  • does it do image playback right after you take a picture?

  • Yes (like any modern-day camera)

But I recommend you NOT use it.

First shoot photos, then shoot some more.

After the moment is gone, then you go and look what you've gotten and delete the stuff you don't need. ;)

(just like old film camera's this gives you much more great shots)

  • how is this for taking action pictures like a skateboarder or something

  • pretty good you just need to be in good lighting and use a fast shutter speed

  • Get a fast lens (low F numbers)

  • If u have the highest photo settings, how manny MB is 1 photo?

  • I take it you're new to DSLRs, lol.

    MB are never the same.

I may take one photo and then take another one seconds later, and the MBs will be totally different. ALOT comes into play when measuring MBs. But I have the D60 and I have a 4G card and I can take over 500 photos in fine quality.

But like I said, MBs vary.

  • Also, the brigher the photo, the more space it takes.

If you have an overexposed complete white photo, it takes up more space than black pixels. No info, or color info per pixel.

So you'll probably fill up a card faster on vacation trips than you would on night photography settings. But thats just a slight difference, dont worry.

Just to show you that MB's vary per photo. And when I shoot i sometimes go with RAW and switch back to normal or sometimes take photos with Small resolution

  • I have a D60 myself as well, and I shoot pictures on Fine quality and Large format, the size is around 5MB per photo

  • dude nice video.

    i'm a noob on dslr.

i'm planning to buy this later.

and i guess nikon is much better than canon.

    :)

  • So true. Besides Canon needs someone who really knows all the controls and all, very hard to control if you're still new :)

  • does it have shallow depth of field, what about the manuel focus is it any good? is the camera worth buying? whered you get it from? sorry for the questions.

  • The LENS has a shallow depth of field yes.

It can go to aperture f3.2 at 18mm and f6.5 at 55mm

The kit lens isnt really designed for manual focussing. you can turn the plastic end of the lens about 2,5cm for focussing. Which isn't very precise compared to other lenses what have a special ring in the middle of the lens that let you adjust the focus very precise and smooth manually.

I bought it in my local Photography Store.

A photographer+lens makes a good picture, cameras will just capture it.

  • haha and whats ISO XD

  • light sensetivity

  • i dont understand whatt that round thing in the beginning, what does it mean with that ?

  • Could you be more specific? i'm not sure what you're asking. (mention the time in the video where you saw what you didn't understand)

  • ...its either nikon d60 (which i love) with no AF for prime or canon 450d/xsi with af motor and dop...cant decide!

  • nikon d60 or canon 450d???

  • nikon!

  • Agreed

  • hahahahahhaha cant you read the "NIKON" right in the front of the lcd? its there the entire video.. ahhaha. im sorry, nikon d60 was that clear enough?

  • He was asking for advice, not what you see in the video.

I'd recommend Nikon. Great lenses. Great quality.

  • nikon

  • i would disagree, only because with a canon you get more for the price.

    go with the 450d

  • Yeah, but I made the review when the D60 was JUST out.

Now the price has dropped like 200 euros or more and all those 2 lens + body deals make the D60 cheaper and the 450D came out later and also has a nice price.

Choice between Nikon and Canon is very personal, allthough I think Nikon has great quality products.

Especially as a mucisian and also being in photography/video, I learned to buy something very good a little later rather than buying the thing you can get fast and cheap and test.

  • Oh and also, the 450D has live view... but that's all.

    I'd compare 400D and D60, and 450D and D90.

Nikon's D90 has live view.. but also HD video+sound recording: being the first DSLR that records video, beat that.

That means not just any HD cam.. because camcorders come with very cheap basic quality lenses compared to what quality lensens you can put on your SLR.

But overall, all DSLR's from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Minolta etc. will be the same, they follow eachother up in features and drop prices.

  • I buy it for 1600zł thats 800$ with lens. Good camera but it'a a little bit too heavy

  • Yeah it's less convenient for "holiday snapshots" but good for when you intend to take some time to make good shots.

  • Mac

  • ???

  • I've got Mac :)

  • Yeah okay, great. But that doesn't have anything to do with the Nikon D60 camera

  • lol

  • thx.

  • hey am 15 and dont no much about photography only the basics iso shuter speed ect.. am wondering if i should get a nikon d60 or pay lees for a d40 ?? i want to learn alot !!!

  • Well, the D40 D40x and D60 don't differ that much. The D40 is 6MegaPixels. and D40x and D60 are 10MP. They all have a 18-55mm kitlens. D60 has a more customisable menu & dust removal system. This is all very new and great.. but a lot of ppl used D40's in the past. So its still a good purchase. Especially since there are 2 new cameras, they lower the price of the D40.

I'd buy it and get a Good lens with it. 'n if you can make it a D40x. from 6to10 MP for a few bucks more. But its not a necessity.

  • cool camera.

  • hey does the battery need charging when when u first take it out of the box?

  • Yes it does. It's not a MacBook :P.

I was in a situation where I bought the camera. Went to another city with my GF and stayed away from home for quite some time... all the time I was very eager to go home and charge the battery to see the camera in action. Makes you very happy about your purchase :)

  • that camera looks sweet. i am tempted to get one

slightly off topic but i just came back from amerterdam today. its such a beautiful city. i just wish i had a camera like that to take photos of all those brilliant buildings.

  • Hi, yes I can understand that.

I just got back from Berlin (germany), boy whas I glad I took my D60 with me. Took some of the nicest photos I ever took there.

Berlin is HUGE, and in 3 days you can't get it all.

I took 950 photos in those days. I think you'd probably do the same every day in Amsterdam

  • Good unboxing review.

Do you plan on doing something to showcase the D60's features?

  • nice review. :) does it include an external flash? If no, then how much do you think the external flash would be?

  • The D60 has built-in flash, but if you need something more powerful, you can purchase external ones, from $300 - $500.

  • is the VR function stalk on d60?

  • only if you gut that lens or another 1 vith vr

  • thanks for everything
