  • I have a lobster just like that, and I just witnessed him molting. This is an amazing process.

  • @jjjazzycraig its a lobster, lobsters do not age like humans, they only die of sickness and competition

  • now fish him out and eat the bugger

  • @shamrock608

eat your fingers that typed that nonsense. not everything is food.

  • @ratcrib y is it nonsense ? they taste good

  • @shamrock608

you know there is something wrong when instead of appreciating an animal or any living thing for it's wonderful beauty you lust after it's flesh and can't think of anything else but consuming it.

  • @shamrock608 Lol, i wish. If i'm not mistaken that is a blue australian crayfish. Fresh water lobsters aren't really good for eating. I have one of these guys in my 80 gallon tank about 7-8inches now. He's getting ready to moult soon, hopefully i can catch that on tape. I'm getting tired of just finding lobster husks.

  • wow. Fascinating. Thanks for posting this.

  • soft shell lobster?

  • just like a snake

  • Very Kool, I have a Blue Lobster he has molted 5 times and I've never seen it.

kol video though! centipedes eat their old shells after. kool to see that stuff :)

  • wow... it looks alot like a crawdad!!!

  • haha nice it looks like it just relaxes at the end.

  • The fish should have attacked when they had their chance!

  • what do like really young lobsters look like?

i was at a crystal beach in galveston and i found this shell fish that looked just like a lobster head and no tail. well its tail was tucked under its body. it was about the size of someones thumb and was whitish pink.

  • That's about what they look like. It could have also been a little crawfish, I think they're far more common in shallow water than lobsters are.

  • Im pretty sure that's a crawfish

  • 1:31 "Phew! I'm spent."

  • Once he gets out of her old shell, its like he relaxes and said 'Freedom!' lol

  • OMG, a nude Lobster!

  • @KarilsTiger D: GIVE THE GUY SOME PRIVACY!!

  • nice attempt at break dancing near the end

  • What is for lunch?

  • hi i'm thinking of getting a pet lobster but i dont really know how 2 look after it, i mean can u put it in a tank and will it be ok like a fish. can some1 help please. great vid by the way.

  • now that was pretty neat--how long does it take for the new skin/shell to become hard?

  • wow, it just threw away its armor and made a new one, just like crayfish.

  • wtf it jus gave birth to itself no parents involved it brought itself to the world!!!awesum

  • No, it just shed it's skin.

  • are you sure that shit is not drunk?

  • mine one is bigger than this

  • that guy is pretty big i bet he poops alot lol

  • Yummy, now when you cook it, you dont have to crack anything(=

    LOL jk

  • It's funny how after the lobster came out it's shell all the fish came to watch it.

  • wow

  • lol hes all bendy

  • this is awesome.first time to see it...do they moult when it reach 14 lbs?

  • they moult their entire lives

  • Thanks for the information. We were lucky then to have Lobster KONG and saving its shell now hanging of our wall.

  • I think you're supposed to leave the shell in the tank. I heard the lobsters (or cracbs?) eat their shell to rebuild their calcium levels for their new shell.

  • Lobster KONG was a 14 lbs Lobster, can't leave the shell in the tank. It's hanging on the wall.check Kong's videos.

  • actually they only molt when they grow. if they stop growing they stop molting. and they do stop growing :'(

  • but they grow from 14 lbs KONG to 18 , to 22 etc..so the still moult I guess...

    Nides

  • ok so it grew and it molted... that's what i'm saying. if it molts that means it's gotten too big for it's exoskeleton. maybe they DO moult even when they don't grow but it's not on the regular basis. I've had a crab for 3 months that eats fuckloads of food and never moults. he ate a bunch of baby fish that died on me :(

  • lol looks like he taken his shoes off after a hard days work

  • wow, cool! never knew that they do that!

  • moult! moult! moult! ¡Son los caballeros de la mar!

  • Everyone wants to argue that it's not a lobster. Truth is they are sold in pet stores as a "Red Lobster", therefore people think that's what it is.

  • he looks very relieved

  • PS Like soft shelled crab, you have an opportunity for soft shelled lobster, yum~

  • is it being raised as a pet or for food? O.o kinda odd having a lobster for a pet, no offense intended

  • not really and this isn't a lobster its a crayfish or crawfish crawfish are fresh water lobsters are salt

  • Woah. Never seen nothin like this!

  • This is a Australian lobster you fucking dick weeds who know shit, i also have one, if yours died you dont know how to look after them and therefore know jack shit about them.

  • ok a little info, its a crawfish not a lobster lobsters are, and yes it is a pet i used to have one but it died :(

  • and garys737 IS A MORON

watch the whole video you idiot and learn a thing or two about aquaria before you open your fly trap

  • Your animal is sick, not moulting>>>>>>

  • awesome, i have the same kind of lobster, i've never seen him moulting though, i always wake up to an empty shell!

    Dan

  • A little creepy, yes, but very, very beautiful. Thanks.

  • lol, it's cute how the fishes are just watching when the lobster moults.

  • Would you eat it?

  • That's really cool. Is this a pet?

  • cool video, i finally caught my lobster molting check out my channel for the vid.

  • Look at the fish checkin' it out.

  • I agree.. Its obviously not a lobster, they have larger claws, and small eyestalks (small ones) and dont swim like that thing did.

  • Its Kinda Sad that nasty comments make it onto an innocent video that someone kindly put up for the curiosity of other peoples similar interests.

Anyway, cool video dude, I have a lobster too but never seen him shed his shell.

  • creepy but awesome

  • thats not a lobster.. thats a crayfish... dont you see freshwater fish on the background?? =_='

  • Forget the water this thing is in. It's obvious that it's not a true lobster in the first place, given the size/shape, as well as the claw shape. More like a large prawn or a langostino.

This post comes from a resident of coastal Maine.

  • look, I know that's a crayfish because I have some at home and I know how they look like, and as well, the fishes that are in the background are FRESHWATER PLATYS, so you are completely wrong on your statement.

  • Hush, silly. *Not* completely wrong. There are plenty of freshwater varieties of prawn. That's why I mentioned that the of water made no difference: as there are prawns and langostinos that exist in freshwater.

  • I never said it wasn't a crayfish, you thick idiot. What I was attempting to indicate was that it was obvious in the first place that it wasn't a lobster, and that your indication of the type of water this is in made no difference. It was immaterial; unnecessary.

  • hey, calm down you filthy ass mexican, I wasn't insulting here, I was arguing like a normal person, so settle down your little nerves and learn how to dialogue like a normal person would do.

  • as well, you never said that it wasn't a crayfish, but you said it was a langostino or a prawn, and what I was intending to indicate was that you were wrong, so the only thick idiot around here is apparently YOU.

  • ...or *you* are the fool... for wasting so much time to make a moot point with *irrelevant observations*. And for presuming I'm Mexican. I've been to the country once in my life for 2 hrs. I may have some capability with Spanish, but I have fluency in German, Welsh, and Dutch. I'm a fourth-generation descendant of very non-Mexican Europeans who came to the U.S. Now, kindly hacete coger, & bwytwch cachu.

  • this apparently was no waste of time, because you FINALLY after many comments learned something about crayfishes and I finally learnt that the word DIALOGUE means absolutely nothing to you.. and I point again, dont be such an aggressive little asswipe on your little dissing comments when my only intention is to make a point.

  • and I dont give a shit to your muddled up nationality. This was some"immaterial and irrelevant information" like you say. Now I hope you understand that you are being a little bitch just because I made a simple point and realize that you were the one to waste your own time. You could perfectly ignore or just be a little more humble and understand the point I was making before on this little fucking video.

  • Now I'm the one that doesn't want to waste my time on such an ignorant asswipe like you, so shut the fuck up and get along with it.

  • You have made a mistake.

  • Lobster Dying sound better.

  • Ahhh time to lay back and relax..

  • The fish looked curious right after it separated!

  • LOL... yeah, it looks like the fish start rubbernecking!

  • Freaky! O.o xD

  • Real nice! howd u get a lobster.. if it IS one..

It's pretty big but arent CRAYFISH freshwater and lobsters SALTWATER? I know for sure that platys are tropical which is freshwater so...??? Saltwater dont go well with freshwater

  • if you check out my uploads u will see ive got one of these type of lobsters she was bought for me but ive never known the name of the species i was told it was a lagoon lobster is this right ????

  • nobody luvs me they just want 2 eat me :-(

  • O.O

  • lobsters are canibals

  • wow that's awesome

  • haha moulting , cool word it sounds like moutin or eu geue meue leue

  • That's quite incredible that you saw the pot boiling.

  • I've had my Australian blue lobster for a year now and I've never managed to catch him moulting! Thanks so much for putting this up!

  • Whatever it is, it looks like it's about to attack the enterprize! :s lol

  • prawn?? crayfish?

  • Prawns are very small animals. That was definately a lobster.

  • now correct me if im wrong but is it true your nott supposed to eat them after they have molted?

  • never heard about that... just molted crab is delicious....

    soft shell crab =D

  • they moult many times before you actually eat them. after a lobster moults we call them shedders. meaning they have just shed thier old shell. they tend to have a sweeter meat and are easier to rip open and eat x)

  • vampire

  • mmm, soft shelled lobster

  • My daughter wants a pet lobster, where did you find out how to take care of him?

  • there is 1 left at petco in oklahoma jenks and they will tell u how to take care of it

  • Shes got her lobster already picked out at Meijers and wants to save him before hes eaten. No one here in MI knows how to take care of them. Any tips? Hes a big old dude. Saltwater I assume and eat live goldfish?

  • this is robdawg300 but look it up on google they no everything

  • Not saltwater, freshwater. This crustacean i nthe vid is actually a crayfish, the freshwater dwellers.

  • Lobsters are easy to take care of! Just feed it a nice size piece of chicken, lobsters r scavengers and will eat almost anything, and they live in salt water

  • thats tight to watch them molt i wanted to watch a crab i caught, baby, molt but unfortunatly sheep head got the little turd

  • alien

  • they scare me.

  • Congratulations, your Lobster evolved into another Lobster! Wait. . . what?

But seriously, that's really cool you have a saltwater aquarium. Used to have an eel, but never a lobster. Good for you, man.

  • maybe thats a freshwater lobster?

  • I wasn't aware there was such a thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the closest you get to a freshwater lobster is a cray/crawfish, right? And those little buggers don't grow any bigger than three inches, yeah?

  • in pet shops i often see freshwater lobsters, but yes, not this big.

Um i dont know whether they can grow this big or not

  • You are correct, lobsters are the saltwater variety as a rule. Crayfish, like the one in this vid originate from freshwatered environments and are found in rivers, streams etc. This variety is known as the Red Clawed Crayfish.

  • mine molted before and after she gave birth
