@am110394 it means when it runs out of battery OR turn offs, you have to use the computer to boot it up to make the apps run properly(semi-tethered) but if it's tethered then you have to tether boot it to get past the plug in screen. But if it is Untethered then no problem ;)
My safari still worked when i installed the Semi-thethered.. are the apps that i downloaded from jailbreak suppose to crash? All of them? I restarted my iPod from the download i got from cydia... now my apps don't work. So which process do I repeat? Thanks you!

So, after a few days of trying different suggestions I've determined that IOS 5.0.1 is jailbreakable. However, the redsnow unlock does not work. I repeat does not work. I have a new bootrom 3GS w/ IOS 5.0.1 on baseband 6.15.00. It was originally from at&t but now I live in Germany and have been trying to use an O2 sim card. I have tried everything that all of the tutorials and websites say with no luck. Like this and try to get some light shed on this issue. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Potentially stupid question but I'm desperate here - my non-jailbroken 3GS running 5.0.1 has somehow become stuck in recovery mode (I literally woke up to find it like this) and won't restore in itunes (errors 21 and 3149). I've tried everything from using tinyumbrella and recoveryfix to kick it out of recovery to removing all anti-virus software to attempted restores on three machines but no joy. As a last resort, would jailbreaking it in this way somehow render it useable again? Thank you!
@meshen85 if its in recovery mode hold down the power and home button for about 15 seconds then release the poewer button, if it works fine but if it doesnt im pretty sure its not dfu mode :/ have you tried contacting apple? :)

Thanks for the suggestion though, but yeah I've tried everything I can think of including downgrading in DFU mode but no joy. @222kendx yes men,,it works perfect with my ipod touch. By the way, theres is an update that fix safari when doing the reboot, but cydia and mail wont work untel you do a tether booting, good luck!

@amirhamza246 tethered you need to plug into the computer whenever you turn your device off and want to turn back on untethered you can turn off and back on without computer
@cokeinsanity respringing is like a soft rebot and you'll get the little spinner but after its done it will take you yo your springboard. rebooting is a hard reboot which will take about a minute to get you to your springboard and you will get the apple logo

@amirhamza246 tethered you need to plug into the computer whenever you turn your device off and want to turn back on untethered you can turn off and back on without computer

@cokeinsanity respringing is like a soft rebot and you'll get the little spinner but after its done it will take you yo your springboard. rebooting is a hard reboot which will take about a minute to get you to your springboard and you will get the apple logo

@rcast10554 get rid of all your apps running, and install all the cydia apps you dont use, if those dont work use the apps in safemode, if all this ways dont, restore and rejailbreak.

@teerprug93. I'm with t-mobile and updated to ios5 and it worked. Just did the update like any normal update, like how would do from, for example, 4.2 to 4.3
