he took his wife, but wasn't that normal in that age. KIngs use to fight for women, land etc.And from my understanding Ravan was a much better king to his own ppl than rama can ever be. I can't c a ny logic in calling Rama a God as well.
Rama in ramayana is god but if u said about some otherking then u wrong. Its the problem of ur teaching which said Allaha-Alsamad but otherhand some angel carry his throne. If some one on some objective limited throne then he is also limited object not ultimate. Also Ravana was great person so Parushuram one of his friend but he has no control over his desire and so he was killed. He was not killed in war but killed by violent attribute of himself.

Krishna says 'anaarya' which means inevitable and not un-aryan. Please correct this mistake.
He says 'inevitable' because he is saying that doubts of this kind appear in people facing such a situation. and he DOES NOT say 'un-aryan'.
Not to mention the word 'Aryan' is not really in the Hindi/Sanskrit vocabulary. The only word that is 'arya' from which the word 'aryan' has been formed.
I have been reading comments of you guys and everyone has interpreted his/her own sense of Geeta.I have my own and what I have interepretedis after long analysis.
If you understand the formation of our universe, you will know that it is all made of energy. And by Einstein's E = mc^2, it is obvious that every type of mass in this universe is made of energy (even human body). If human body is alive and it is moving, it means that there is some energy in it. When it is dead, energy is lost and escaped in to the atmosphere with no limits as it can travel to anywhere.(Those who took High School Physics must be acquainted with this simple fact).
Where does our Aatma go after we are dead? It is released into the free atmosphere mixing and remixing with other free energies and converting itself into different types of masses(not necessarily human body; could be a planet, star, metal or non-metal, etc).
When a dead body is cremated, its mass will convert into some other type of energy and it will too escape into the atmosphere. But the energy which is keeping you alive now, is called your Aatma. Therefore, God is nth but the total energy, mass and the natural forces which exist in this universe. This implies that if you convert the whole mass of this universe into energy and combine it with total natural forces, it will be so big that nth would surpass it.
The process of energy and mass conversion is possible and has been proved in science but if you wanna go into details, you should take some astronomy course and try to visualize it by yourself. Like Krishn said that we were,we are and we will exist; it is true as the mass can be converted into energy thus it will never be destroyed but only can take another form.
Here important part is the philosophy of Geeta which is very practical and true but I think you should look at it not only from the spiritual point of view but also as scientific truth.

Not to mention the word 'Aryan' is not really in the Hindi/Sanskrit vocabulary. The only word that is 'arya' from which the word 'aryan' has been formed.

What are God & Aatma? What is sth which can't be created, destroyed, burnt, dried and be wet in this universe? Only one thing: ENERGY!
