in your opinion, what open back banjo should i buy to play with other people at an outside jame session? i'd prefer something with good tone but a loud enough sound to be heard.
@clawhammer25 Well, if you're looking for volume as well as a tone that will carry through, my first choice would be a Tu-Ba-Phone. They are loud enough that Vega's 1960s Earl Scruggs model used this tone ring for a bluegrass setting. Despite their brightness and volume, they are plunky enough to have been longtime favorites of the clawhammer crowd.
That was fantastic, Donald. You sure can play. Thanks. How about a request? Will you make a vid playing Loch Lomond or Scotland the Brave? I'm trying to learn those right now. I'd really appreciate seeing that.
@shal0mnurh0me I see what you're talking about! It looks nice and comfy! My goldtone has a narrow neck, I love the sound and the action is impecable but I like the neck a little more wide.-----Nicely done, Zepp! Clifftop this year, Zepp? ANybody?
@gretchenman We plan to be at Clifftop--won't be there until Thursday, probably, but we certainly intend to be there! Look forward to seeing you again!
Lovely tune!

@d2majzoub I'd love to oblige you, but I'm so far behind in getting things recorded I can't make any promises, I fear.

Sounds great. Looks like the neck is a bit wider then your standard 5-string? Maybe not...

@shal0mnurh0me I'll try to remember to either measure it next time I'm in the store, or to ask Marc to measure it for us...

@zeppmusic Thanks, it'd be interesting to find out.

@shal0mnurh0me It's 1-11/32 at the nut--not all that wide, really, though it does look that way!

@zeppmusic Oh, hmm the video must make it look a little wider to me or something then. Thanks alot for checking.
