Not deliberate. Firstly he beats his opponent to the ball. Then he (possibly) keeps it in play. As a player he has to assume it's still in. He changes angle to get round his opponent and accelerate onto the ball he saved. He is expecting the Ref's Assistant to take a half step back. He can't wait to see if she does or not; play is too fast. She doesn't, he is committed to the attack = bounced. No apology as it's a honest sporting incident where no one came out the better for it.
