  • you would think the spring would be pre-cut wow

  • @TigerG2 That would have been nice! Should have been cut, tested and then offered on the market. That would have been reflected in the price though. Maybe better I do it. LOL!

  • @dilutedskew i really wonder what goes through their heads honestly.

  • @TigerG2 Who knows!

  • Just a quick question.... I thought Mossberg sold these shotguns with a 8rnd Capacity and 9rnds Ghost loaded? If so then why add the Nordic extension?

  • @marctipp Well, thats true, but now I get eight in the mag, one in the chamber and then a ghost load with a total of ten rounds. One extra round! Thats only with slugs and other rounds besides Buckshot, which are longer! Using all Buckshot with the original configuration you would only be able to fit six in the mag, one in the chamber and then a ghost load. Total of eight. Mossberg is a little misleading as far as that is concerned. TheZombiekiller2020 and I went through this already. See below!

  • Thanks...I did evaluate the shell length and some manufactures shells are literally a few mm different in length, so when i put 8 of these side by side it winds up being almost 3/4" difference in overall length. Thanks for all the info!

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 After I wrote you I figured I better do the same and check it out. Well, S*#^! No way 8 "00" Buck are gonna fit. I can see what your saying when you get 8 lined up. it's rediculous how much longer it is. The 2-3/4" length is of a shell before being loaded and crimped. I'm just gonna have to cut the spring down a little more and hope it doesn't affect function. We'll see. I'll definitely have to annotate this. Thanks Man!

  • @dilutedskew No biggie man I'm just glad that we can help each other with our experiences! I've already buggered up 2 magazine springs, the one that came with the shotgun and the one that came with the Nordic +3 extension. I've had to order another one, this time I'm not going to cut it to fit 8. I believe the problem is the factory magazine not being big enough. I wrote Mossberg an e-mail and gotten no response!! Good luck I'll keep you posted.

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 Thanks! Sounds Good! I'd be interested to hear what Nordic has to say about it! How did you mess up the springs? Having to cut them too short?

  • @dilutedskew Yeah I kept cutting the spring and now the last shell in the magazine doesn't have enough force to clear the magazine and make it all the way onto the elevator. Perhaps my previous comment wasn't clear, I e-mail Mossberg not Nordic about the problem because I feel the factory magazine from mossbers isnt long enough. And yes, Mossberg has yet to respond to my e-mail!

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 Before I purchased the Nordic +3 I wrote them to ask specifically if the extension would result in one additional round. They wrote me back and stated the Mossberg is actually a +2 extension and mounting their extension would give me an extra round. So I wrote back and clarified with them that I would be able to fit eight rounds in the mag and they wrote yes.

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 The statement about the +2 I now realize had to do with certain rounds, like we've been talking about, being longer than others. I didn't at the time ask him specifically what he meant. I should have thats for sure. This will probably be the answer you get back from Mossberg.

  • I notice that the 8 shells you were able to fit in the magazine are low brass shells. How many OO buck can you fit in there? The reason I am asking is i have the same shotgun and I can fill the shot gun out of the box with only 6 not 7 OO buck all of which are 2 3/4" There is a slight difference between various manufactures overall shell lenght. Also you said that you had to cut down to 8 1/2", is that because it took that much being cut off to get all 8 shells in it? What about OO buck?

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 How many 00buck manufacturers have you tried? Have you laid out low brass and the buck next to each other to see how much difference their is in length? Or measured them? Stock, with seven rounds in the mag, I still had some play in the spring. Have you made sure your spring is seated in your follower correctly? I don't know what to tell you about that. The difference in shell length between manufacturers should be minimal.

  • @TheZombiekiller2020 It did take cutting off that much of the spring to fit the eight rounds. The impression from reading the directions was that it was not unusual to cut off that much. One size fits all spring. Function checking, not just loading, after cutting is also another key to making sure everything works correctly. I could fit eight before my final cut but it would not load when cycling. I'm going to have to annotate that as a matter of fact. Good Luck!
