Kate Bush is a rocker at heart, and Hayley is a classical/pop artist, and perhaps quite a bit of a sweetheart; thus perhaps accounting for the differences in style and performance. They're just different. I enjoy both for the sake of variety.

As a musician, I respect those that attempt things that are not their own. People don't seem to remember that a cover is someone elses interpretation. It doesn't have to be exactly like Kate's. This version is entirely Hayley's. She's putting herself into the song, and it's a hard one at that. I love both versions, and I really appreciate Hayley for doing this, and instead of sticking to the original she put her own spin on it, musically and vocally.

Hayley's got great diction, and her voice has a good weight to it. It's almost so technically perfect that it lacks the vulnerability that Kate's version has. It's a tough song to sing - for me it would be impossible. So I give kudos to both ladies - Kate for writing it and singing it originally, and Hayley for paying homage to Kate.

Nice mix! I think Hayley has a fine voice. In this song, though, she just doesn't have the range (or doesn't use it) and misses the nuances. It's not just that Kate did the original. It's that she perfectly captures the character of Catherine, better than anyone including any of the films. She IS Catherine. You just know it. Listen to the difference in this part: "I'm coming back love, cruel Heathcliff;

My one dream, my only master!". Really, no contest. Still, a fine mix.

I have loved Kate since the kick inside... many years ago. I listened to her even before I was even in High school. I graduated in 1980. Heyley, is in the unique position to become the voice of a generation much like kate was. I treated this video as a "bit of a laugh". I don't think it's exactly fair to compare the original version sung by a mature Kate and the version from Haley which was recorded when she was just 17 years old. I think this video is the best that could happen to this song (just the end might simply be cut). The clearer and stronger voice of Hayley mixed with Kates's far better performance leads to a wonderful video.
