lol Ohh man that is so fken awsome Orcas are so fken awsome, big in size, awsome in cumunication, and one of the best killers i seen ^_^ Orcas Rule the sea
Not necessarily. Transient orcas depend on a stealth approach to their prey. They may not be comfortable with a boat in the area but no one should speculate that they are afraid. Resident orcas certainly are not. They come up to boats all the time. Most marine mammal will give boats some space. Except some dolphins and porpoises that like to ride in the bow wake.
This was a pod of transient orcas which are meat eaters. If they had eaten recently then they could have been showing the younger whales an attack as practice. They often do that. Also sea lions are tricky prey as they can do some damage before the orcas will tire and drown it. Another issue might have been that the boat we were on was closer than normal and may have been a factor. We saw the orcas approaching some distance off and stopped the boat well out of their path. They approached us.
great footage!
