Rachel's performance was flawless for me, dripping with emotion, especially No Good Deed-I was third row stalls, she was visibly crying, the acting was sublime. The vocals were spine-tinglingly amazing, you try and tell me she doesn't know what note to 'stop & hold' once when you've heard her DG live.

Actually, this is an open rehearsal. A lot of new shows (even in different countries) have them.

And even in auditions, you need to get up the right emotion for what you're singng or lines you're speaking. Live the part for that moment.

i saw teal she was good but as a theater student i have to diss Menzel. she shows no emotion what so ever in her face or behind her words. an actor is saposed to leave them selves behind and let the character they are doing come through. I like Eden and Willemijn best

hmm Im a theater geek (and future student hopefully) and I have to disagree with you there. I think that Menzel shows emotion, but she is the original, so you are probably used to seeing more emotion because other elphabas probably took what Menzel did and built on that. If you like face expressions and emotion showing, look up Lisa Brescia. For me she is really good with showing what elphie would be thinking. Eden is amazing, I really like her too.

Willemijn's voice has ZERO to do with "theater" or emotion or any of those moronic buzz words spewed by people who constantly look down their noses at others. Willemijn's voice is the epitome of that the female singing voice should be. She has dead-on perfect vibrato either in falsetto(and I HATE falsetto) or all-out, balls to the wall "belting it out" as seen here in this clip. Willemijn is 10x the "singer" that any Broadway/showtune hack could ever dream to be.

... Girls don't sing "falsetto"... Boys/men do. Girls/women use their "head-voice". A lot of Bway singers have both, just as Willemijn does; it's called training. And she's GOOD at this genre, obviously, so why not stay with it? It doesn't have to define her- a LOT of stage actors become recording artists or do other genres.

If you mean the REALLY high stuff she does, that's whistle tone. And Willemijn isn't yelling, she's BELTING. it's described as "yelling on pitch" when it really isn't. It's proper placement in the "mask" as well as having killer support from your diaphgram. Women's and men's voices are different things as we have comletely different timbres.

I study musical theatre at a conservatory Academy in California; I know my stuff.
