Lovely song, great groove, beautiful orchestration--does ANYONE out there have the Lingala lyrics with a translation? I can pick up the Spanish and Portuguese words, but I wonder if the song is about asking one's mother for help? Or is the "Sancta Maria" greeting a symbolic reference to "Mother Africa"? Does anyone out there know where I can find the lyrics? Muchas gracias, merci beaucoup, mucha obrigada, danke sehr!
believe. Typically, Ricardo has his African languages, colonial Belgian French. Cuban colonial Spanish (mixed w African languages/culture) from neighbor Angola's war aid, & colonial Portuguese from Angola. PLUS African Moors ruled Spain 4 900 years. Spain faces Africa 2day. Can u believe that in the US, so few r multilingual & so many r ignorant of history/geography AND tink that their limited thinking should limits 4 every1 else?
we all grow up multilingual in Africa so picking up another is actually not that hard. I speak Sapanish too I am from Africa. And Congo has French as its language in addition to several native ones
This isn't a live performance, it's a lip-sync. The audio track is identical to the album performance. And notice how you never see the horn or flute players? Makina Loca put on scorching live performances, but this isn't one of them.
Just glad its on here.. hard to find any way you slice it. My partner and I danced for his band at the opening of the Pan African Film festival one year. He was kind and gracious with us.
couldn't they have at least included some damn timbales instead of a drum set?
