This album really is.., well, I'm not trying to sell it but as soon as your mind gets over the awkwardness of hearing U2 sound quite dramatically different at times - it truly does just wash over you and take you completely in.
It's not commercial but it packs a heavy sometimes even trippy punch.
Unknown Caller is an absolute sublime song, with a glorious Edge solo at the end.
I actually tried not to like album (with Bono's sustained "talk/rap style) but I'm beginning to think "masterpiece"
No Line on the Horizon is U2's best album yet which is astonishing when one considers that the likes of the 'Stones and The Who were effectively retired from writing music for many years by the time they had reached Bono and co's time in life.
Just as comparitive whippersnappers Coldplay and Kings of Leon appear to be panting on the shoulders of these rock giants, U2 just raise the bar again and disappear into their own horizon. Over the hill? Never - Over the hills and far away? Definitely!
Agree they are absolutely fantastic and NLOTH really grows on you...have been listening non stop for the last 10 days or so..Amazing album..I do still think "Achtung Baby" is their best, but this is a close second...so good to have them back!
Breathe & Magnificent are by far the best Rock songs to be played live on their album, whey in the hell do they keep playing boots to promote the album. I totally agree with CAPOSHU!! Great fuckin album!
So many of U2s greatest songs ( and I mean truly great - not the crowd pleasers Desire, Beautiful Day etc) have never been "hits" or even get any airplay.
This song doesn't need to be a "hit" - it's already on it's way to being a classic - and I for one don't want that ruined by it being a "single". Singles recieve way too much airplay on poor commercial radio and start being linked to the dross that surround them. If I was managing U2 I'd never let them release a single
This song truly is magnificent. :) I love it so much. U2 are amazing! I can't wait to go buy my copy of the album later today. :D Seeing U2 live like this must be such an amazing experience. :)
If ever there was a song to start a concert in front of 85, 000 raving u2 fans, this is it! Magnificent truly is, and has struck a chord with me..this is the best of u2. Just total and complete u2....after 30 years, you can just feel it! Can't wait to see my bros again!

I'm totally agree with you, "get on your boots" isn't the song to represent their new album on te pretext of doing a short song for radios ! :s
"Magnificient" ,"Breathe", "Unkown caller" no doubt...

I can't believe Magnificent isn't the first single off the album. It deserves to be a hit!
