This, with Thieves Like Us, is the best (and only?) double b-sided record ever released. As mentioned elsewhere, the synth progression is punch in the stomach beautiful, marred only by the largest gob you've ever heard, towards the end of the song (4:00).
@OldEchoes1 If only it were so! I guess we'll each hear what we want to. I hear a large drawing in of breath followed a second or so later by an explosion of spit, sampled and replayed at a lower pitch and therefore played over a longer time, so that the source of the sound effect isn't immediately apparent. But also, I do like the fact that they've subverted the beautiful ending.
@OldEchoes1 Hmmm. I'm thinking of a valentine's card, probably sent in jest by mates who should know better or possibly from someone who could turn out to have been the love of your life. You suspect, yet will never know, which it is. Cruel or just sociopathically cryptic?
For over 15 years now, the opening bass line of this song pops into my head every now and then. It's stuck in my head for life. Thank God it's a great song!
When it was, who cares, but important as it was so different, your mum who liked John Denver, sorry an in thing, would adore this. Played a handful of times live apparently, to me the Best.
I was in my late 20's when all this wonderful 80's music came out. I listened to a lot of progressive rock when i was growing up and of course I was into all that music. Then the 80's came along and the music just captured my imagination. I fell in love with bands like The Cure, Simple Minds, New Order, U2, The Smiths etc. Incredible music, incredible bands an incredible time as far as I'm concerned. Thank-you for this post. It brings back a lot of great memories.
One of NO's most under-rated tunes. The keyboard progression after the last lyrics still gives me chills. For most of their career, no one did it better than these guys (they kinda lost me after Republic).....just brilliant synth-pop that sounded HUMAN and not just a bunch of sterile pushing of keys and buttons on synths. And yes, it does remind me so much of being a teenager and in love with my first girlfriend (along with OMD, The Cure, Depeche Mode, etc). Good times!
I don't wanna sound arsey, but this was never on PC+L, leastways not the 1983 version. I first heard this on the 1987 Substance double. Magnificent tune though, much appreciate the post.
Thank you very much Shelley! I post these videos for the love of the music and for the fans. It has been a while since I posted a new video. Peace and Light to you as well!

@jaytotale It was a B-side to one of the singles from PLC
rc2869 2 years ago
@liamevans Yes you are right it was a B-side to one of the PLC tunes - Ceremony maybe.
It was publsihed on Cermeony. However this was 29 years ago so maybe released differently elsewhere to UK
