  • too short!!

  • @GunnyZoSo "too short!!"

I know, it was just an experiment...

  • I have a huge amount of respect for the Japanese as an enemy. No respect for the Nazis however.

  • I had to cry at this movie, really got to me when one of the injured troops called out Mama! then died.

  • Walmart has the movie for $5.

  • this movie was really graphic.

  • I wish somebody would post the full movie on youtube.

  • @Thejin2027 i wish you would buy the movie and give the actors and directors the money they desrve

  • @altoids79762 I cant find it anywhere. God knows how many places I looked around.

  • @Thejin2027 pawn shop?LOL

or if circuit city was still here you coulda found it :(

  • oh shit whoops sorry for the comment i put there lol :P USMC=Japanese War Army Rangers= Germany Normady and yeah whoops!

  • Just imagine how fuckin scary that would be if you were an american soldier. One wrong move can get you killed. it was basically the lucky ones that didn't get hit with a bomb or bullet

  • took 5 days to capture that mountain.

  • battlefield 1943 stylee

  • i just rented this movie

can someone tell how much blood/gore/shooting there is?

is it like saving pvt. ryan?

    the more the better

  • not as gory as saving private ryan

  • sorry but it isnt better than saving private ryan but itsa great movie

  • war is just hell...

  • @SadCarnage1224 sad your gay u ass hole

  • @fagknife1 i know ur gay now have SEX with ur dad BABYYYY!!!!

  • yea :)

  • the idea was to hold the island as long as possible, because every day they held the island was a day the US could not bomb their homeland, bomb their friends and families. 99 percent of them fought to the death, starving and dehydrated.

  • The Japanese bunkers and pillboxes were so heavily armoured that durring the major atilery barrage by the Navy, defenses grew instead of being destroyed... Thats kinda scary thinking of it now ... the only things the marines could use to clear pilboxes were flame throwers!

  • sucked to be a jap back then huh? USMC oorah!

  • @Tcreature358 haha stupid i like how their not USMC their the army

  • @itzalexplox Umm... no. The Army was fighting in Europe, and the Marine Corps was fighting in the Pacific. This is how we were effectivley able to fight on two fronts. The Army was nowhere near Mount Suribachi

  • @Tcreature358 oh yeah whoops

  • @Tcreature358

The 23rd Infantry Division was deployed in the pacific, in the liberation of the Phillipines, New Guinea, and occupational forces in Japan. There were many U.S. Army divisions deployed in the Pacific, but most was left to the marines. There were no marines in Europe though, as you said. But, you are right in saying that there was no U.S. Army soldiers in Iwo Jima :)

  • @Tcreature358 The army also fought in the pacific as well.

  • back then ur right but now just one helicopter can take 100 of these bunkers and those tank nowa days would be still movin. but yea back then wuz tough ass shit 1 grenade wouldnt kill em and if 1 tank comes another one comes equals more deaths and lives.

  • Iwo Jima was pounded into submission with three days worth artillery which would have destroyed any sort of fortifications. Kuribayashi realized the stand at the beach tactic of warfare would only bring about more casualties so he had his men build the tunnels and pillboxes that made Iwo Jima such a hard battle. He waited until troops were fully deployed then fired on them. The ones that were deployed had the essentials such as food and ammunition due to the lack of enemy combatants

  • i like Flags of Our Fathers but is better letters from iwo jima because is very interesting how they made a tunnels canals and the other things they made...........

  • The iwo jima seems like pelilu island level from call of duty 5

  • They were pretty similar.

  • thats what it seems like

  • Both Marine operations in the pacific. They all kind of blended but Iwo Jima was specific because Kuribayashi made a different kind of stand.

  • really how?

  • kuribayashi, was really a verry smart.

  • john bradly grew up in my city

  • best war novel i've ever read.

  • i was watching this yesterday and i missed the ending... what ever happened to ira?

  • Ira never recovered from his wartime experience. He became an alcoholic and died on his Pima reservation, presumably from exposure.

  • he died at the end heat exaustion

  • ahh i thought so

  • yuppers poor him

  • Clint Eastwood you legend!

  • whats the name of that song

    i've heard it somewhere

  • It's from "Happy Feet";)

    Great score by John Powell.

  • just out of cureosity does any one know the names of the six men nwho raised the flag respond and i will tell u the answer!!

  • yea

but just remember that that was a replacement flag

from left to fight fron row: Ira Hayes, Franklin Sousley, John Bradley, Harlon Block

left to right back row: Mike Strank, Rene Gagnon

  • correct

  • Mike Strank, Harlon Block, Ira Hayes, Rene Gagnon, Franklin Sousley and John Bradley. Really great book.

  • What do you expect them to do.. whipe the mountain off the island?

  • why would they attack a mountain? cuz the big guns are there, and that way they have the view of the island to wipe out the rest.

  • why would they attack a mountain? cuz the big guns are there, and that way they have the view of the island to wipe out the rest.

  • crazyshakazulu, your dumb. watch this movie

  • all i can say crazyshakazulu is to go watch this film or go read a book on this battle. maybe then you'll understand and then you'll quit bitching and honor those brave men who died in the Marine Corps' most costly battle!

  • Do you KNOW how absolutely STUPID that would be? You would get RAPED by the heavy artillery and Japanese defenses. Think of D-Day. Did the Allies attack the whole damned European coast? NO.

  • for what? for the so called ''honorable'' japs?

  • you guys are acting like fucking idiots. it is the japanese's code of honor. what your saying is hella racist. it was like there religion. i wouldnt call you an fuckhead for being a catholic or jew because its your choice of a lifestyle. show respect

  • for japs its honor, for normal people its barbarianism

  • this movie has frikin amazing war scenes but i wish they didnt cut it with those future parts of the young soldiers lives. then jump back to the war. its understandable but kind of ruining the story

  • i like all the shots where you see through the eys of the pilots in those Corsaiers

  • I like that one as well. Very Scary shot, especially when you see those bullet ripping through the canopy.

Maybe I will put that scene up as well.

  • that would be awesome if you did, they're so damn cool...man i gotta have to buy this movie as well as letters from iwo jima

  • einundzwanzigpanzer. if you buy this movie, make sure you purchase the two-disc SE one. the regular version has no special features or scene selections for that matter.

oh and i too love those scenes where you get the pilots' view.

i think mr. eastwood had a great idea to film it the way he did

    letters too!

  • I've got it at a christmas eve, you know, the two disc thing, both letter from Iwo Jimaand Flags of Our Fathers are included + two special featrues discs, both movies are awesome, and the special featrues are quite interesting too...

  • that scene in the moovie should have been longer much...

  • yeah you're right
