  • "Invincible Agencies" Wow! So all of us that practice the scientific method is due to an angel?

  • @luciano9009 Foolish hostile Lliteralist you are. NO. The scientifc method "measure and number" was supplied to Descartes in a dream. YES even scientists dream. Is that OK with you? Do you dream?

  • @kimbo99 Science is an ever progressive method that we apply which we may understand through logical and rational means, what business do invisible agencies have in factual matters. Dreams are only a natural process which we all undergo during sleep; Descartes was met with sensation, creative thought, and a sense of inspiration during this process. Such entities (invisible agencies) you speak thereof, are yet to be proven...the subconscious of his human mind made it happen, not angels.

  • @luciano9009 Do think a little harder sir, or does it give you mental pain. Science is not an easy score as greasy "Delusion."

  • @luciano9009 YOU are taking the word Angel Literally. Its only a character in a dream. ."the subconscious of his human mind made it happen, not angels." But you dont even know what the subsconscious is.

  • @luciano9009

    "Dreams are ONLY a natural process"? Oh dear.

  • WOw

  • The laws of the Cartesian method are four:

    1 Accept nothing as true which is not clear and distinct;

    2 Analyze a problem into its parts and discuss it part by part;

    3 Arrange thoughts from simple to complex as the order of study;

    4 Enumerations must be full and complete and nothing must be omitted

    This is the method adopted in mathematics; Descartes transferred it to philosophy with the intention of constructing metaphysics on a new basis

  • Renee Descartes "developed the Cartesian method which consists of mathematical deductions generalized, and emphasizes self-observation. He maintains that sound judgments must be made from a mathematical basis. Mathematics proceeds from axioms, principles. These principles form the starting point for deduction and from them other propositions follow logically, hence the method of deduction." Thus, Descartes is accepted as one of the key figures of the scientific revolution...

  • Of course we can't trace all of our thoughts back to the specific neurons that fired and in what order, and so at some level they just appear. But if a person thinks an idea came from an angel or invisible world, that doesn't mean it actually did. Isn't this obvious?

  • @GreatUnwashedMass You were doing so well until this bit "But if a person thinks an idea came from an angel or invisible world, that doesn't mean it actually did. Isn't this obvious?" The whole Cartesian Construct assumes you know what YOU are. Descartes didnt . Neither do you.And Its not obvious, its just a possibility. It could be something else masquerading as an angel in a dream.And it may have nothing to do with neurons firing. Your mention of metaphysics is fascinating. Do tell.

  • @kimbo99 So what do you think of the Guardian Angel experience reported by 50% of people- a voice that warns of impending danger, or even a messaging dream to that effect saving a persons life. These events have profound impacts on people. They ponder them for decades. So what would you/ Descartes say about that?

  • lol...I can only lol at this video...or I'll just cry.

  • Once again, Terence nails it...!

  • @TMKchld

    I know always dead on, an actual Genius.

  • @Riotgirl93 I agree...I don't use that word freely, but it's a Perfect description for Terence...!!!

  • I don't have time or patience to go over this, but unfortuantely, I can't put this as a response video as there's too much information in here based on speculation. (i.e. science was founded by rene decartes, not true in the least)

    Most of this cannot be verified, so if you want to believe it, enjoy yourself.

  • The quote is supplied with reference and terence mckenna was a reader of Descartres. I thought you might know the book reference. And enjoy speculating.

    We musnt get too serious about this.Peer Reviewed scientists do credit Decartes as being very influential in limiting science to physical measurement only.

  • @kimbo99

    Would there by any chance be a book you could refer me to that goes more "in-depth" with this?

  • @MrZetterlund777 Listen carefully toi the video Terrance gives the name and author of the book on Rene Descartes Stop, go back and step the video carefully.Pen and paper Then Go anazon etc Its confirmed by Oxford peer reviewed scientists Dr Rupet Sheldrake and .Dr Peter Fenwick. Their video coming to you

  • yes, excellent and refreshing, I agree.

  • excellent video steve

    favourited.
