@Sparkegg The Build Your Own Clone Leeds Fuzz is an exact replica of this circuit. All you do is solder it together. Clear PCB layout, good components, everything you need except a battery, and only $74.99.
anyone know how this pedal fares when used with natural amp overdrive? the reason i ask is because the big muff (i know i know, not the same thing, but still an over-the-top fuzz) only sounds good with a clean tube amp, so i was wondering if this pedal is a little more amp OD friendly
'listening to you... i get the muuusic. gazing at you... i get the heat, heat, heat. following you... i climb the mountaiiin. i get excitement at your feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. YEAH, LISTENIN' TO YOOOUUU!!!............'
I wasn't a believer until the last part of the demo (re:Townsend riff@Woodstock) which was cool since most "Super" recreations are just about the infamous "Live At Leeds" performance. The Who did of course play many, many shows for the 69/70 world tour. This pedal gets that and some Hendrix too!
4:11 and 4:38. Great tones! Im also in love with the Death by Audio Soundwave Breakdown which is a CRAZY fuzz box in the same price range. Man...tough call...this box is alot more stable.
Did Alex Lifeson use one of the Univox or Shin-ei on the first Rush album? ...for example, the ring mod / harmonics sound (when he is doing the string bending) that is really prominent at the end of "Working Man"?
This thing is indeed a beast its amazing. I just got a used one from guitar center in nashville and i think its the prototype, the serial number on it is 0000RC. This really puts all other fuzz pedals to shame.
I have an original Shin Ei 6 tr & I love it, but it's an aquired taste for sure...(guy I got it from thought it was broken)
I've noticed there's suddenly alot of 'clones' around, but how many are any better than what anyone could solder together from a schematic that may or my not even be accurate? These guys have really done their homework & the price is pretty good considering you could pay at least as much for an original, which was mass produced very cheaply about 40 yrs ago.
That thing is a beast! I can't imagine it has all that many components in it for it to have to be that big. It looks like it'll live through anything, very well built. Not to mention it sounds fantastic.
Thanks! It's precisely the same dimensions as a Shin-ei FY-6, and the original Univox Super-Fuzz (in the gray can). That's why it's as big as it is. Sheet metal is twice as thick, though. In case of a nuclear blast, the only things to survive will be cockroaches and SuperFuzz's! ;-)
Do they still make these? Really want one!

wow, that is an awesome sounding pedal. What a gnarly fuzz

Are there any cheap pedals with the same price as this, that deliver the same amount of fuzz from 3:40 to 4:20?

Yeah, I know Jus used an FZ-2 but I'm almost positive the FZ-2 was based off this.

Yeah the FZ-2 is based off the sound, but the circuit has some big differences.
FZ-2 is an awesome pedal for sure.

But there's still a Superfuzz vibe.. I might end up buying the new BYOC "Leeds" Superfuzz clone.

6stringplaya77 3 years ago 3
fuzz= over the top madness (like this pedal) w/a definite '60's-'70's stoner/psych vibe..
distortion= more typical hard rock tone like Boss DS-1 or maybe a Rat...
overdrive= a tube amp turned up..
.
