My Turbo K-car

i have the exact same car mine is the dodge aries turbo .. and its a beast.. had it 4 years.. and there is about 4 more cars in a salvage junk yard brand new.. im trying to work out all the legal issues to get all 4 of them.. the owner says there is no way i will get them cause they surrendered the titles for scrap .. is there any way around ths.. i might just get a lawyer to help me get those cars off the scrap yard and rebuild all of them.. there the best cars

All I can say is, WHY? Wasting time and money dropping a turbo engine in the cheapest, ugliest car of 25 years ago. Not to mention the "upgraded" engine was pretty crappy too. I could understand if they found a really mint two door body, or a covertable LeBarron, Or even one of those cool mini ElCamino looking things Chrysler had briefly. Even that would still be a stretch, But a beat-up 4 door Aries k?

ugly but I bet it hauls. my grandpa had bought a 1985 daytona turbo. It ran well at 7lbs but he chipped it and got 12 I think it was cos the gauge ended at 14 I think and it was about 2lbs short of pegging it. It ran pretty hard... from my experience on the track I bet it would have gotten into the 14s once chipped. it would waste tpi camaros.

@30301500 as of 2007 chrysler made more of those turbo engines (2.5 turbo and 2.2 turbo, same block) then every other turbo car from every other manufactuar put together and those engines stoped being produced somewhere around 1993!!!

Oh man.. I had the non-turbo version of this POS as my first car back in 1995. That's the only car I ever owned that I don't miss on any level. That thing was slow as molasses and had so many stupid problems. Eventually some woman in a Hyundai ran a red light and T-boned me in the drivers side door at 60 MPH... end of K-car. I guess I should be thankful that the car stood up enough to get me out without any serious injuries.

The K car was junk. My grandfather had one he purchased brand new. The paint started fading after 3 months. And had nothing but problems from the transmission.

Your assumption about the turbo is incorrect; it has a Garrett T3 turbo with the .48 A/R turbine housing and a 2.5" swingvalve (rebuilt by Turbos Unleashed). This is the same turbo Chrysler installed in all the 2.2L Turbo II cars which were intercooled.

I rebuilt this engine myself and it is a mix of parts from different years in order to produce the best combination of stock parts.

I had a 91 Lebaron with the 2.5l hi-Tq turbo. Another of the mopar turbos that had 215lbs insted of the normal 2.5t's 180lbs.

It has a 1988 Dodge Daytona turbo SMEC computer and the harness is also from the same car. All the wiring changes are made at the bulkhead connector going into the passenger compartment.

Well its supposed to have a catalytic converter and a couple resonators to go with the stock muffler in the rear.

But I custom built the exhaust, and it is 3" diameter from the turbo all the way to the dump pipe midway under the car. There is only one muffler on the car, a straight through 3" Dynomax Ultra Flow.

My old Daytona smoked more than one 5.0 Mustang. the bad thing is, Chrysler had just about gotten all the bugs worked out of the fwd design when they started building the v-8 rwd's again. I think there was a factory built four cylinder crate engine you could buy that made 400hp. All in all, the K's were great cars that got a bad reputation due to a few unavoidable lemons.

you don't need to, you just go down to your local auto wrecker and find a turbo daytona or spirit then buy an easy to find performance ECU for it (make sure you grab an A555 transaxle from an 89 or later daytona) and tune from there

K-Cars are the greatest little shitty beater cars EVER MADE.

I had three of them, and the lowest odometer reading at time of "death" was 193,000 miles. Not bad for cars that had been neutral-dropped repeatedly and had the little 2.2 L 4-bangers redlined almost constantly.

It has a lot of mixed and matched parts from different year turbo engines. Started with a TII block, and most of the engine is TII, except it has a cast crank. Other than that it has fuel mods (255lph pump, +20% injectors, Accufab AFPR, etc.) and the turbo is the Garrett T3 with a 2.5" swingvalve. It also has a custom 3" dump exhaust underneath the car with one Ultraflow muffler. I could go on and on with all the little details.
