  • awesome stuff

  • A VERY young Sir Elton. No one could rock like she did! What a gem this perfomance is! Love ya', Madam John! <3

  • love dee on the piano!!!

  • Elton John with this band was one of the best live acts of the early to mid 70s..

3 plus hours.. he and this band gave it everything they had.

You got your money's worth to say the least.

  • Holy shit! Amazing but I think it's too fast, sorry Elton! It loses it's panache.

  • @Lowebrau Must be all the speed and coke in '74

  • these Elton shows ROCKED!! In his day he put on the best concerts, unbelievable piano player!! Unfortunately today's shows lack much of that intensity... I saw him this past March (2011) at Madison Square Garden and it was a far cry from his concerts i saw at MSG in 1976. He looks and sounds old now... not the same anymore!!

  • when the rock was young yehhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Wow! What a great show!!

  • Incredibly Elton

  • Adored him back then & still do.He made the piano way cool!

  • hes a big miget look at his hands that will tell you and his srot arms

  • Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is just demonic. WOW! WOW! WOW!

  • The bass is incredible both here and on the original recording. WOW!

  • Can anyone say COCAINE?

  • you have a drug problem when your band has trouble keeping up.

  • AWESOME F*CK!N JAM!!!

  • w.a.s.p version rocks!

  • omg Elton, what are you wearing.

  • Saw Elton in '75 when I was 15....best concert I've ever been to!! EJ Rocks!

  • This is how you remind me of how nickelback are horrible shitheads

  • i respect elton johns music....but Nickelbacks version ROOOOOOOCKSSSS.....thumbs up for Santana, the greatest guitar player ever!!!!!

  • @addo1001 no nothing

  • @MrodElmo what, no nothing !

  • Di anyone see Nicklebacks version of "sad but true".Chads voice was poor there was it? Didnt rock?

  • Davey Johnstone is a kick-ass player.

  • these shows were great...i was there when they came to the states...elton was at his peak and he'd rip the roof off the arena...the thing was that over three hours he'd rock he'd sing ballads...pop, rock, country, r&b...he had it all..and he wrote this stuff and had the voice...i marvelled at him and the band...you'd leave the arena shaking your head...thinking how talented he was...nowadays they have katy perry and lil wayne...imposters

  • @SkunkDroppings Wish I could have see these early shows but I was too young and saw him only on TV. Growing up around classical piano players, he made the piano much more fun.

Bernie Taupin wrote all the lyrics to these songs, Elton the music. Elton said they never worked together in the same room...he'd give Bernie the music and then Bernie would come up w/ lyrics, say, for this song. Think about that. One of the best writing duos ever, I think.

  • @SkunkDroppings It's the passion. You don't see many bands play their hearts out anymore. Sure, there are acts like Iron Maiden that still play like they're 20, and Pete Townshend can windmill like a motherfucker in his 60s, but there just aren't enough musicians that get up on stage and perform as if their life depended on it. People need to get out there that really care about the music they're playing and play it. More than play it. They need to blow the roof off with it.

  • really good song for a saturday night

  • And Ray Cooper rocks da house!

  • Elton Kicks Ass ! Alright!

  • @JCE1972 He's like that in a video of Eric Clapton and a bunch of other people playing live on Layla. He was givin' it on the Gong. At least I think it was him

  • @xKinseh If I'm thinking what you are that other performance was in 87 after his throat surgery. He was obviouisly coked up and his voice was still healing but he sang his ass off!

  • @weirdguy75 I meant the guy on the Tambourine! Not Elton :P

  • are you an idiot? were you in honolulu, hawaii on 1/9/10? i was! you know who else was? elton john...and ray cooper. performing live. kinda hard to do a show when youre dead.

  • @dtoma7 yeah that is hard, he must be really talented!!!

  • dude, i just saw elton and ray in a concert. just the two of them...and they killed it! ray's bad ass. so um F U!!!!

  • What da fuck? Ray is dead..... Are you confusing him with Stevie Wonder???

  • @KidVlogger317 ray is still touring with elton to this very day

  • I know, I was trolling.

  • the best of elthon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ROFL!

  • LOVE these prime EJ live clips!

If I ever was in a bar room brawl, I used to say, please let THIS be the guy spoiling for me...

  • he didn't profess to be.....it's a slice of life thing......

  • I remember thinking at 8 or 10 years old, when this came out... that EJ doesn't strike me as a bar room brawler....

  • Terrific musicians!!! What a inspiration and competence!!!

  • a total anthem

  • Great bass line, drives the whole thing.

  • appart from the studio recording this is the only version I like, fast, people jumping. It's a spong that requires so much energy to be interpreted. other wise it sounds lousy

  • Comment removed

  • Wrong, its written by Bernie Taupin and composed by Elton John - How can it be a cover ! ! ! !

  • I know Queen covered this song...but don't think the Who ever did...not saying it's not possible just never heard it if they did

  • The Who's cover is on the "Two Rooms" tribute CD. I prefer EJ's version. I guess I'll have to check out Queen's version now.

  • He is sensual with this shiny tights

  • Don't think the Who ever did this song...

  • 2:20 is his bj face

  • Saw this video a year or two ago and loved it, took me a while to find it again but it's damn worth it. Love the song, love the performance, love it!

  • só o elton mesmo !!!

  • he's even more flambuoyant than i thought

  • Nickleback arn't fit to suckle on my hairy balls

  • @SpunkyMcBallsack Nickelback is gay as aids

  • @SpunkyMcBallsack I'm sure they would the first chance they get. Nickelback sucks the big one!

  • wow........

  • hey, ray cooper is there :)

  • grand rock and roll!!! this is a real cooking song

  • the best song ever!!!alex from italy

  • IMO this song sounds like the Who.

  • The Who covered this song!

  • The best rock ever made

  • ... No

  • The walking up the stairs and each step lighting up is pure 70s rock star overindulgence!!

What happened ever to REAL rock stars anyway?

  • You tell us, Tommyrock69

  • eltons still around rocking baby!!!

  • Him and Bowie are the only real glam stars left

No more Freddie, no Marc, Gary Glitter is locked up as he should have been 40 years ago to save our ears from assault.

    Very sad indeed

  • Sexual orientation has nothing to do with the ultimate talent Elton John displays!!! he puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I've been to hundreds!! Long live the Queen!!!!!

  • That was amazing..Wish they had shown the handstand, that would have been awesome!

  • yea

  • sweet

  • Dee Murray has to be one of the greatest bassists ever! Nigel and Davey just kick the band in the ass with Elton just rocking out on piano.

  • couldnt agree more joe...

  • RIP Dee

  • no it doesn't

  • Surely! as gay as george w. and everybody else...

  • that might be one of the dumbest questions ever!

  • this fruitcake can play!

  • Still a great song!!!

  • Hammersmith Odeon... The Gods of Rock Born Here!!!

  • RIP Dee Murray!!

  • this is a awesome song

i lov most of elton johns great songs!!!!

  • great, elton you're DA MAN ! :] , btw , he wears those glasses on the caribou album , where yu can see the lyrics ;]

  • awesome vid! just need better sound quality, then youre all set.

  • if you're going to make a dumbass joke like that, you should probably know how lame it sounds when you reference someone so obscure that you have to draw it out to explain who they are.

kinda like if i said "hey, you're as stupid as larry linville, the guy who played frank burns on mash"

  • what the? who did what? and when? splain lucy

  • There is smoke coming out of the piano!

  • Ray Cooper is a madman! Elton was at his very best. This could NOT have been any better. This is what perfection looks like. Wow!

  • better than what i expected with ray cooper on percusions eltons energy and the band!

  • That was so amazing, I'm speechless! I don't know what to say...Perfect doesn't cut it.

  • Holy shit, that fuckin rocked.

  • WOW that was amazing.

  • personally I wish he would release all his concerts on DVD!

  • Thankyou I never tire of seeing/hearing ELTON!!!
