In regards to your comments to firedude911about tension and smoothness in your bowing arm and about fiddling being 60% bow + 40% bow: I have now been playing with 100% concentration on bowing and keeping my left-hand in my hip-pocket. My bowing has definitely gotten smoother (although my tunes are slightly more monotonous!!!) :)) Thanks for the fine postings! Red
Now that is some major league fiddling partner! I think you are about ready to hit the stage, Seriously that was some mighty fine work. Great back up and rythym too.
Thanks, I appreciate the encouragement. That really is a fun piece. I heard a guy on mandolin play Dusty Miller at my last bluegrass jam, and I promised I would be able to play it at our next jam. Man he could rock that on mandolin.
man whats the key to workin your bow so smoothly ??? all your videos have that nice "flow" to them...smooth bowing, good timing.....I still have the tension and I cant conquer it
I still have the same tension in my bow arm also. I think it's starting to get a little smoother, but man it takes a lot of practice. Playing fiddle is 60% bow and the other 40% is bow. Thanks for the comment.
Great playing Gary!
