  • RIP Hiroshima and Nagasaki victims

  • music?

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS

  • 何回も泣いてしまった(´;ω;`)

  • @ptricianeal It's cool.

  • wait a minute, why did Japan side with the nazis anyway

  • @walrusguyjr

    だからと言って為政者を選べない側を苦しめていいというのは屁理屈だよ、僕ちゃん。

  • @ritatti I translated your comment and i didn't get it.

  • @walrusguyjr

    you mean japanese GOVERNMENT

  • @ptricianeal Actually, it was an empire back then.

  • @walrusguyjr

    ha. so you know.

  • @ptricianeal EMPEROR Hirohito! Duh!

  • @walrusguyjr

haha, yes sir/ma'am. i guess i got it all wrong when i saw your first comment. apologies.

  • @ptricianeal Look, quit fooling around. The greater japanese empire started in 1868 and ended in 1947 with the constitution that made it a government since then.

  • @walrusguyjr therefore my apologies? well I thought you meant that because "japan [sided] with the nazis" those people deserved to be bombed. But I guess I was wrong since you seem to know more about japan than I do. i was being genuine when I said sorry.

  • I laughed, I cried.

Seriously. It's impressive how this movie is sad, funny, cute, tragic and hopeful all at the same time. :)

  • "Wheat is growing! Big brothers hair is growing! and... (looks down pants) nope! see nothing there!"

That was the first time I have laugh in the middle of a sob session.

  • @Agentseaturtle That cheered me up too...lol

  • ...@entei2000 Yes.

  • never aigen thet was wos then the kill of the jews!!!!!!!!!!

    not let it hapend aigen

  • @naziempire1 That was worse than your massacre of the English language!

  • @naziempire1 me thinks u suck at english!

  • Some people say that if all nations joined together as one big nation there would be world peace. Well I believe that nations should stay the way they are. Mainly, because they would have to get up their on type of government. Which I think each nation can have any type of government they want as long as the people have freedom. If nations just shared their natural resources with each other and except each other beliefs then the world would be a peaceful place.

  • @Bluestarwarrior1 if a world order could prevent incidents like this from ever happening again... it would be worth it :'( japan had its own type of military government, as did nationalist china and FDR's america and hitler's germany... self sovereignty of nations is bullshit... if it leads to war and pain and hate and racism and genocide... the thing is, we're all just people, not nations, not americans, not japanese, not chinese, not mexicans. we're just people! we're just human beings

  • @Bluestarwarrior1 Maybe but look up new world order in wikipedia. I don't think is good, might be too much.

  • Muito bom esse anime ;)

  • ...so many of those wheat fields and rice paddies are now buried beneath salted

grit and debris from the recent tsunami... It shall be hard to make them arable again.

Google Earth shows the harsh reality- Even once again, the nuclear gene reveals its'

terrible powers when the lamp is struck... Fukushima. Why do nations fight each other

when nature herself offers more than enough challenge to we, the family of Man?

  • @SittingMooseShaman We pray for them shall we?

  • 3:25 LMAO

  • Saddest. Movie. Ever.

  • so touching T_T this series makes me cry.

  • We defend peace in the earth.

  • no one deserves an atomic bomb. no one.

  • @hanewolf NEVER AGAIN IN ANYWHERE!!!!!!!!!

  • @aaa8459 Translated: Grave of the Fireflies, but war is nothing but sorrow produces only a strong message, like Barefoot Gen is the importance of helping each other to survive, it is also sad that no stronger. On a tray but each time decided Grave of the Fireflies, I think here you repeatedly broadcast over here rather more positive

  • @aaa8459 pls take ur languag somewhere else ploz

  • I cried.Aug.

  • quien pueda soportar semejante dolor no puede ser humano, es demasiado para un solo corazon perder tanto de la noche a la mañana TT^TT

I think every time I ever feel like my life is terrible, I'm going to watch this movie.

  • Will someone please give me the lyrics or title of Barefoot Gen's ending theme? All I know is that the artist who performed is is called HAPPY, which is not much to go on...

  • Will someone please give me the lyrics or title of Barefoot Gen's ending theme credits? All I know is that the artist who performed is is called HAPPY, which is not much to go on...

  • That was really beautiful, thank you so much for sharing with us..It was so realistic and touching, I hope everyone is taught a lesson after watching it. Whatever problems we may have with others war is not a solution. Peace to all. And love.. LOVE IS ALL WE NEED :):)

  • Wow.

Excellent film, big thank you for uploading it!

  • Sure the animation isn't as good, but I like this movie a lot better than Grave of the Fireflies.

  • WTF THEY BURNT TEH BABY?

  • @NinjaFreak626 it's a form of creamation they use, they don't always just bury their dead like in the US

  • Thank you nadalele for uploading this film :D

  • かなしいけどすばらしい映画でした。有難うございました。 no war !!!

  • war is hell enough said :(

  • Thanks Nadalele for posting such great movie with perfect quality !

  • Well... This is what you get for attacking the poor soldiers in Pearl Harbor without declaring war, and killing POW's, and invading china, and attacking Russia, and invading the pacific islands, and waging war against the allies, and supporting the Nazis, and attacking Australia, and killing american soldiers, and killing russian soldiers, and killing chinese soldiers, and murdering the innocent.

LOOKS LIKE KARMA WAS ON THE ALLIES SIDE! HURRAY FOR FREEDOM! :D

  • @porterbehling the corrupt government of japan was responsible. the people didn't want anything to do with it. so your saying "thats what they get." but did they really have a say? basically. love your family with all you've got.

  • @Zero1216 Yes that is what im saying. Yes they did have a say, They were able to reject there governments belives, and if you say they didnt then your ignorant. " Love your family with all you've got."... I dont know where your getting that from, your government is not your family. If you follow your government blindly, and will kill blindly for your government, then yes. they deserved it. The Japenese were the ones who started a war that killed millions. they deserved it.

  • @porterbehling I'll take the title of "ignorant" than. the harsh reality isn't as easy as in america to revolt. if you rebel'd against the japanese government at the time. you were lucky to just be shot. otherwise it was torture or they'd kill you and your family. i'm defending the innocent people who had no idea why bombs were falling and why they had to take shelter everytime the sirens went off. also i was directing the love for your family towards you.

  • @porterbehling A war is always started by someone. But, it is in the rooms of the capital, not out on the streets. The US has started and participated in its fair share of wars. If Britain had had the weapon, the colonist didn't deserve a nuke. No side deserved a nuke in Civil War, or Vietnam(when there was a draft), or any other war. In Iraq, the civilians and honest soldiers don't deserve this. Making light of war is sick . No country deserves this horror. Very few people deserve death.

  • @moviegrl185 I know plenty of countries that deserve this horror. Theres many people in the world that deserve death. In the end they deserved it, and thats all there is too it. Don't get me wrong I don't think that nukes should be used at all, but nuking this city is shown from facts to have saved lifes. Imagine the lifes that would of been lost if the Allies had to of stormed the beaches of Japan! We would of won, but it would of taken millions of lifes for both sides. It was the smart choice

  • @porterbehling Some people may deserve death, but not thousands in one city.It was the lesser of two evils, but they didn't DESERVE it. No country's civilians deserve to be roasted like meat on a spit. So they had a sense of pride in their country, most citizens do. It isn't the gov. I'm defending, it's the innocent people that became collateral damage. Some of those civilians wanted the end too, like Gen's dad. No ENTIRE city/country deserves this devastation, no matter their leaders' choices.

  • every child should watch this video in their school life at least once. This way more relevant to our daily lives and the world we live in than all that Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet nonsense

  • Really good movie, I even cried a bit :P

Hope no more nukes Will be used for this or any other purpose in the future though, it would probably not be less damage at least...

  • the biggest reason for the use of nukes is not just physical damage but also Sociological damage

Its reasons are really to stop long term wars

just imagine you a soldier walking throw the ruble you see all the littered bodies and some people still a live but look so deformed they mite as well be corpses

  • A student in my ancient history class jokingly suggested we drop a nuke on the middle east to solve the problems

So the teacher set aside a whole lesson about Hiroshima and showed this video.

Even though it had nothing to do with Ancient History, I still look back on it as the one lesson that stands out in my mind as the one that taught me the most.

  • @Treemeadow , its not all trouble we have here in the middle east, but our problems fill the news time, we are still living and breathing though, and our sky is still blue, dont bomb us plz:P

  • @nadalele Don't worry. *pats back* We won't.

  • @nadalele

    Never. :)

  • @nadalele, we most likely won't ever be dropping any nukes soon...

  • @Treemeadow Damn that would be for me too...

  • @Treemeadow Your teacher should be fired for doing that, regardless of any situation

  • @GOllumboy101

and you should be fired from your day-job, cause you're skillz at troll are fail-level.

  • @Treemeadow Lol I'm not trolling... I'm being serious. A teacher should never go that far to change someones opinion. Keep it to yourself. Send him/her to the office is one thing, but to stop teaching and force the class to watch a movie? That's fucking sick, that teacher deserved to be fired.

  • @GOllumboy101

It was teaching, and he requested permission from the head of department to do so. I am now a trained educator myself, and if they drilled anything into us at college, it was to remember that not all learning happens when you stick hard and fast to the curriculum or lesson plan. Teacher's are told time and again to be flexible and move with the needs of their students.

Our teacher saw a need, asked someone and did something. He should be commended. Not fired.

  • @GOllumboy101 If that person's opinion is destructive and morally wrong, then yes, they should.

  • @UTAU53Yui Morally wrong? If you're an American, don't fool yourself sir or ma'am. After 9/11, every American had destructive hostility towards the middle east. Don't try to be innocent here. I'm not saying I want to nuke Afghanistan... but hell, it may come to that.

  • @GOllumboy101 "Don't try to be innocent?" I'm an American and I hold no hostility whatsoever for. You're generalizing.

And it's one thing to change someone's opinion. He was showing the destruction and anguish a weapon like that could create. "We should drop a nuke on 'em" is an opinion, but a dangerous one if the consequences are not considered. He WAS educating. Educating about the horrors of war. And damn if he be fired for that.

My god, I really hope you're a troll...

  • @Treemeadow i bet that guy afterwards felt like an asshole

  • @topangastar1 sir its just a joke.... ahehe

  • next thing u now it people will be droping tsar bombs on each other then we will be fuck

  • if theres gonna be a world war 4

    PHILIPPINES HAS developed

a super powered mechanical monster CALLED

    mobile suit GUNDAM ahaha

  • Better than the motion picture.

    The manga is better still.

  • @ronito6 Oh, this wasn't the movie? Lol, oops. Either way, whoever compared this to Grave of the Fireflies is dumb.

  • usa man usa did the shit fucking sad

  • @iraqifalsteeny4ever

Yes... but Japan, Germany, Russia and Britain all had bomb programs.

If Japan developed it first, what would they, militarist dominated Japan, had done with it?

  • @ronito6

    Frightening yes?

  • and where still crying over 9/11

    all bad but.........still..

  • too sad.... truman is a disgrace... cant beleibe i admired him... even he in da KKK

  • The mediocrity of the human being can be seen on this movie. It is represented by the ones that sent the bomb: the humanity was not ready for such an invent as the atomic bomb which was developed, firstly, by the highest genius, Einstein. Maybe it was not the correct moment for Einstein. Maybe it was not the correct moment for war. It was an unfair war, as the one in Afghanistan, as the one in Vietnam. As when Panama was bombed. But there is hope: the wheat grew and the children NOTED it!

  • No sabía de la existencia de este material, realmente muy bueno y aleccionador, ojalá nunca mas tengamos que enfrentarnos a una guerra de estas proporciones que al final el grán perdedor es la humanidad misma.

  • Thanks posting. It was ...awsome.

  • Well, it was a good anime. Anti-war, and very subjective but thats how it was good. Still, you cant judge the war only by this :)

  • not many people in America are proud about it either but what happened, happened no changing the past. its very sad to me and mostly a lot of people everywhere who's hearts are pretty broken as well, hopefully this shall never happen again.

  • que horror :O

  • Never again. Never again.

  • What a horrifying movie, really choked me up a number of times. This is an interesting, effective medium to tell the story through - they were probably able to tell a lot more in this anime than they would have been able to do as a live action film at the time. The end credits sequence is beautiful, like a tribute to the dead...Very powerful stuff.

  • It may sound harsh, but it was either the estimated 500k - 1,000,000 of US troops casualties for Invasion, or 150k~ Civilian Casualties. That's just how it is...

  • and im in america, people. it sucks to know what we did in the past. im not too happy. i dont like what our ancestors did at all, i LIKE the japanese. their nice people. love anime and thier funny movies too, and good food. and im only 16 duuude D: if it affects a lazy 16 year old, it can affect you .w.

  • wow..i felt REALLY bad when the cute older sister eiko, the strong wise father and the annoying yet comic relief brother were trapped under the fire ): Eiko was too cute and i liked her already then to see she dies so quick i was all " D: .. nooooo ;o; " and then to see the baby girl die, i repeated my " noooo ;o; " again cause it was sad. a child that young, and a female, to go that fast? seriously. that sucks ass.

  • "and a female"

oh, so girls can't die, can they?

  • @PRETYPRINCESSPATCHES

um...they CAN, but it sucks when they do unless they were a bitch.

  • i cried in this. i dont cry in movies, nd thisone i did

  • T.T

  • T.T

  • @THESUPERCAT64 what?

  • Murders...

  • i cry tonight :(

  • I hope everyone how sees this thinks the same: Let us promise to eachother nether to let this happen again!

  • @Luca144 it wont our bombs are much more developed now, everybody at ground zero will die :)

  • still :'(. It doesn't make me feel better that i would directly die afterwards...... . I want to die (anyway ;) ) peacefully, through an illnese or even through an accident. But not sinless in wartimes

  • @StreeterTV That's comforting, glad to know you'll be able to sleep at night knowing that the next time we go to war, the civilians killed at ground zero will be instantly blown to charcoal bits. Unbelievable, some people.

  • @EmmileneRosalina it is very comforting, but come on we all know that there never will be a nuclear war

  • it was nessesary. nothing was going to stop them short of divine intervention or an "ultimate weapon". 2 precisely sized nukes versus the ground invasion and blitzkreig by the americans and cancer causing chemical warfare that would have ensued, were far less. people are just reacting to it how it was meant then, to scare them shitless to destroy their will to fight, even ordered from their god emperor. It pains me it had to come to this, but it did have to, please, for the last time.

  • @Luca144 Crazy thing is, it'll most likely happen again.

I think God or Amaterasu or whoever was trolling the universe by creating mankind.

    Lulz ensued.

  • @Luca144 It still will though I bet....

  • @Luca144 I agree, but it was both Japan AND America that killed innocent people.

  • what's the name of the song of the ending? plis someone tell me

  • @lolitamoriflores15

Where do it come and where do it go?

    Song. HARRY

  • there should be a world vote to put all the bad politicians in a cage to be crushed alive then put in a black box to just die slowly. They seriously just cause the world soo much suffering and pain all because of there greed and stupid decisions.

  • If we did that then we'd have no politicians left.

  • There are good politicians... I'm saying get rid of all the bad ones that make stupid idiotic decisions.

  • I was looking for it more than 20 years!!!! I saw it in early childhood, in the cinema, one time and newer could forget. It is a great movie!!! Great impact to humanity and peace in the world!!!!

I hope that peoplewho make it could read this messages!!! They have changed many human souls to the peace!!! Thank to them!!!!

  • I 've been loking for this movie for so long finally I found it. When i was about I've been to summer camp in Ukraine. And we had a movie session, and they were showing this anime. I remember seeing 8-9 year old kids leaving the movie after 15 minutes in tears. It was such a big impact on me as if someone carved it in my brain. I remember asking why would they show us this.Gosh i am so grateful. I wish this movie will awaken the sense of humanity in the hearts of those who are yet in darkness.

  • TOMOKO-CHAN!!!!!NOOOOOO!!!

  • Thank you for posting even though I think my heart died a bit with this...

It's just too horrible to understand.

  • well i would cry (even though i was about to) if my 7th grade reading teacher hadnt gave me a "facing addictions" book wich had a 2 baby deaths a guy getting stabbed in one lung in front of the addicted mother's 5 year old son.

  • Comment removed

  • the comic is way better

if you think this is sad read the comic series.

    you will cry all day.

  • You do realise that Gen is the author of the manga/anime and this is what actually happend to him? I can't belive you found this funny, you must be some kind of monster.

  • Yeah I know that. So what? I'm not laughing at the real man and the real situation, I'm laughing at this crappy anime version's portrayal of it. And thank you for the compliment. =] Yes, yes I am a monster.

  • This is based on what happened to him. This isn't EXACTLY what happened to him.

  • Yeah but his family still died all the same.

  • I am torrenting Barefoot Gen 2 so if anyone wants me to upload it (on another account) just ask.

  • yes please, such a sad but powerful movie

  • Sure ok, I will make another account and message you when its done.

  • arigato my friend

  • I have downloaded it and watched it myself. just splitting it into parts now. Account will be "Barefootgen2"

  • Comment removed

  • I have uploaded it onto another account

  • Strange. It was only well after the war, when the Japanese had long since lost and left for their home islands and the communists took over, that the real horror in China began.

Perhaps war is a terrible option. But so is Marxism, in all its monstrous, soul-shattering forms.

  • messed up that japan didnt give up after the 1st bomb, cruel emperor lol

  • The Emperor didn't really make any of the war decisions. Tojo and the like had most of the authority.

  • i saw this in russia when i was 6 when it first came out, and it terrified me, i found it again, and it made me cry the entire way.

  • This film made me realize that war is not a option. It kills innocent people and it makes countrys do terrible things. I am ashamed of being a human.

  • good movie was

  • is the sequel anywhere on youtube? or on the web?

  • don't know, but I hope so.

  • there's one on youtube that I found, but it has spanish (i think, I didn't check) subtiltes. So for anyone who speaks Spanish you're in luck!!! Maybe one with English subtitles will be up one day too...

  • I speak Spanish what's the name of the film?? Please let me know as soon as possible I must watch it!!!

  • Comment removed

  • The Japanese sequel with Spanish subtitles is called, "Gen Pies Descalzos 2" Search that on youtube, and it should come up.

  • The actions made by the USA were displicable. Nothing could ever justify Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

  • And the actions Japan committed against China? Everyone did /awful/ things. It was WWII. Don't blame the US solely for this. The whole world acted apallingly.

  • Yeah, like the Rape of Nanjing.
