  • Its awesome with the smoked meat.

  • It sure is! I went back a couple of weeks ago and it was great!

  • Ohh Ok LOL

  • Noo Not La Belle Patate It Is La Belle Provence In Montreal I Know I Live In Montreal And I Am Eating Montreal SmokedMeat

  • LOL La Belle Patate is the closest thing to real out here on Vancouver Island, but I'll be in Montreal soon :)

  • I feel like I'm missing out on something truly wonderful, I've never had this food before. I doubt anything like this exists in Chicago.

I disagree with James though on Youtube's leniency toward partners, I've seen no examples of what he's talking about regarding copyrighted material.

  • I have found variants of smoked meat in New York City and even Los Angeles... Sliced smoked beef brisket on rye bread is an old tradition brought from Europe by Jewish immigrants who settled in Montreal and New York city. If there are any Kosher or New York style delis in Chicago, that's where you will find smoked meat...

Poutine is another animal. It's a French Canadian meal of fries and cheese curds smothered in gravy. It has spread all over Canada. I imagine it should reach Chicago soon LOL

  • spruce beer...wonder if we can get that in Ontario.

  • Now that's a good question. I don't know. I know it's sometimes hard to find even in Quebec...

  • That sandwich looks so good! I'm not sure about the potatoes. Hugs Andy!

  • The potatoes are beautiful just like it says on the sign! The gravy and partially melted cheese curds are to die for! I'm getting all mouth watery thinking about it again!!!

  • The beautiful potatoes lol! Tabarnak! The spirit of montreal;-)

Salut bonjour!...Hell I'm vegetarian haha! But BON APPÉTIT MES AMIS!

    Cindy is a wise woman;-)

  • LOL I guess my dream of doing Restaurant Lafleur with you won't ever happen now, but I plan on visiting Montreal in summer. Too bad I'm no musician, because if I was I'd love to jam with you...

  • lol! fehquig ;-) Hey some serve's tofu or veggie dogs! Or there's Euro Frite with their fries feried in peanut oils hmmmm! Haven't had any for years but if you come around I'll indulge ha ha!

  • Ahh! I know where Centennial park is, maybe I'll get some poutine. Haven't had any in years.

  • I'll join you if it's on a Tuesday or Wednesday...

  • Man that looks soo good, take me there okay!

  • Call me whenever you're taking a Tuesday or Wednesday night off!

  • Was good to see the other video, very interesting.

  • We could have done something really crazy and edited both videos into one!

  • Smoked meat sandwich, poutine and spruce beer omg so hungry now. I haven't had a good smoked meat sandwich since the last time i was in Montreal. You are so right its not a good one less the meat is falling out. : )

  • I find that I have to have a meal in front of me when I go through these comments and take an occasional bite :)

  • Poutine is the food of the Gods. So few can handle it here...

  • Are you alluding to the un-heavenly attributes of Saskatchewan? Haha...

  • @fehquig It's the devils delight to be had around here ;-)

  • It's only 7 am here right now and I am feeling the need for BBQ'd ribbs all of a sudden. Thank you :)

  • You're welcome anytime! LOL

  • just watched James version ! I had a swiss version of poutine this week... it was terrible . I have to check if I have some footage of it... I'd kill for a smoke meat Montreal style !!!

  • Uh-oh... I wish I had time to catch up on vids today...

  • How did they manage to make a bad version of poutine? I was under the impression that the Swiss were good at cooking...

  • MAn that looks great...never tasted it.

  • It tastes even better than it looks :)

  • Please don't die just yet... We're planning lunch with some tourists from France :)

  • ok so I had to resort to google: poutine = cheesy chips with gravy - now you're talking!

Spruce beer - I got as far as "non-alcoholic beverage" and lost interest...

I reckon Cindy missed out on the goodies though!

  • Yeah, well... That restaurant doesn't have a liquor license so they can't sell beer and you can't make like you're in Montreal and buy a cold beer at the corner store and bring it to the restaurant that doesn't have a liquor license and enjoy it there...

Cindy got her chicken souvlaki, easy on the onions with tzaziki sauce as promised... Later that night she had garlic breath :)

  • The smoked meat made me realize I REALLY need to get out more!!

  • @angryislander56 I do agree with Cindy about Poutine though.

But smoked meat Cindy! Come on!!!

  • Cindy's weird... You don't like poutine??!!!??!? TILT

  • @fehquig

I didn't say I didn't like poutine, I like it fine just try to make better food choices some times.

  • If you're still running the restaurant, you can always put it on your menu... Come on and join the revolution!

  • oK.. now I'm hungry.. :)

  • Me too, and I just ate LOL

  • that smoked meat sandwich looked so good. the poutine fries are usually cut thick like that? great vid. I need to get my butt over to the west coast sometime soon!

  • Why not go to Montreal and be really authentic?

  • @fehquig I just want a taste, not the whole meal. There's more on the west coast to interest me than the east (of what I'm aware of).

  • That was an awesome meal and fitting for my last night in town. Of course watching this video now I wish I had one again. :P

  • Same here, James... How's the dining in Seattle? I remember an amazing Alaska King crab meal not far from the needle, but it's been eighteen years :)

  • Food is good. Ate Mexican last night. Haven't had any crab yet, but still got a couple of days. Video from Seattle coming soon. :)

  • The best smoked meat in Montreal was at Schwartz.

  • The thing that turns me off about Schwartz's is having to wait in line, and the dining atmosphere reminds me of an assembly line... One guy who used to work at Schwartz's opened up Abie's about a block North of Chenoy's on Boulevard St-Jean. His brisket tastes identical to Schwartz's, and the ambience is great! I still like Chenoy's a lot because it's 24-hours just like Ben's used to be before the Kravitzes let it get all run down and had to close it forever...

    Montreal in August!!!

  • men and their meat.......

    and apparently LOTS of it...

  • Sometimes a guy's just got to treat himself... How's Seattle?

  • Sometimes a guy just has to treat himself... How's Seattle?

  • @LisaJMoore

I agree Lisa I think that is one of the reasons why women live longer.

  • That looks like one hell of a meal to me!

  • It was just right, but could have used some coleslaw :)

  • ow ya,im gonna check that place out.-dangers of watching fehquiq gaining weight.haha, damn i want that now..yer killin me with food vids.

  • I discovered that place about a day after it opened. I had to try it as soon as I could, so I took Cindy out for dinner... I loved it, but her reaction was not so good... She didn't like the food at Restaurant Lafleur locations in Montreal either :(

  • This made me hungry. Really! lol ;)

  • I'm hungry again remembering exactly how it tasted... Fortunately, that little Montreal-style fast-food restaurant is doing well and looks like it will be there for a good long time :)

  • I tried poutine a while back and I didn't like it. :-o Maybe I just tried it at a bad place.

I am sure I'd like that smoked meat sandwich. YUM! Cindy has good taste!! Mmm I love me some souvlaki!

  • I don't believe you got a good poutine... Cindy doesn't like smoked meat or poutine!

How can you say she has good taste? LOL

  • @fehquig Harrumph! lol

  • Had to Google that Poutine...sounds yummy ! Yall had a good lunch ! :-)

I always enjoy watching your videos.

  • We had an excellent dinner... Poutine will eventually conquer the world!!!

  • Hey, must be fun to hang out with James!!! La Belle Potate? This must be a Canadian thing!! See, I'm posting a video about the copywritten music thing tonight! James is probably talking about one of my videos though!! Oh James!!!

  • James is good people... The Beautiful Potato kinda loses something in the translation. It's more of a Quebec or Montreal regional thing than a Canadian thing.

For some reason, copyright is one of his pet topics... James often segues in that direction, but I'm the one who has had no less than 45 videos silenced by WMG :)

  • Andy I've never had Poutine but want to try it one of these days. Those smoked meat sandwiches looked delicious also! -Jim

  • Meet me in Montreal on the first week of August this year and dinner or lunch is on me...

  • beautiful food.

  • Yep! We're talking cholesterol and fat :)

  • Looks really tasty!!!

  • It was very much worth the trip...

  • shit im hungry now!

  • Sorry, my friend!

  • A little potato salad with that smoked meat sandwich would be heaven on a plate. Delicious.

  • It could also use some coleslaw :)
