I've been riding bikes all of my life just like everyone else and I am pretty decent at bmx style stuff but I am completely new to trials. I would like to buy a 24" inspired but are there any downsides to having my first bike be a 24"? I will probably only buy one trials bike(at least for a long time) because of the price so I want to make sure I get the right one and that I don't wish I did something different. Someone please help! Thank you! : ) awesome riding by the way!!
@Kingpin3o7 It depends what sort of riding you want to do. If you want to branch into 'proper' trials- lots of static moves, hopping etc. then it may be worth looking into a more pure trials bike (which are available with 20, 24 or 26 inch wheels). If however you want to mix up some more streety/BMXey riding with some trials moves (like Danny Mac type riding) then an Inspired is by far the best way to go. let me know if you want more info.
@davemarshall82 Thank you for replying! : ) I want to do trials based stuff(real wheel hopping from object to object, etc) but I also will want to hit jumps and drops and things like that. Similar to what you do in your video! And if a 24" bike is right for me would you recommend saving for an inspired element of fourplay or should I go with an onza zoot since it's cheaper? Thank you again for helping me!
Hey, im just starting the whole trials biking thing and i'm thinking about getting an Inpired brand bike but can't decide which one Do you have any reccomendations?
@moonnoom9314x3 Sorry about that previous response, tried to do it from my phone but failed miserably! As I was saying, the best answer I can give is to get the best one you can afford. The guys at Inspired have done really well at speccing the bikes, ensuring the important components are catered for at every price point. Whichever one you decide on you won't be disappointed!
well really for starting a 24" bike is not really recomendable because it wighs more ect yo cuold start with any trial bike that is lighter and esear to start but if you want to start for shure with a inspired go for it , if i were you i dont know ehh is just my opinion but the element has a mechanic brake back that is not vero good so the inspired fourplay has double hope that are the best in the market so if you want an inspired and you have money go for it!
and how does the fourplay compare to a stock trials bike? what are some of the main differences besides the wheel sizes and frame geo, how does it ride?
@gearhead9122 The Fourplay is a strange beast. Theory says that it should be awkward to do 'proper' trials on but mine is the most natural feeling bike I've owned- it just feels right. Overall a 24" is kind of between stocks and mods but at the same time, they tend to be set up with more traditional streety riding in mind and so do ride differently. It's hard to describe- you'll just have to have a go on one!!
@davemarshall82 Nice, you tear it up pretty hard on that thing, I'm pretty new to trials, i started with a mod and only recently started riding stock.
@gearhead9122 street trials really came into its own because of danny macaskill. he combined proper trials with a lot of bmx freeriding. the fourplay reflects that in the sense of the low frame geo and 24" wheels to give a more bmx-y feel and allows the rider to do more bmx-y tricks. just youtube some danny mac videos and you'll get what i mean.
@gearhead9122 Yeah, I started on a stock, then went mod, then went stock again, then went mod again and got my first 24" and now I've only got the 24"!!
@goldjordan12 You'll be able to do a lot of it but due to the geometry, brakes, gearing and front suspension you'll struggle to do some of the more techie trials moves. Having said that with a few tweaks there's no reason you couldn't rip it up on the Revell.
@goldjordan12 You'd really need to change the gearing if you want to do stuff like pedal ups. If your cranks will allow, chuck a 22T ring on and see how you get on.
@dudgeon11 It depends what sort of riding you want to do really. 24"'s are more aimed at a mix between trials and more streety/bmxey type riding (check out Danny Mac for an example). If you're more interested in 'proper' trials I'd say a 20" is easier because they're a bit smaller and lighter.
Great skills mate! which inspired bike is that? is it the pro or the team? I am interested in getting one. My biggest worry is getting the wrong one. Could you do those jumps on a stock inspired fourplay pro?? Thanks.
@THEDROPPEDSOCK Cheers bud :). That bike is a first generation Inspired Fourplay rather than either of the completes. However I've just got myself a Team and absolutely love it! I reckon everything in there is doable on a stock Pro. If you can stretch to a Team they really are lush but the Pro is still a really nice bike. Love the Mint Green too!
@davemarshall82 I think i'll go the team dave, thanks for the advice. Out of interest, i'm 6 foot two do you think the stock team would be suitable as i'm buying it in and can't test ride it. Thanks again.
@THEDROPPEDSOCK I'm sure it'll be fine- I'm pretty much 6' bang on so not too much shorter and find the bike really comfortable. I love my Team- the single upgrade that I've ordered is a pair of Hope grip doctors to finish off the bars- apart from that the spec is absolutely perfect :). All the best, Dave.
i was thinking of getting a trials bike and was wondering if you could ride it as a normal bike also just for transportation (the only spots to ride are far from my house and i have no way of getting there but biking) is the gearing too low to get any speed and is the seat actually usable
@boredashellll It depends what sort of bike you get. When I started out I had a GT Backwoods which I'd happily ride a 14 mile round trip on to mess around in the nearest town. They're far from the most practical bike to be honest and the seat is only really ok to sit and roll on, I cacn't really pedal while sitting down on the Inspired but it's no worse than any modern BMX. The gearing is reasonable and of course on a 24" or 26" you could always run a few gears to allow you to get places!
@bammass I started off using a custom tophat washer and a longer than standard M6 bolt in the hub (An Echo fixed 07 hub) but later made a proper 10mm steel axle to take the peg. It stood up really well to reasonable abuse but in the end I took the peg off because I didn't use it enough.
I'm guessing you mean the little squeaks you can hear occasionally? That's actually the brakes. In the vid I'm running a ground rim which makes the brakes a bit on the loud side! Smooth rims ftw!
yeah u can kinda see a inspired frame as a big, long bmx haha, some people even ride them with packs, i got a inspired 3th spec and i only use it for trials ofcourse:P but u can also do some flatland tricks on it like dannymacaskill does in his vids
Hi, yes it's an Inspired. I haven't ridden either the Echo or Adamant so can't really comment but they look pretty good. It'd have to be an Inspired for me though!
thats cool stuff dude. think i'v ridden with ya in southampton a few years ago at trian station. only us 2 could bk wheel a cirtain wall, i was runnin shitty v brakes! good to c ya makin somethin of it.Keep it up.
