  • @BohemianNightmare California requires them to be NSA certified which Berkey says is too expensive.

There is a NSA standard for flow through or gravity filters Berkey just chooses not to participate.

  • @bonzaibb12

The NSF is probably what you are referencing, and the NSF is a private company that does certifications. CA does not require NSF certifications, it requires a "independent ANSI-approved third party testing organization". It does not mention directly NSF certification. While New Millennium chooses not to participate, if the regulations are over reaching in their scope, you should commend New Millennium for no participating.

  • @directive21 How is the NSF overreaching and how is it helpful if an entire state is unable to use there filters ? Sorry it appears that they are hiding and I have personally experienced several issues with there filters and I know they would have never passed NSF inspections. My issues were wide spread and recognized by Berkey.

  • @bonzaibb12 NSF requires proprietary information to be shared, which New Millennium chooses not to share. It is not NMCs fault if California writes laws that are over reaching, California has written many laws that have driven business out of their state. CA is known to drive businesses away. Also, any problems with the black berkey elements have been fixed, and we have not had problems with the new elements.

  • We bought a big berkey and a travel berkey that came with a sport bottle from u guys

  • @ZackMcKool Thanks so much, I really appreciate it.

  • can you get or use the fluoride filter with this unit?

  • @twitchtwitchreel Because the system is so small, it cannot be used with the Go Berkey Kit.

  • @twitchtwitchreel The Fluoride Filters currently cannot attach to the short stem of the black berkey elements that come with the Go Berkey Kit.

  • WHAT IS IT??? It wasn't until 3:30 that I finally saw "Water Purification" written on the box. At first I thought this was a type of stove, for pete's sake.

  • That sport bottle can't seriously be worth $29....Come on!

  • I am wondering how many gallions of water will the filter do, before it has to be replaced? Thanks, Tim

  • @tim4962

    Tim,

It can be filled around 12,000 times, or filter a little over 100 gallons of water before the filter needs to be changed.

  • @directive21 Thank you for getting back to me. :)

  • why only 100 gallons yet the other black berkey filters last 3000 gallons per filter? was try to pick between this and the travel berkey @directive21

  • @tim4962 Because it holds 1 Black Berkey Element, it can purify 3000 gallons.

  • can it filter my yellow water as well?

  • I have a lot of yellow water to filter..can it filter that?

  • Are the black berkey filters for this the same as the black berkey filters for the larger berkeys? Or do you need different ones? I notice you say the snout is smaller in the video. If they are smaller do you sell the replacements? Do you ship to the UK also. Cheers.

  • @kainekainekaine

They are the same filters but with a shorter stem. We do ship to UK, please email or call us.

  • @StemCellWarrior We recommend the Go Berkey Kit shown in this video. If you need water for more than just 1 person, you may want to look at the Big Berkey on our web site.

    The Berkey Guy

  • Glad to know about this. I have had a Berkey Light for four years and it is the best couple of hundred dollars I've ever spent.

  • When you put a $29.00 value on a $1.00 sport bottle and you think that 1 quart is closer to a half a gallon, I have to wonder what the actual value of the water filter is and if you really know what you are talking about.

  • @tcbink You have the correct retail value, but the bottles are not a 1 dollar sport bottle. They do in fact come with a filter, which is why they retail for 29 dollars. We sell them for 24.99 each on our web site.

In relation to the 1 quart statements, we have put on the video a correction which states the correct measurements. At the time of the video, the Go Berkey Kit had just come out, and out of all the information given on the video, that was the only thing that was misstated.

  • can I add the fluoride filter to this? Or is it too small to accomodate?

  • @lukekelly79 Great question, but because the Go Berkey Kit is so small, the PF2 fluoride filters cannot be used with the system.

  • @directive21 i purchased this kit with water bottle, & the kitchen counter top berkey w/fluoride filters (x2), & the chlorine shower filter for bath. i use this one when traveling, but haven't tried camping(lakes/streams). I suspect it will work great... no fluoride in streams? Also...i misplaced the blue bottle for 2 months & left some standing water in it, & recently found it. opened it up &it smells bad. Anyway to clean bottle or am i SOL on the blue bottle setup? Thanks for Good Product!

  • @ez2curanut Glad to hear everything is working correctly! In relation to the bottle, i would thoroughly wash it with soap and water, and also put some chlorine in the bottle and squeeze the bottle to push the chlorine into the filter. Also, do a food coloring test, to make sure it is removing food coloring. Jeff

  • Why is this better than a camping filter (katadyn, etc)? No information nor demonstration here.

  • @jn7000 Great question, usually other filter systems require pumping in order to produce water, which can force water through the filter at a very fast rate, which can lower the quality of the filtration. The Go Berkey Kit uses only gravity to filter the water and the water travels through the filters at a slower pace, which in turn helps it to purify the water.

Also, camping filters filter about 2000 gallons, while the black berkey element in the Go Berkey Kit can filter about 3000 gallons.

  • @4:10 back in the day... 4 quarts made a gallon...

  • @ez2curanut

Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention, i will post on the video the correct info: Size is about 1 quart (.95 liters) or 1/4 gallon.

    theberkeyguy

  • Nice looking filter kit :)

  • Thanks so much for the nice comment.

  • Just did a test, it holds about 3 to 3 1/2 cups in the top chamber.

It is a tight fit with the black berkey element, but it makes water very quickly, and tastes great!

    theberkeyguy

  • Nice idea. How much water can you fit in the top at a time? That filter takes up a lot of room. Just curious...
