Not only is the world a better place due to his film performances, but also due to his highly entertaining, articulate & intelligent writings. This documentary does such a excellent job of blending footage of how things in his life look today, clips from his movies & interviews with his co-workers, friends & relatives. Can't thank you enough for sharing this wonderful program with us! :)

He wasn't a great actor, just a familiar face to sell on screen... he behaved, spoke and moved in his films as he did in real life. NOT a great actor, just always being himself.
he may've been secret about his homosexuality (surprising from todays more comfortable conditions) but parodoxically he was brave in the roles he took- i`m thinking particularly of `victim`:most actors of his repute would've given that script a wide berth.
@ytrogergt thats what i was thinking. Im gay and i dont tell evryone , not because im ashamed but some people focus on it too much. Maybe he wanted to be known for his work. Dusty springfield was once asked "why didnt you come out in the 60s? she said " I wanted to be known for my music, not for being a lesbian. This is probably the same case for cliff richard.
I had the chance to meet mister Bogarde in Sanary, France, when he shot "Daddy Nostalgie" just near my house. I was surprised to see him wander in the town after the takes.

I love Dirk Bogarde, but he comes off as pompous, which is sad.

he had a stroke in his sixties, might explain the slight slurring.

As he got older his voice and manner was that of a alcoholic.

Wonderful! Dirk Bogarde's superb talent lives on in his films and writing. Thank you for posting the Arena doc.
It takes time and dedication to do it, but your efforts are very much appreciated!
