  • Great song. Works perfectly in the movie "How to Be" (2008 too)... I liked the Smiths tone (a la "How Soon is Now") that you gave in this version.

And... I agree about the miss-mixing vocal.

  • Well done mate. Deserves ten times the views it's so far had. Cheers!

  • Overblown!

  • I like it. The original is a classic of course, but I really enjoyed the spin you put on it. Really nice work!

  • I'm sorry. This just doesn't hold a candle to the power of the original, by the Roches. this crushed the subtlety, destroyed the magnificent harmony arrangement, and buried the vocals in a morass of drums and who-gives-a-shit guitar playing.

    Bleh. One star.

  • great song.

  • Creepy video of a chubby guy looking in da mirror...

  • I was expecting not to like this, because I love The Roches, but I was pleasantly surprised.

  • This gives me the same chills I get when listening to the original. I feel You've done the Roches proud.

  • nice.

  • Nice work. Nice production. Good arrangement. You can tell you put a lot of work into it.

  • Wow! What a cool interpretation of this song!

I also grew up listening to the Roches because my mom loved them. Their songs always take me back to happy times. So did your version...great!

  • great arrangement ♪ ♬ ♭ ♪ ♫ ♬ ♭ ♮

  • great version of my favorite song!!! :) :) :)

  • A beautiful performance of one of my favorite songs. I hadn't realized until now that I always listened to this with my head hanging, with a feeling of shame. You made me look up...

  • very nice. i cannot find a good version of this song anywhere else that is comparable to the original, but i think i've just found it. you made it your own and modern and stayed orginal at the same time. koodos. :]

  • great version of a classic song - enjoyed this a lot!

  • Bill, this song is one of those iconic songs from my 20's filled with loving associations and heartaches indelible. Your cover shows that the song is of itself an inspired thing. It is part of my head and heart and your able cover is just as moving as the Roches'. Oh for those many months traveling the highways and byways with a backpack and railpass throughout Europe in 1980 and 83. Thank you for posting this.

  • It's kind of strange that this song is kind of reprimanding someone, yet you look like you're trying to comfort them. hm.

  • i'm a very gentle disciplinarian.

  • Nice one, Bill.

  • Very nice Bill, only criticism I have is your voice seems to be very low in the mix and it seems to be lost in the instruments.

Still, +favorite because this is pretty awesome.

  • yeah it wasn't supposed to be too high in the mix... blending in and such

  • "a deep resting place in the back of my mind and the middle of my heart" - that's where the best music lives! Thank you for a beautiful cover of a beautiful song!

  • Very nice! I'm not familiar with the original song but now I'm tempted to go check it out.

  • You definitely should! It's been one of my favorite songs for the longest time.

  • Just did, it's a very pretty song. Nice choice.
