@300Spartans1 its a camera thing lol I was building an apartment when I was younger and a tv crew came out so i stopped and waved, my coworker was laughing at me and hit his hand with the hammer, lol some people get nervous in when they say action
@ bottomfeeder Some safety regulations are just ludicrous and even make it harder to work or can actually cause you to have an accident. I loved just holding a trigger and shooting nails with the nail gun now its individual trigger per nail. My thumbs have blisters on their blisters!
Ahh, the days when all the safety bullshit wasn't in place. I have a framing business and I tell you, it's crazy what safety regulations these office jockeys come up with! They must be retarded.
hi everybody. I'm an apprentice carpenter who is interested in talking about construction with people online. If you are interested, you are welcome to add me to skype. thomas46073 is my username. I have graduated from uni but dont enjoy the white collar life.! im a motivated person who wants to make the most of my oppertunitys in the construction industry.
These kids are pretty good framers. I have framed for 25 years and you have to have a balance between speed and accuracy. You pull out your hammer only when you have to. The Hitachi guns are great. I framed just like these young guys for years but when I saw others hurt I started wearing safety glasses and ear protection. Harnesses suck. I wore a linemans hard hat when working with trusses or cranes. It only takes 10% more effort to do things right. At the same time you can be fast. Nice Vid!
@digitalbumpin whats wrong with Pre-fab Floor Joists, they are engineered to be stronger than your typical 2X and have a higher load bearing rating,,not to mention they have engineered pop-outs to maintain the beams integrity as pipes and wires are passed through,,, they framed those walls using loose studs, prefab walls are built in a factory and delivered to the site,,, if you dont know wtf your talking about its best to not speak at all
This is Framing.Way its done-any other approach to the job is a waste of time and material.Nail guns and skilsaws buddy-you wouldnt bring a knife to a gunfight would you?
I love building...... I can't build anymore due to my body...... These guys make me wish I still was able to do it all and enjoy it just one more time......
@ beeroosterm..HACKS WITH F@#$ING NAIL GUNS? Im a builder with over a decade of framing under my belt and I can tell you from experience, that many carpenters can accurately fire nails on the stud rapidly and they pride themselves on accuracy and speed. Do you suggest they hand-bang your entire house? Good luck finding a contractor willing to do that. And the foreman may have just been in a hurry to go home, or it could have been a grunt being a smartass on the job, happens all the time;)
@davidthesensei Framed for 28 year's my right arm's about gone cause of nail gun's but it probably would have been gone sooner if I had to hand drive all those year's , Beer rooster would be tired in a day I would think lol hand driving, but hey the economy suck's I would build him one like that but he better come up of some dough because it will cost him,
great Video good job on the house, in kansas we dont frame much with the silent floor we use floor trusses mostly, but have in few instances used that same material, we hide the plumbing and heating and air in the trusses , nice video
glue is the ONLY fastner that matters, the nails/screws are ONLY there to hold it tight until the glue dries you canadian moron. Probably still using plywood too? There are the occassional screwers here in the states, but they will squeek the same if you dont glue it right, just wasting money and time with screws. That isnt your standard floor joist, those are perfectly straight, and have greater surface for glue. Also osb flooring doesnt really warp canadian moron.
build it somewhere warm? j/k If you dont hire a professional, know one...if you dont build more than one every two to three weeks you are not a professional....so find a guy that builds ALOT of homes...... pick his brain. Floor plans=most important. #1.Try to avoid Trusses! 2. People out there are selling anything and everything as the "new wheel", like spray foam BS, housewrap, radiant barriers in the north, engineered lumber........be prepared. 3.You will spend @least 30% more than you plan..
@d1incharge why would you say avoid trusses. when they are built properly by a good legit company there great but when there built by a hopeless company dont go there. if you want trusses ask a supervisor or friend who knows of the company and ask what they say. in australia i muchly prefer trusses then a stick roof.
Trusses can be built crappy, but that is not what I am talking about. Well built trusses are easier to install, but all trusses are flawed due to the design. Ask any good drywaller and they will tell you most of their call backs will be truss related. Anywhere there are temperature or humidity changes, the trusses will raise and lower every season in the center of their spans. It is also the only place on a home here you will find #3 lumber

Is particle board typical for exterior walls? What about plywood?
Sodnal 1 month ago
@Sodnal Generally plywood is more expensive so its common to see OSB or aspenite used for sheeting walls and the roof.
