@pearberryspritz I've been going around Fanfiction net telling ppl about this film. Lots of ppl there r into fantasy but they've never heard of this film. So if u want a DVD release, tell as many ppl as u can, so there'd b a higher demand for it.
I just luv this movie, tho I wish someone would put more compilations together like this. maybe add Animato and Time Tripper to these two. Those one r great, i especially like Animato.
@crazysoccerman14 How sad that some people always make the drug reference whenever they encounter anything remotely out of their tiny, tiny little spectrum of reality.
@dazzlerby Pretty damn big. I'm so glad I had my parents for parents. They took me to art museums, and the theatre, and movies, and they encouraged creativity. I was able to look at talent and be impressed... not recoil from it in terror and accuse the talented of being drug abusers.
I'm willing to bet he didn't need any. If he did take some, he took just enough. It would be nice for everyone else to take enough to get to his level.
Mike is ALIVE AND WELL and I HOPE upon HOPE that we MAY get him to screen his SHORT at "W00tStock", the brain child of Wil Wheaton, Adam Savage, and Music Duo, Paul & Storm...THAT would be a cool deal...what do YOU think? Tweet about it to Wil, Adam, and Paul & Storm...This guy was a GEEK/NERD before Geek Nerd's were COOL!
I was working at a rent to own store in 1989 and I got a promo package in the mail and took it home. I played it until my VCR ate the tape. Thanks a ton for posting this. How about a special edition DVD and toss some money to Jittlov?? This is a tasty morsel from the good ol' VHS days... Fantastic stop motion in this movie. Thanks to you Mike for hours of joy in the late 80s.
Thank you soooo much for uploading this. 3 times now people uploaded only half and have been such a tease. A low-budget stop motion movie about making a low-budget stop motion movie....Genius!
I love this film, of course, with a hero like Mike Jittlov, it's a wonder I'm 32 and have yet to make a feature (although I do have a screenplay contract for a work for hire that's not my idea).
Oh god how I love this movie... Inspired me to make all sorts of silly stop-motion films when I was a kid. It's probably just nostalgia talking, but effects like these always seemed to look better in their own way, and be put to so much better use than the stuff they cook up in computers nowadays.
I heard that he offered to do the SFX for the "The Flash" TV series of the early 1990s. Too bad they didn't take him up on that offer. The effects would've been MUCH better (they were little more than extended motion blurs as it turned out) and cost WAY less (each episode cost $1 million to make — in 1990 dollars! — a MAJOR factor in its cancellation).
Sounds about par for the course. I have a copy of this film on VHS and I picked that up for about $3 brand new several years ago, so I'm guessing he must've gotten the severely short end of the deal. Pity, it's a fun film and he deserved the accolades he got for it
The system cheated him, that's what happened. His producer stole the film from him and sold it to a now defunct distributer. He can't get the rights to the film back without heavy litigation.
There is no doubt that this movie wouldn't be as epic as it is without Jittlov. Screw the money hungry bastards that stole it from him. It is sad really. Poor guy.
My husband met him at a science fiction convention years ago. Jittlov's comment when my husband told him that MJ's work had inspired him to work in movies? "I'm sorry...."
Sad indeed, to see such a creative spirit crushed by greed and selfishness. Mike, wherever you are, a lot of us do love you and would happily support your work.
Mike you inspire me to be happy. Where ever you are, thank you.

5:03 -The astronauts in the space shuttle are stop-motion animator Jim Danforth and his wife! I think Danforth did some animation in this one.

Last thing I seen from Jittlove was some work he did for Ghost. The shadowy hell creatures in the end were his.
