A lot of hate being shown in the comments to this vid. Too many practitioners of traditional martial arts styles hinder themselves to the limits and boundaries of their respective styles. Wing chun, just like any other martial arts style, teaches a variety of techniques for offense and defense, but it would be ignorant to not use something that works in conjunction with what that particular style emphasizes.
There's no Ba Gua, because Ba Gua is it's own art and isn't wing chun. Also, this match involves people using whatever seems to get done what they want done as it does not keep to the strict wing chun principles; however, in a fight, structure tends to deteriorate based on fight or flight response.
In my personal experience, I'm actually finding that doing Muay Thai is helping me apply my Wing Chun better. There is actually similarities;what I like about MT is you're no longer 'stop&Go', it teaches you use one move to launch into the next in a steady flow & your enduance gets trained extremely well.
Since when does cheung style start from a side stance? Side stances are usually easy to sweep. Perhaps the adrenaline of the fight causes people to forget what they learn?
"Cheung Style Sport Kung Fu was founded by Grandmaster Anthony Arnett"
This isn't Cheung's style at all, it's just based on it. Looks like he's adopted the JKD ethic. Side stance, strong side forward, striking with the closest weapon etc..
Should have taken the pendulum steps as well - he seems to leave himself open when closing distance.
i have to diagree with you. karate, kung fu and many other fighting sport like that are quit equall. its the strongest that wins the game not the style
Karate is a pussy sport... how u gonna kick when some1 is right in front of your face... he'll punch u in teh face before u can lift ur leg ( thai-box 4 life )
From watching that guy in black fight I can tell that if he were to use his Wing Chun techniques in real life it would surely be devestating. The fact he is able to adapt himself and his techniques to a tournament which strongly favours Karate is a great feat in itself.
This isn't conventional wing chun, it is the special modified wing chun that's been specially modified for competition fighting. Conventional Wing Chun can not be used fully in something like this, point sparring. I've seen Master Arnett's video on using Wing Chun for point sparring and this video seems to demonstrate its effectiveness, but I believe there is no intention for this video to demonstrate real wing chun. This is just point sparring, it doesn't mean they can't fight in real life.
Uh, that guy in the black isn't doing Wing Chun. I don't know what the fuck he's doing, but it looks more like either Korean or Japanese martial arts. NOTHING he's doing looks like any style of Wing Chun.
unfortunately these are karate tournaments. They don't allow roll punches, spinning back fists, holding, and no kicks below the belt. Basically It's just like going to Disney land. I got a new video up hopefully some of you will check it out, lightning dragon kicks a guy in the ribs mid air its awesome
A roll punch is a triple-strike punching technique that Wing Chun uses. It's the fastest way to deliver multiple hits to your opponent the human body is capable of performing. Basically it requires that you roll your fists like a wheel or conveyer belt one after the other after the other after the other and so on and so forth. Basic roll punching is done like this, and advanced roll punching is done by trapping or pinning your opponent's body to prevent defence against the strike.
Both of them are just doing sport karate. I don't see the wing chun at all. The hands are low, no trapping, no chain punching. Also, both guys were wearing karate outfits with black belts.
this is retarded, it's sporty bitches playing paddycake. take off the gloves and the girly facemasks and let them be able to counterstrike instead of stopping it after each exchange. You should be ashamed if you call this wingchun.

Just a question, since when did Anthony Arnett become a grandmaster. Isn't he supposed to be under William cheung.

He is the grandmaster of sport kung fu, not traditional wing chun
