its not even really eric's fault. it was an overall miscommunication between Eric and Tommy and Gene. Only person who didn't mess up was Paul. Tommy played the outro chords so Eric followed with the outro and so did Gene. But like the real musicians they are, they didn't just stop, they fixed it and finished it out. so haters, gtfo.

This is the perfect example of the KISS philosophy: show first, music and musicianship second. Christ, KISS have been playing this song for nearly forty years and they still can't get it right? Even the "scabs", Tommy and Eric, have been copying Ace and Peter for long enough that they shoud be able to pull this simple song off error-free. Certainly, in my opinion, Eric Carr was the best drummer because he had his own style. Singer just seems generic. Technically good but with little style.

Eric singer has been with KISS for 21 years. (1989-present) Just because he didn't get to the band first, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be where he is.

He was just there and was given Aces make up. I don't think there would be as big a rage about it if Eric and Tommy had been given their own makeup. Eric was only given the catman makeup the first time in the farewell tour because of the advertising contract that included the appearance of the catman.

@silvius49 Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons own the rights to the makeup...it's their band. They can put the makeup on anyone they want. Paul describes a Kiss show like broadway. You go and see the Phantom of the Opera and its not always the same person playing the Phantom. He may be wearing the same costume and singing the same songs, but it's a different person. Kiss is the same way.

Makes me wonder if Eric may be on his way out the door. According to A&E he showed up 5 minutes right before the beginning of a concert that he booked, and kept pestering Gene to sing Beth after Gene kept telling him no.
what you saw on A&E was all scripted, like gene simmon's family jewels is... they haven't orginized the australian/ new zelan tour in a week, adding shows from one day to another one like it's shown, dates were sheduled long before, and eric singer wasn't late, he was always there! etc etc etc... they made like a "mini reality scripted show" out of that tour

It's nice to know the big leaguers mess up too. I remember seeing Duran Duran onstage. Simon would trip over stuff, Nick would fire off sequences prematurely, and the Human League even suffered an electrical power surge during their show.

I will take 10,000,000 of these "mistake" videos before I EVER listen to some Canned pre-recorded lip-synced garbage that is passes off as a "live" performance.
That was a pretty major brain fart by Eric, but actually Paul made it worse by stopping the singing in the middle of the verse. Gene did the right thing by not stopping and hoping Eric would catch on and get back in the groove before it got too bad. But Paul went the other way, and tries to follow Eric's f-up and just end the song... but just as he stops singing, Eric starts the drum beat back up. Tough to plan or rehearse for those kinds of situations, but they recovered OK.

No, I don't think so. If you listen to the guitars from 2:16 to 2:21, you will see that there was a break in the (entire) song, the difference is that it was being played live, but I'm pretty sure that that was supposed to be played like that.
Eric stopped playing. Tommy kept playing but he's got a very small part in the verses on the guitar. Gene kept playing all the time but you can't hear the bass very well due to the sound limitations on youtube. Paul stopped playing and singing.
I was there and I talked to Eric about it the day after. He was mad with himself for the mistake.
im just glad that they're still around. im 19 but i've been a fan since i was 7. i saw the farewell tour on tv when i was 9 and thought i would never get the chance to see them but i finally did in november in oakland. may not be the original members but the show still blew me away :D

@attila6661: First of all, it's Eric CarR - two R's. Second of all, Obviously Eric Singer is a good enough drummer to be playing in KISS. Think about it.
And Lastly, Peter Criss was only with KISS for 6 years before he left (1974-1980) Sure he came back a few times, but only for reunion concerts and what not. Eric singer has been with KISS for 21 years. (1989-present) Just because he didn't get to the band first, doesn't mean he doesn't deserve to be where he is.

Actually Eric Carr passed away in 92. Eric Singer replaced him with Peter coming back in the mid 90's and leaving again after the reunion tour

@attila6661 I'm sorry I have to disagree with you aswell. Eric Singer is a great drummer. I don't like Tommy much because he never really earned his stripes in KISS. He was just there and was given Aces make up. I don't think there would be as big a rage about it if Eric and Tommy had been given their own makeup. Eric was only given the catman makeup the first time in the farewell tour because of the advertising contract that included the appearance of the catman.

@silvius49 Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons own the rights to the makeup...it's their band. They can put the makeup on anyone they want. Paul describes a Kiss show like broadway. You go and see the Phantom of the Opera and its not always the same person playing the Phantom. He may be wearing the same costume and singing the same songs, but it's a different person. Kiss is the same way.

Makes me wonder if Eric may be on his way out the door. According to A&E he showed up 5 minutes right before the beginning of a concert that he booked, and kept pestering Gene to sing Beth after Gene kept telling him no.

what you saw on A&E was all scripted, like gene simmon's family jewels is... they haven't orginized the australian/ new zelan tour in a week, adding shows from one day to another one like it's shown, dates were sheduled long before, and eric singer wasn't late, he was always there! etc etc etc... they made like a "mini reality scripted show" out of that tour

@ubn00b YOU don't understand drumming, you play what you need to make the song good. if you're in KISS that's a simple beat usually, if you're in Rush, well then you have a little more to do, if you're YOU- you sit there fascinated by the hi-hat pedal "look at the cymbals they hit together splashy splashy! i like to do the drums!" there are plenty of drummers who have chops for days, but only play what a song NEEDS. heard of steve gadd? he's a monster, but sometimes he just plays simple.

It's nice to know the big leaguers mess up too. I remember seeing Duran Duran onstage. Simon would trip over stuff, Nick would fire off sequences prematurely, and the Human League even suffered an electrical power surge during their show.

That was a pretty major brain fart by Eric, but actually Paul made it worse by stopping the singing in the middle of the verse. Gene did the right thing by not stopping and hoping Eric would catch on and get back in the groove before it got too bad. But Paul went the other way, and tries to follow Eric's f-up and just end the song... but just as he stops singing, Eric starts the drum beat back up. Tough to plan or rehearse for those kinds of situations, but they recovered OK.

No, I don't think so. If you listen to the guitars from 2:16 to 2:21, you will see that there was a break in the (entire) song, the difference is that it was being played live, but I'm pretty sure that that was supposed to be played like that.

Eric stopped playing. Tommy kept playing but he's got a very small part in the verses on the guitar. Gene kept playing all the time but you can't hear the bass very well due to the sound limitations on youtube. Paul stopped playing and singing.
I was there and I talked to Eric about it the day after. He was mad with himself for the mistake.

im just glad that they're still around. im 19 but i've been a fan since i was 7. i saw the farewell tour on tv when i was 9 and thought i would never get the chance to see them but i finally did in november in oakland. may not be the original members but the show still blew me away :D
