He was on house arrest until Aug 08 at which time the judge allowed him to go to New York for the summer. The judged later terminated the rest of Beard's sentence (non-Jena 6 related) so he can go to Canterbury School in Conn (Paris Hilton, JFK, etc went there). He is reportedly using Jena 6 Defense fund money to go.

Things like this just make me sick. One would think that blatant racism such as this would be over and done, but apparently not. I may not be from the south, but I have seen a lot of violence at my school based purely on race. When will this stop? The Jena 6 have my full support.

They attacked him and robbed him according to witness statements, including Robert Bailey. He says he and his 2friends were about to fight the one white guy who ran to his truck. The man grabbed his gun for protection and was jumped by the three kids. they didn't even deny that's how it happened in the witness statement. And it was 6-9 kids attacking Barker. With many more helping out buy keeping help away.

You mentioned a 6 on 1 fight that never happened, even though that article addresses that issue. If you are really trying to approach this case without bias, please explain why you think the bias is so "clear cut".

Blacks kill more in EACH YEAR than the whole post civil war lynchings combined. A lot more. Clarence Paige (black,liberal columnist) wrote a piece about it just a couple of weeks ago. The numbers he cited were between 4,500 - 5,000 estimated lynchings from the late 1860's through the late 1960's vs a little over 8000 black men murdered in 2005.

You think it is clear because you've only listened to the defendants who are trying to get out of harsh penalties for a harsh crime. No, there is a clear double standard. One fight is 6 on 1, no criminal prosecution. Another fight is the same, but with no weapons, 6 attempted 2nd degree murder charges, dropped down to 2nd degree assault charges.

There is no other fight that is the same. That is a fabrication. Why don't you go online and read Bailey's own words in his witness statement about that incident. He mentions a man hitting him in the face and then tussling with another guy who swung at him. He also mentions that his friends (there were four of them) were scuffling with other people there.
There is ZERO reason to believe there was a 6 on 1 or anything like that.

I don't understand something. How come everyone is up in arms about the Jena 6, yet we hardly hear shit about the case of the guards killing that kid in the Florida bootcamp and getting aquitted? Seems to me that a group of guards killing a teenage boy and getting away with it should be far more important than defending 6 violent kids who beat another kid unconscious. What am I missing here? Is it because some of the guards that beat this kid to death are black?
