Fantastic film. Difficult to watch, but a realistic, captivating, extremely well written script with phenomenal acting. If you're not ignorant or close minded, you should check it out.

Having lived in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia i have witnessed racism between black arabs and european looking arabs, the dark brown ones tend to look mulatto or eurasian. This movie was great, both emotionally and sexually intense. Very provocative but honest. I loved the undertones of dark humor, the awkwardness between the characters and the personal growth in the film. 4 stars!

@Kra7as I read somewhere that the real girl in the book was part european american and her father was a black egyptian. Ive seen the woman and she does look mulatto. If you arent aware, Arabs are not a racial group.

Arabs are confusing people, some can look white like Lebanese, some can be black like Sudanese, some can be tanned like gulf Arabs, some can look yellow like Iraqis, but I've never seen an Indian-looking Arab girl. I think that movie reflects the ignorance of westerners when it comes to Arabs.

@Kra7as I agree. Its rather irritating when someone says something like half white half arab, because arabs are not a race. Having lived in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia i have witnessed racism between black arabs and european looking arabs, the dark brown ones tend to look mulatto or eurasian. There are usually problems because the white arabs are a minority about 25% they usually are upper class.

This movie was great, both emotionally and sexually intense. Very provocative but honest. I loved the undertones of dark humor, the awkwardness between the characters and the personal growth in the film. 4 stars!

This movie is so disghusting, it shows like arab girls suffer from sexual oppresion and this is not true. Beside the age of girl is really young, she didn't appear 18 years phiscyally in the movie. This movie would add another negative stereotype against arabs which doesn't exist, it may happen rarely and so limited numeral cases. The idea was good but it didn't handle it objectively. and yeah, i agree it is such weird shit movie

@fckualreadyaye it's not about perverting children, you obviously have no idea what a pubescent teenager's life can be like. For a movie depicting a girl's sexual awakening, it was honest and real. As for the molestation, If you had actually watched the film, you would see how it was showing the confusion that comes with these sorts of situations for a girl her age, and the apparent damage as well. It's not glorifying it or labeling it as art, it just simply is telling the truth.

Honestly I felt kinda gross after watching this movie.Eckhart feeling up the girl and digitally exploring her.I know she had to be at least 18 to be put in a compromising situation (even if it was acting)My biggest problem was the killing of the kitten then freezing it?which really had no impact on this story and the wierd birth ending brought it to a screeching halt.

Jasira's parents in the movie are terrible. They kept telling her that it was her fault she was going through puberty and becoming a woman! It was not her fault! It is no one's fault! It is called nature and life! I hated how her father was treating her. And her mother always took her boyfriend's side over her daughter. I felt bad for Jasira. It is still a good movie.

Most Honest movie I have seen in a long time. And nobody wants to talk about it. But you make a 500 million dollar movie with blue monkeys and everyone talks about hidden meanings and messages.
