  • The video is reversed but the music is STRAIGHT-AHEAD!

  • Who could watch this and not feel happy? Love it X^)

  • 4 String guitar???

  • @Thatvoodoochild777 Yes, it is a so called "Tenor-Guitar". The instrument was most popular during the 20's and 30's. The tuning is in fiths (CGDA), because tenor banjo players could double on tenor guitars to get a louder guitar sound without having to learn the six string guitar.

  • talent

  • I love this. Tiny Grimes was a great talend.

  • This girl swinging here is perhaps the sexiest thing I have ever experienced on the youtubes. SWING IT!

  • No Tiny Grimes was not lefty, the film must have been flipped back to front or smthing. Has anyone noticed he used a tenor guitar (4 strings).?

  • @PONM38 Everything else ok? Looks like a left handed bass player and a very unusual left-handed tenor sax. The only thing in the 'right' place is the hihat. I think we've got a left handed drummer and a reversed print.

  • @hollingum I can't remember what time I wrote this...you are right.

  • wooooow he is leftyyyyy

  • hhahhahaahaha

  • I just love Tiny Grimes!!

  • It looks like Old Tiny was heavily influence by Charlie Christian.

  • @Hoopermazing he also uses his guitar (es 150).. but i think there was no guitarplayer in this time that wasnt influenced by charlie :)

  • @BeatBay I've heard Herb Ellis and Barney Kessel (among others) say the same thing.

  • @Hoopermazing yes. your right! If you dont know, listen to the Charlie Christian Session live at Mintons (you can found it on youtube/ and the worldwide web). Its really awesome. his swing and phrasing is just awesome!

  • @BeatBay About 25 years ago I walked into a Jazz record store & "Charlie Christian Live at Minton's" was playing. I didn't know who it was, & was blown away by the lead guitar... it was like a faster smoother Chuck Berry on the song that was playing... I was shocked when the store owner told me it was Charlie Christian. I'd only heard a few things off Benny Goodman records & Charlie was never allowed to blow on those. I bought the CD as soon as I could, & love turning people on to it.

  • I love it! Thanks

  • So many left handed persons in one movie!

  • did i ask?

  • Is that Screamin' Jay Hawkins on sax?

  • "Is that Screamin' Jay Hawkins on sax?" No, Tiny hadn't met him yet at this point.

  • My guess would be Jack McVay, the original MacVouty

  • Wild guess but John Hardee was playing with Grimes around 1945-46.

  • Anybody know when this video was made!?

    Thanks.

  • "Anybody know when this video was made!?" Right about 1945.

  • Just been listening to the CD "Tiny In Swingville" then found this film. Wow, this guy could play! Duke Robillard doesn't even come close.

  • Rubbish video-cuts off half way

  • WAIT - the whole BAND are leftys - WTF?
