Hi, I would just like to point out a small detail. When you make miso soup, never bring it to a boil. You can ruin the flavors of the miso. Just bring it to the temperature you want, but refrain from a boil.
This is a pretty simple recipe! I will try it for sure. But I do have some questions: many of the miso soups I've tried before have seaweed. Can I add seaweed to this recipe? Also, what kind of tofu is that? Is it soft tofu or hard? Thanks so much!
@sionigiripo Actually, Miso soup is VERY good for your health. It's been proven to reduce the risk of getting several kinds of cancers and it's good for reducing blood pressure as well! It's really VERY healthy. It won't make you fat.
there are so many Japanese girls who dont know how to cook in japan now. and they also make miso soup without Dashi... its just Dashi but Dashi is sooooo important.
they make tofu noodles... but to be honest, i have never seen anyone put noodles in miso.. you can add other vegetables, though.. common ones would be: seaweed, onion, shitake mushrooms, kabocha, potato, green onion, and i've seen some have carrot in there as well... i've also seen people put anchovies & shrimp in it... but never noodles.. though i'm sure you probably could.
I love these videos. I am Japanese, and I love Korean food. I'm a sucker for BiBiBap. Anway, when I make miso soup I bring my water to a gentle boil, turn off the heat, add hon dashi... usually dry.. and then slowly dissolve miso to flavor. Never never let miso boil!
this was exactly what i did to make my very first miso soup. it tasted... very watery lol. so i added alot of salt, which probably was a bad idea.

If your supermarket doesn't have it try a healthfood store because many healthfood stores sell to folks trying the macrobiotic diet. good luck.
