this video helped me alot! I've been trying to decide whether or not to cut mine and donate it all day.. It's down to my elbows right now and im getting donating it = ) (im getting a long bob... Shoulder length) Im so nervous!! Everyone always compliments me on my pretty long blonde hair but this is a really good thing to do and it will be ALOT easier to style every day.... haha = ) did you regret cutting it all off??
@rachelrowland15 congrats! seriously donating is such a WONDERFUL thing to do, no matter what organization you donate your hair to. i chose Pantene Beautiful Lengths and i'm definitely happy with my decision. initially you will be quite shocked that all of your long hair is gone, but since i have donated it (over 2 years ago!!) i couldn't be happier. yes, i miss my long braids but i can still do plenty with my hair and i think it is MUCH easier to manage now :) good luck!
@Blastoise53097 a few shorter bobs. i ended up not going quite as short as the hairstyles on the page. my hair is currently a bit past my shoulders and i think it suites my face shape much better at this length
@Blastoise53097 it has been growing but i've maintained it at this length. i do want to grow it out and donate again, but it's a slow process for sure!
@Contessa831 it was definitely a difficult decision, but i just decided that the long hair wasn't doing much for me anymore and would be more useful as a part of a wig for a woman who needed it!
@brinker806 thank you! i did go a couple inches shorter, but nothing too crazy. just some layers to give it body and shape. my stylist also thinned out my hair so it wasn't too poofy.
Seemed like a lot of himming and hawing over a silly couple of inches. Why wouldn't you take the opportunity to go above the shoulders and really donate a nice tail, and at the same time have fun short hair for only a few more months before it's grown back out again anyways? You look much more darling with the shorter hair too!
I had long hair for about 5 years so it was a big deal for me to lose 10 inches. I appreciate the compliment but for me, my hair is a significant part of my identity as females. This is the reason why I donated in the 1st place; to help other women gain back part of themselves that they were forced to lose due to horrible illnesses. I am interested in going a bit shorter but, I do love having long hair. Thanks for your input though, it gives me a bit more confidence to go shorter next time!!!
Sure! I understand as well. I have helped out LOL in the past, and I get tired of these guys with long hair fetishes who have slammed LOL on youtube cause they don't want their S.O. to cut their hair so they tell lies & ½-truths about the hair donation industry. Yes, they don't usually use the hair unless it's as healthy as yours and closer to 14", hopefully 16" or more, and even better is naturally light blonde. You see young girls usually have/had :~( long hair, (& lighter cause younger).
the minimum donations are sold as extension hair to make $ for paying the wig makers and sometimes a small gift to the top stylists who fly to FL from all over the US to donate their time in styling the wigs. 10-12 10" donation ponies, if used as a wig would make a cute wedge or short pixie cut wig... 10-12 12-14" donation ponies make a darling chin-length bob wig. But for a little girl who has lost her waist-length blonde tresses. It takes 10-12 30-36" donation ponies. Lot's of sacrifice!
That's my reason for saying. Thank You & to ALL who have donated, just please next time consider that going up to the top of the neck for maximum "harvest", still having a swingy bob that will only be a few more months to grow out, (I don't see whats the deal with the pointless shave sessions, kids don't care if you look bald too, they want hair!) and does quite a lot more for those whose hair will not grow out in a few months more. Bless you!
Wow. How can ANYBODY'S hair look so shiny and smooth? I just want to touch it. How do you do that? Anyway, your hair probably looks good now. And the video looks GREAT in high quality.
Would have been cooler if you did this in a bikini!
